  1. Rincon hit Barajas! One on one out for Texas,
  2. Juicer on the mound for the Twinks, didn't get his job done. Texas batting in top 9
  3. It's always good news when you get to hit a reliever whose ERA is 8.68!
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) No he didn't. Mora was the one who got hit on the hand, but he's at 3b. Actually, Matos got hit by the pitch on his hand, is out for a few weeks.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 12, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) Who cares? Mora and Palmerio are on my fantasy team but I hope they both go 0-4 with 4 K's. Lopez is on my team too and he pitches tomorrow. I hope he gets a big fat L. Well, this week I am playing for a liter of Maker's Mark. C'mon now. Do you actually think I want the O's to win here?
  6. This is the kind of game that makes me hate Fantasy Baseball. Chen is on my squad, as is Mora, and the guy who I'm playing this week has Garland on his squad. Yuck. On the plus side, I'll at least get to watch the game.

    Breaking news

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) Oh my goodness. DC has anti-air craft guns and were prepared to use them if necessary; say, if this plane was supposed to go down in a crowded area. There are Secret Service/FBI agents armed with Stinger missiles on the roofs of both the Capitol and White House. A Cessna would be no match for a Stinger.
  9. 41 (does that make me the old far.. I mean, elder statesman here?) Born in Annapolis MD, family lived in Suburban Philly, middle of nowhere CT, then moved to Hinsdale. Moved to Minneapolis for school, liked it and stayed. Am still a Bears fan, and am still, obviously, a White Sox fan. Tough but fun being a Sox fan in Minnesota.
  10. The more I look things over, the more I like Bandini. Greeley's Galaxy is an intriguing choice, though, since he's the only supplemental nomination in the race. Obviously, the owners have a lot of confidence in him, and he's been steadlily improving. Bandini, High Fly, and Andromeda's Hero might be the ones.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Ask any older Sox fan about 1994 and they will tell you that it was going to be the year they made it to the World Series. They were in first place, and were right there for the best record in baseball all year long. They also were coming off of a division championship in 1993, which we are not in 2004. There are plenty of reasons that 1994 attendance was so big. Of course, if you ask anyone but a White Sox fan about 1994, you'll hear about Cleveland and Montreal. I've done that more than a few times, and all I ever hear is how Cleveland was goint to win the Central. When I point out that at the time of the strike the Sox were 3 1/2 games up, I get one of two responses: "No, they weren't," or "They would have gone in the tank." I hate ignorant people.
  12. You can book one thing: Bellamy Road will not come anyway near a Beyer of 120 in the Derby. No chance. He's due for a bounce. Bandini, I think.
  13. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) "With the kiss" "Send it down big fella" A little Bill Raftery for y'all. I might add: "Man-to-man!"
  14. I'm a Saint Bernard. Come to think of it, that flask could come in handy...
  15. Nobody hits the ball as hard as consistently as Gary Sheffield. Nobody gives pitchers fits like Ichiro. I used to like to watch Mike Fetters pitch.
  16. Ok, I know I'm going to get a s***load of crap for this, but Game 6, 1991 World Series, Kirby takes Charlie Liebrant deep in the bottom of the 12th. Jack Buck: "We'll see you tomorrow night!" Kirby is my favorite Non-Sox of all time.
  17. Does pi still equal 3 in Indiana schools?
  18. QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ May 1, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) maybe id take kruk more seriously if he would have kept his former hair cut party in the back baby My all-time favorite John Kruk story: Early 90's, Spring Training with the Phillies, Kruk is at a team function/party and he fires up a heater. Random Woman: "What are you doing? You can't smoke! You're an athlete!" Kruk: "Lady, I'm not an athlete, I'm a ballplayer." Kruk is a funny guy and was a good hitter, IMO.
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) its Hillside...and its the best...especially with hot peppers and mozzarella....people who say portillo's are crazy. While both Buona beef and Portillo's are good, they do not compare to Carm's. I recommend everyone give them a try. If you work in Oakbrook, its only about 7-10 minutes away. Its on Wolf Rd, North of 22nd street and south of Roosevelt. I guarantee you won't be dissappointed. I've been going there since I was a kid. OK, so it's Hillside. I don't get down to Chicago much at all anymore, but the last time I was at Carm's, I got to talking to one of the guys there and I told him I drove 400 miles for this sandwich. He laughed and said he went to school in St. Paul. We had a nice chat and a damn fine sandwich. We have a couple places in Twacities that come close, but Carm's is still my fav.
  20. Injuries are how the squad is tested. Don't forget that the Twinkies had multiple major injuries last year and were able to get production out of their second-line guys. That's what the Sox need to do, since it's is impossible to go through a season unscathed. They'll pick each other up. They have to.
  21. Carm's in Westchester... Oh, man I miss it.
  22. Fyi, Mussina's WHIP is over 2 right now. That will undoubtedly improve, but he's in his decline phase. Kevin Brown is not the pitcher he used to be, either. I heard Gammons saying that a lot of veterans who spend ST in Florida were having problems early because of crappy weather. So we maybe should give them a couple more weeks.
  23. She's a blogger who is a rabid Twinkies fan. She has a very odd sense of humor (I've heard her on the radio, too). I find her funny, but, then I'm a weirdo, too. She's the first blogger I've ever seen with her own fan club (I kid you not). Her fan club site has a game called HangSox, which is Hangman, but the hanging stick figure has a Sox hat. One of you computer whizzes should put together a Hang Twink counterpart, I think.
