QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) I understand why it's not an Illinois ad, but I just find South Dakota to be... random, I guess Reinsdorf is plotting to move the Sox to South Dakota and I'm going to chain myself to a post at US Cellular Field and go on a hunger strike until he admits it.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) • A runner sliding into second has to make "a bona fide attempt" not just to slide into the base, but also to "remain on the base." • Runners will not be allowed to change their "pathway to the base" in the middle of a slide to break up a double play. • Baserunners can no longer use a "roll block" on an infielder to break up a double play. Essentially, that means they can't start their slide in midair and make contact with the infielder at or near the knee, with either a leg, arm or the body, before they've made contact with the ground. • If a runner makes contact with the infielder illegally, both he and the batter would be called out. • But if the runner makes contact with the infielder while attempting a "bona fide" slide, he would not be called for interference. • Finally, because of these new safety measures, MLB and the union have agreed to allow umpires to more strictly enforce the "neighborhood play" and use replay to review that play for the first time. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) From what I understand, yes. You are not allowed to even touch the second baseman/shortstop covering the base. So they're trying to ruin baseball now. I originally thought they were just prohibiting making contact with the defender if they were behind (ss/3b side of) second base.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) Guys, Lawrie didn't slide completely a couple innings ago because the new second base rules state that he can't make contact with the defender, and it looked as though he would've had there been an adequate throw. Can someone explain exactly what the new rule states? Is it now prohibited to break up a double play at second base?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) The more you think about it the more you realize the sox could use a guy who can play 1B, if Ishakawa doesn't make the team. Frazier can I suppose and you could put Saladino at 3B. If they are going to use a rotating DH, it may behoove them to see if Melky or Avi have any ability to play the position. Sands plays 1B.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Let's get that falling down stuff out of the way now and not during the season He needs to work on that in AAA this year. -
QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) With the 'found money' if Laroche is truly done, maybe now we can swing a deal for CarGO that doesn't include Anderson or Fulmer. The extra money in theory lets us take on more of his contract, and thus offer less quality prospects. I'd rather pursue that then Morneau or Bruce... Josh Reddick, please.

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Who's our backup 1B now? Honest question. I would say Jerry Sands.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Jackson becomes the 4tg outfielder unless we have another move in the works. I think Garcia stays no matter what At this point, as things stand now, Jackson is the starting CFer. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Holy crap our outfielde defense just improved significantly. Might actually have to take this team seriously now. Good move, but they still need one more big bat. -
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) I received an e-mail a few minutes ago and confirmed it with the local newspaper that Walt Williams, who played for the Sox from 1967-1972 passed away Saturday at a hospital in Brownwood, Texas where he lived. He was 72. Walt was always generous with his time when I'd call him, always funny, laughing and full of life. So sorry to get this news. He was a tough player who always hustled and gave it his best. It's been a bad year for the White Sox family to be sure. Here is the link to my interview with Walt if you want to learn more about him and his career: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/in...=11&id=3909 Mark Sad news. RIP "No Neck." Always was a favorite of mine. Mr. Hustle. God bless and comfort his family.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 17, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) This lineup looks ok: Eaton Cabrera Abreu Frazier LaRoche Lawrie Garcia Avila/Navarro Saladino But this lineup looks incredible: Eaton Cabrera Abreu Cespedes Frazier LaRoche/Garcia Lawrie Avila/Navarro Saladino The top lineup looks weak. The bottom lineup looks decent.
