  1. If the Dodgers wanted to get rid of him that badly and if the Sox really were interested couldn't Hahn have worked out some kind of deal for him?
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) They did make a move. The traded Duke for a possible CF'er for 2017. The kept a pretty solid club together and we have all winter for potential deals. You don't trade just for the sake of trades.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) For me any Sale deal starts with Moncada, Ben, and Kop. If they aren't willing, too bad. And yes, I am willing to wait until the offseason. What if Boston agreed to those three but only those three?
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) A post from 20 hours from now... Well, sometimes trades come in right under the wire and they don't get announced until now... Waiting... Waiting... Nothing. That's like deja vu all over again.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Which is why I ask the question concerning Coop. What are his new success stories? Maybe Gonzalez.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) Trade deadline article citing Tilson as the Cards best potential trade chip who could be moved. Suggest he could have been felt for a rental starting CF or 1B. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/7/28/9...deable-prospect That's an interesting and encouraging article. Seems to be a lot of conflicting reports on Tilson. When they first announced the trade I read that he had a choppy swing which made him more of a ground ball hitter. I also read he was considered average as a defender and someone else posted that he had a weak arm. Then I read the Sox scouts rated him a terrific fielder and a line drive hitter. This seems somewhat in line with this article. I hope for once the Sox evaluated correctly. I'm looking forward to him starting most of the rest of the remaining games this season as the Sox centerfielder. If Robin plays Shuck or Garcia over him, I'll be pissed.
  7. Hahn appears to be mired in mediocrity.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) Sounds like he's going to be starting in CF against Detroit on Tuesday. Excellent.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) http://www.barstoolsports.com/chicago/whit...charlie-tilson/ From reading that, he sounds better than what I read elsewhere, or at least the Sox scouts see him that way, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess: White Sox Scout: “Extremely fast, athletic. Really good defender with speed. Should play for Sox now. Line drive hitter. People thought power would come, hasn’t quite yet. Brett Gardner is a good player comp." I've read elsewhere that he is a ground ball hitter and average on defense. The Sox scouts say he is a line drive hitter and a really good defender. Only time will tell. He should be starting in CF for the White Sox for the rest of the season to see what he's got.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Not bad at all. Duke wasn't part of the long term future anyway, and the Sox were able to get his contract off the books too. I don't know much about Tilson, but I'd be happy if he was a Denard Span or Ben Revere type with good defense. If the Sox aren't going to make any bigger moves, they just traded one of their better relievers from their already thin bullpen for a fourth outfielder which weakens them for next year. So if the plan was to give it one more shot with this group in 2017, this is a bad move as it stands alone. Duke's contract should not have been an issue. This move should signal that the Sox are about to make some big moves, or at least a flurry of smaller moves. Otherwise it looks pretty much like making a trade just for the sake of making a trade.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) It doesn't look like they liked him as much as Keenyn Walker. Maybe a decent 4th OF is a real nice return for Duke. But as I posted before and has been posted a couple times since, there really is no reason to make this trade right now unless something big is going to happen. LH relief is needed. Relief is needed. He doesn't make a ton of money, and the prospect coming back isn't overwhelming. Some dominoes are going to fall. It's probably a bad move unless something big is going to happen.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) Alrighty then. Looks like we've acquired Melky's replacement. Austin Jackson's and/or JB Shuck's replacement.
  13. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Personally, if it was me, I would keep Q and deal Sale. You may actually have the chance to resign him after 2020, if you so choose. Sale is an ace, but he can potentially bring you the greatest value. And we never truly know if his arm will snap or not, NO JYNXES. Q may be less of a risk and can still potentially take the anchor. Agreed. And and as you alluded to, there's no way the Sox will resign Sale when his contract is up unless he really drops off because of injury or something.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Sunrise Sports ‏@SunriseWrol Andrew Benintendi is not in Portland's lineup. Christian Vazquez is not in Pawtucket's lineup..... Very interesting Yes please. I hope they're not going to some other team.
  15. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) so terrible free agent class, no minor leaguers to trade....I'm just kind of curious what the "go for it 2017" plan would look like. See post #37.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) I mean, if you assume the plan is actually to trade people vs competing next year, perhaps. If they're really serious about competing next year they should be trying to get Lucroy from the Brewers. Then they better be ready to extremely overpay for Reddick and Encarnacion this offseason, outbidding other teams no matter how stupid the offer. Then, fix the bullpen. Then maybe they would have a chance to compete next year.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Rick Hahn "We had talked about a bunch of different possibilities with different teams...but uh...we didnt find the right fit with the criteria of players we wanted. But we're always listening. We'll continue to try and improve this team in anyway possible for the near term/long term future". Just outlined Monday's speech. You probably nailed it.
  18. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) This lineup is the reason you might as well sell this year. Hahn must be so proud of the depth he has built over his tenure as GM.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) Lucroy is out of lineup tonight for Brewers If KW/Hahn are really determined not to sell and to give it one more shot next season then Lucroy is almost a must for them.
  20. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Do you really think they will spend $50 million in salary next year to fill these positions with players who are actually good? Then what do they do in 2018 when Frazier, Lawrie and Melky's contracts are up? Spend another $50 million to replace. Now is the time to sell and rebuild the farm. This situation could not be any more ideal. Selling 2 of the top SP in the game and get back huge hauls for the future. Trading now will have you in a good position as early as 2018. Nope.
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Never mind 2017, if they don't move Shields Duke and Frazier, they actually still think they are going for it this year................... Then they better add a catcher, a centerfielder, a first baseman, and a couple of bullpen arms.
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) I really don't see a point to moving DRob if they are planning on going for it again next year which they are if they aren't moving Sale or Q This. Unless they get someone who can be a significant contributor next season, not some "mid-level prospects." Whatever they do with Robertson, they better get some good value for him or keep him. He definitely should not be a salary dump.
  23. All I know is you can't win if you don't score runs no matter who is pitching. Unless JR plans to outbid everyone for Reddick, Encarnacion and one or two others, the best way the Sox are going to be able to acquire multiple bats is by trading Sale.
