  1. Probably somewhere between 75 to 79 wins. I'll say 77.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) A hot start from Q and if the right teams (Yanks, Boston, Astros, Pitt, Cards, Dodgers, cubs) become desperate enough in July, the return on Q might meet or exceed the Sale trade. Well, it certainly should.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 05:48 AM) Of all the things in a Quintana deal, the surest thing is Q. If you are worried not trading him will screw everything up, you should be more worried trading him asap and just taking what they can get, will screw everything up. All the guys the Wox received for Sale and Eaton look great on paper, but as of now we really don't know if any of them can really play, let alone as well as Sale or Eaton. Can you imagine if the Sox traded Quintana for the "prospects" Borchard, Reed, Anderson and Beckham? Most of Soxtalk would be ecstatic about the haul Hahn got for Q. As KW always said, prospects are "suspects" until proven otherwise.
  4. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) Sox have no inclination to move him either, unless they were to get a package GREATER than the Sale return. As it should be.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Yankees get: Cutch and Glasnow Pirates get: Quintana and Adujar Sox get: Frazier, Rutherford, Newman, and Keller Thoughts? Pretty good for the Sox.
  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Yes, I would be very angry with that return, getting back three guys who are not going to be able to hit major league pitching would be a tremendous fail. Judge is built like Adam Dunn, and has power to similar to Dunn and also the extreme swing and miss Dunn had to his game. The difference is that Dunn had a better track record of contact before cracking the majors. Frazier has pitch recognition issues that will make it much more difficult to handle major league breaking balls, and Garcia might as well be Rondon 2.0. That would be an epic fail of a trade. A package from the Yankees starts with Torres, then you can sprinkle in a combination of players to make a deal. I think Torres, Rutherford, Acevedo, and Frecier Perez would be a good deal for both sides. The Yankees have to give up two top 50 prospects, but they are both pretty far away from the majors. Acevedo fits in with the pitching staff that the Sox are putting together as another impact arm, albeit with questions. Perez is a lottery ticket arm. Yes, the Yankees package is going to have to be a little heavier than what the Red Sox gave up because the Red Sox package is closer to the majors and with that carries less risk of busting. I'd be happy with a return of Torres, Frazier and Judge.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) The argument always made was that almost none of our prospects came back to bite us. The problem with that line of argument is that it led to a continual erosion of depth, to the point where we never had the right pieces after that 1998-2001 cycle to get someone like Miguel Cabrera via trade. We were always on the short end. As I recall, the Sox lost out on Cabrera because they wouldn't take Dontrell Willis.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Saw someone on Twitter saying that Buster Olney said that he could see the Rockies offer Rodgers/Tapia/Pint for Q and the Pirates offer Glasnow/Meadows/Bell or Newman. I'd take either.... I'd love that Pirates offer.
  9. QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Sox have NO power at any level in the organization. Reed has to be included I agree.
  10. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 05:46 AM) If we've learned anything from Cashman over the years, it's that he HATES playing 2nd fiddle to the Red Sox in the AL East. The Holiday & Chapman signings tell me that they definitely do NOT intend on rebuilding. They do have a stock pile of really nice prospects-- thanks to in part of the Chapman and Miller deals. With that said, I'm sure Hahn would LOVE to get his hands on Clint Frazier, Gleybor Torres AND Gary Sanchez. If the Yankees really want Quintana back, they better pony up. Hell, i'm sure Hahn would even throw David Robertson into the package. With the Astros seemingly holding onto their prospects like a creepy crazy cat woman hoarding wild felines, I expect the Yankees coming out of the woodwork for Q and this would be a tremendous scenario for the White Sox' system. I'll take Frazier, Torres and Judge.
  11. I want Reed, Martes, Tucker and Fisher for Q. I think that's fair value for both sides.
  12. I want more for Quintana than what they got for Sale or I wouldn't trade him. He's the best pitcher on the market now and is under control for longer than Sale.
  13. QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) I've been a Sox fan for over 60 years, however it would be very difficult for me to root for them, if they were owned by Obama. I'm afraid that I just couldn't subordinate my political ideology to that degree. As someone who reveres America's founding principles of liberty and limited government, that would be awfully hard to accept. Where did you see this story? Once again I agree with you.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 07:46 PM) There's a saying in baseball clubhouses, "Don't shower with the Dominicans." They don't have the homophobic society America does and they like to mess around. SMH So are you saying that most Dominicans wouldn't find this behavior weird and would approve? I doubt it.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) It's pretty messed up and disgraceful from "professionals" but these are teenagers and boys will be boys. Normal boys don't do things like that.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) This thread is a place to post only actual tweets / news articles / rumors. No commentary here. It was a great idea, anyway.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) As far as supporting their team, they are superior. All oher aspects, definitely not. Bulls***. There are many more Cubs fans due to the way the Cubs marketed their team as opposed to the way Einhorn and Reinsdorf marketed the Sox over the past few decades. But Sox fans are just as loyal and support their team as well as any other fans. It's just that there's not as many of us. One example, how many out of town visitors to Chicago make a point of attending a Sox game as opposed to visiting Wrigley Field? If JR and Co. want to increase attendence perhaps they should try to create more White Sox fans.
  18. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 03:03 AM) If the Sox were to acquire Billy Butler, to be their DH, I think that might be the last straw for me. How would Butler do anything to fix this pathetic offense? They need one really good hitter, with a high OBP, legitimate power, and preferably left handed. You insert that guy into the top 2/3 of our current line up and you have suddenly transformed an inept lineup, to a dangerous, effective run scoring offense. Billy Butler is not that guy: Eaton Anderson Melky Abreu New DH (preferably Left Handed) Frazier That line up would be more than adequate, with the right DH. The problem is that no one seems to know who might fill that hole, or how to acquire him. It would be ideal if there were a player in the last year of his contract, playing for a new lucrative deal in 2018. He might be affordable, available and highly motivated. Then we could let him walk, with or without a qualifiying offer, at the end of the year. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) They do not have the resources to get that hitter. He definitely does not exist in FA, and they don't have the pieces to acquire him in a trade. Your best hope is that Collins turns into that player. Justin Morneau.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2h2 hours ago As I reported on @FS1, #Dodgers have yet to place Puig on trade waivers. Not currently eligible to be traded. So those reports of the Dodgers trying to give Puig away are all BS.
  20. Make them take Shields and the Padres money for Puig straight up. They can throw in Avi if they want him for some silly reason.
  21. For a team that's supposedly so good at developing pitchers it's funny that they only have two really good pitchers on their roster.
