  1. It's likely the Sox would lose a lot more games if/when they trade Quintana, Robertson, Gonzalez, etc. and if they do, I'd be OK with those losses so long as they got good returns for those players that will help them win in the future. But even so, I would still root for them to win every game rather than root for them to lose just so they could get a higher slot in the draft which doesn't guarantee them winding up with the best players anyway. Just win.
  2. I remember a few years ago everybody was drooling over a kid named Pedro Alvarez, who I believe wound up being drafted second overall that year. How many would have liked to "Tank for Alvarez?"
  3. Losing begets losing. I'd rather see the Sox improve their scouting and talent evaluation so they can draft wiser instead of earlier. It would also enable them to make better FA signings. They also need to improve the organization at developing talent in the minors. In my opinion, any MLB organization that tanks intentionally just to get a higher draft position (I'm not saying the Sox are doing this) deserves to wind up with a high draft slot for decades on end. Losing is for losers.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ May 21, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) My hope is they play every 54 games at 23-31, which means 4-9 the next 13. Bottom line, they need to have the worst AL record with a losing interleague record. If they do that, they would max out on their draft position. I'd rather they wind up with the 25th pick and draft the next Mike Trout.
  5. Well if he really is this good for the next couple of years, when he becomes a free agent more than likely some other team will outbid the Sox.
  6. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) Potential 2020 Lineup: CF Robert SS Anderson 1B Abreu RF Avi 2B Moncada DH/3B Davidson 3B/DH (Free Agent?) C Collins LF Tilson That's an exciting lineup, with the assumption that Tilson is healthy and can actually hit, actually, a lot of this lineup has assumptions lol. One possible alteration, if we have a lot of faith in Yolmer and if he stays hot at the plate, maybe move Moncada to 3B and have Yolmer play 2B, with Davidson DHing. If Abreu is still playing 1B and Tilson and Davidson are in the starting lineup in 2020, this rebuild will have been a disaster.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 14, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) If the season ended today, we'd have the 14th pick. I'd be happy if they wind up with the 30th pick.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) Pretty weak when you score six runs and can't win at home. This Sox team blows chunks. You have to catch the ball.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2017 -> 06:29 PM) Can't assume a double play Benetti and Stone said the rule was changed this year and now you can be charged with an error on a potential double play.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2017 -> 06:26 PM) All earned Why? They charged an error on what would/should have been the third out.
  11. Easy Double play has them out of the inning with no runs - instead 4-0 and counting. Abreu is a DH.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) Saladino is garbage, there I said it And he's still one of the best players the Sox have.
  13. He swung at strike three. Bad call by ump on the "check swing."
  14. What a screwed up way to start the game. When are the Sox gonna get some hitters?
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) He'll be gone after tonight, and an arm will be added tomorrow. Unless he shuts down the Orioles for the next five innings, I certainly hope so.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2017 -> 07:07 PM) And he is not going to learn it if he gets benched after a bad play in a rebuilding season. This is exactly what we should all be expecting and OK with this year if you are wanting to see the rebuild. Agreed. I think Leury is going to be fine out there once he gets more outfield experience. He has been mostly an infielder thus far in his career.
