QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Really? Come on. I get sticking by your point if you had one. But fact check yourself.. Noesi never has pitched over 160 innings in his career. That was last year. The next highest are 106 innings and 55 innings. Danks has pitched 193, 138, 53, 170 innings over his past 4 years. Shark - has started over 30 games twice Rodon - hasn't sniffed the majors yet and will most likely be on a innings limitation Quintana - has pitched consistently in his 3 years up. But far from calling him Mark Buehrle Sale - has started 30 games once in his 3 years I'm done responding on this topic. It's too much to get worked up about. You're right. It's going to be sunshine and rainbows all year. You are right, it is too much to get worked up about... I mean, flavum is giving a optimistic but realistic scenario. Look at the '05 team, four of the rotation members made 32 or 33 starts, Orlando made 22 and McCarthy made 10. If the rotation stays healthy the rest of the way, and they bring Rodon up like they did McCarthy to help take the workload, flavum is spot on. Again, its optimistic, but also could happen if most everything works our way.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Don't be so confident. That team is talking about doing in the regular season what it did in the postseason last year. Lead after six innings then bring in those 3 untouchable relievers. Also you still have to contain Hosmer, Moose, Cain and Perez who can put up the 3-4 runs that they need to win most games. Sox need to end the hex vs. KC. What? You are kidding... The Royals game plan is to win games? I'd never thought a team would plan such a thing... But seriously, don't like Shark being the Opening Day starter since Q deserves it. But I guess you have to work the schedule for when Sale is back.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I know I am late here but I started Lost a couple months ago on Netflix because I didn't watch when it was on and just finished the series last night.. What was everyone's thoughts on the series? the final season? finale? Curious what others thought I was the same way, a few years ago I watched the whole thing on Netflix. As a whole, I loved the series. For the final season and finale, I was pretty disappointed. I felt like a lot of the questions were left unanswered... But it still didn't take away how addicting that show was.

2013-14 off season player movement thread

So it looks like Brayan Pena is close to signing with the Reds... Was really hoping the Sox would sign him. Not sure why, but I really have liked him. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) I said, not a popular thought - I understand why people don't like him, but to me, he is the best. Of course I like the rest as well, so tough call. HIMYM is my favorite show, I do wish they ended it a season ago though.
-
Even though the show is by no means the same old HIMYM, I still enjoy it. Not a popular thought, but I think Ted is the best character and just really can't wait to see how it all wraps up. Like Sepinwall said, I am getting sick of the same Farhampton scenes and wish it was at least somewhat back to normal. And like Brian said, get Marshall there so we can stop with the annoying sassy black woman and Marshall fighting.

Like I'm sure many on here, I have been re-watching my '05 World Series DVDs. Man, watching Ozzie in the dugout during those games makes me miss him as the manager - he was fun, laid back (well, other than screaming at umps), hilarious in '05. That being said, from '06 till the end, he thought he was the best manager in the world and should get paid like he is... As said above, that is when he was too much and needed to go. Doesn't change the fact that in '05 he helped make that the best year of baseball for Sox fans.

I'm throwing in my predictions just so I can remember them... So: Oakland over Detroit Tampa Bay over Boston Pittsburgh over St. Louis LA over Atlanta then... Tampa Bay over Oakland LA over Pittsburgh then... Tampa Bay over LA For some reason I think Tampa Bay does it. I'd love it to be Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, but I have a feeling it won't be.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) In 1992, they went 90-72 and had a team that played pretty well overall In 1993, they went 71-91 and the only signficant piece they lost was John Smiley. He saw his veteran players perform far worse that year then they had in the past. Tom Kelly didn't have a winning season from 1993 through 2000. I'm actually with Marty on this one, I don't think anyone on the planet could have saved this team. At the end of the day, you prepare your team to the best of your abilities. These guys have made these plays in the past, so why is it suddenly on Ventura when Beckham or Ramirez can't field a grounder? That's like saying it's Ventura's fault when Konerko gets old or when Tyler Flowers strikes out. That's BS. Boom. Lawyered. I agree 100%, Ventura is not to blame. Crappy play by the players is to blame.

That Time the 2005 White Sox Were on The Price is Right

Damn it, I thought this was going to be something good. Not a stupid, well, whatever that was. -
How comfortable are you rooting for the draft pick?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 11:33 AM) I said this a few times in the other thread, but I guess I will say it again. Do we all realize that the White Sox are going to do what they are going to do, regardless of what anyone here thinks? If we can establish that, I think it makes it even more clear how silly it is to insult another fan for cheering for whatever they want to cheer for. Yes, I understand this is a message board, and if we're not here to talk about things beyond our control, then we may as well not post about anything...but this has gotten ridiculous. Folks that still want us to win: The fans cheering for losses can't actually make the Sox lose, no matter what they post here! Folks that want us to win only if the catalysts of said wins are the future core of the ballclub: Who knows what effects the remaining few weeks of the season will have on anyone moving forward? Folks that want us to lose every game remaining: The fans still cheering for us to win can't actually make the Sox win, no matter what they post here! Everyone remain civil... Yes, thank you. I'm in the boat that a lot are in, I'd like the players that we are keeping to perform well (Avi, Beckham, Sale, Quintana, etc) . . . Then, bring in Troncoso or Axelrod and blow the game. Get the highest draft pick possible, but not hurt the future talent. But as you said, me saying that, doesn't control Ventura's brain to put Axelrod in every game . . . If it happens, cool. If not, cool. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) Way overblown. Take Mattingly. The Dodgers were in last place and he almost got fired. If he did get fired and they got hot like they did, he is undoubtedly a fool and his replacement a genius. They keep him around and they turn it around. Did he suddenly get smart? Did he take home a Baseball for Dummies book and memorize it? Like has been mentioned, baseball is a pretty simple game. Strategy isn't much different from High School to the major leagues. Running a pitching staff and handling different personalities are the big differences. If you can run a pitching staff and your players respect you, there really is no reason to make changes. My money is on that Mattingly is on steriods now, only reason to explain him all of a sudden being a better manager. But agreed, manager is overrated to a point. Like its been said, managing those personalities is the hardest I'm sure.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) Except he doesn't control the run support, which is a huge factor. Nor does he control the bullpen. He only controls what he gives up. Sale's record is what it is because of awful run support. Does that make him less of a pitcher than some of the guys in the AL with a better record? What a lazy approach. Look at Felix Hernandez. Won a Cy Young with a 13-12 record and LED THE LEAGUE IN ERA. Guess the record was his fault, year after year. I can't believe someone could watch Chris Sale this whole year and still think W/L is relevant. His support is 2.96. Scherzer's is 6.04. And Sale's ERA is better than Scherzer's. But Scherzer's leaps and bounds better because "he just wins." The numbers prove you wrong, it's not a good tool to evaluate a pitcher. And that isn't even the case sometimes . . . Errors that lead to runs. W/L for a pitcher should be one of the last stats people look at when evaluating a pitcher. No way Sale has 11 losses on the season if he has a good offense/defense behind him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) You set up that Garcia double play perfectly. Son of a . . . I quit.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) I really enjoy this year's Gordon. I agree. I really hope that THIS is the Gordon we get for years to come . . . I also have really liked Avi Garcia as well.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) I really have no confidence in Danks anymore. Agreed. And actually, I constantly forget he is even on the team anymore. And really, I would love for him to not be on the team anymore.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Literally within a minute of this posting the Tigers took a 4-3 lead. Figures. Damn jinx.
-
Still 3-3 game right now . . . I am going to take a stab that the Sox take the lead in the bottom half of the 6th inning.

I hate how much I love Miguel Cabrera. That dude is amazing at hitting a baseball.
