  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) actually AJ would walk out, get punched in the face and then run off the field waving to the fans and act as if he just won some fight. That reminds me of the time AJ knocked Barrett on his ass with a clean hit as Barrett was trying to block the plate, then Barrett sucker punched AJ with his best shot to the jaw and it didn't even phase AJ. The funny thing was AJ didn't even retaliate but was suspended by MLB! AJ came out looking great on that one while Barrett and MLB looked like clowns.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 07:27 PM) Noesi being Noesi Kluber being Kluber.
  3. I hate the Red Sox. Don't care much for Ventura as a manager either.
  4. Stupid bunt. Just took the bat out of our best hitter's hands.
  5. Well, Rodon is the guy I wanted all along and I really expected the Sox to avoid drafting him because of Boras, so all in all I'm happy they signed him. I still didn't think it would be for that much over slot but if that's what it took, so be it.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:42 AM) They didn't have to. Rodon wasn't going to turn down $6M to go back to college, and if he was going to turn down $6M then he's an idiot and I don't want him. It isn't so much just this signing as the precedent it sets. Now that the Sox have gone over slot once, every first round pick from now on is going to expect it. Setting a bad precedent. They could have gone a little over, but if "over $6.45M" is accurate they caved too much to Boras and it sets a terrible precedent.
  7. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Last time Sale faced Boston, Robin left Sale in too long and he ended up on DL. Another bad decision.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) 86 and humid at the start. Stone said on the postgame it was hot and humid. He was there. I think it is a good source. Stone also sounded like he didn't agree with the decision to pull Sale when they did.
  9. Bottom line is the decisions Ventura made in the Angel game and tonight both failed. They were different situations but in the first instance it turned out he left Sale in too long and tonight it turned out he pulled him too soon. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but managers ultimately are judged on their record, by how well their decisions work out. I would hope that those who defended his decision to leave Sale in against the Angels would at least be consistent and admit that he shouldn't have pulled him so soon tonight.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) Kinda like when he was cruising against the Angels and then Robin decided to leave him in with ~105 pitches and we destroyed him He wasn't cruising against the Angels at that point. I forget the exact stats, but after cruising for most of the game he had given up something like five hits in the last seven hitters or something like that.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) Bad bullpen performance is the bane of any manager Jake just didn't have it tonight. He was due for a bad outing sometime, it happens to everyone. Robin did leave him in a bit long, though.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) I came here to make sure that Soxtalk, who melts down over Sale pitch counts, was fired up about him getting pulled with 107 pitches Sale was not struggling tonight. He was cruising.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) If Petricka gives up a hit, we RIOT There's a riot goin' on...
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:26 PM) Hawk certainly seems to think we're getting AJ. I didn't pick that up from him at all.
  15. Stand up triple for De Aza on a ball Gomes lost in the sky.
