  1. Gotta pick up the option before you can trade him.
  2. Great article. Thanks Lip! “The problem is some of these guys just don’t care, they want to win sure but they already have gotten their money with these contracts before they proved anything. Moncada would strike out and just walk back to the dugout like no big deal, he fouls a ball off and now he can’t play for three days? His contract makes him untradable but he needs to go.” Is there hope? “It could happen, maybe there’s a 5% chance this front office could get it right. But first the front office has to admit they made mistakes. The catcher (Yamani Grandal), third baseman (Moncada) and shortstop (Tim Anderson) need to go. They need to get guys with a higher baseball acumen, the lack of urgency, the way they beat themselves this season was embarrassing. Anderson needs to go because the organization gave him the keys to the car and he drove it off the cliff. And he’s getting up in years (Author’s Note: Anderson will turn 30 this season), get something for him while you can, some talented young players. The organization also needs a major off season from the scouts, they have to find guys they can buy low on with a good upside and hope they produce.” That's what I've been saying for a while.
  3. When it was time to augment the young core with people like Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, Hahn came up with John Jay and Yonder Alonso.
  4. I don't know if he'll be a good manager or not, but I'm pretty sure if he started the 2022 season as their manager, the Sox would have probably won the Division then lost in the first round of the playoffs.
  5. Could be "budget" issues as you said. Maybe the other highly touted candidates expected to be paid more than JR was willing. Another issue may have been that the other candidates wanted to pick their own coaches (as they should) but Grifol agreed to keep any coaches the Sox wanted to retain. JR can't bet letting his guys go.
  6. Last time it was AJ Hinch. This time it's Pedro Grifol. Let's wait for the official announcement.
  7. Don't know much about him. Maybe he will be a great manager. I just find it ironic that Hahn said he wants to hire someone with recent experience from a winning organization, then they hire someone from a losing organization that just passed him over for their own managerial opening. You just have to laugh at this organization.
  8. Outside of '85, Ditka's teams entered the playoffs without their first string and some years without their first and second string quarterbacks healthy. That's a big deal in football. 5 first place Division Titles in a row and 6 Division Titles in 11 years say he was a pretty good coach and had a much better run than Ozzie.
  9. One big difference between Ozzie and Mike Ditka is JR supported Ozzie to the end and let him and his family get away with anything but Ozzie walked out on the Sox, while Mike McCaskey tried to sabotage Ditka ever since he inherited the team but Ditka remained loyal to the Bears til the end.
  10. Looks like the Sox front office are interviewing as many candidates as possible before JR tells them who is going to be the next manager.
  11. If he's that good why don't the Royals hire him as Manager? Surely they know more about him than anyone else. And what ever happened to hiring someone from a winning organization?
  12. Maybe there's a bidding war between the Royals and White Sox for Grifol LOL! If that's the case don't worry, the Sox will lose. Seriously though, your point is spot on.
  13. I'm waiting for Katy Perry's Booty Hole to weigh in.
  14. Right? As I posted before, If they are going to hire within the organization, then why not just hire the best Manager they have within the organization, Justin Jirschele, instead of Chris Getz who has no experience as a manager? What is so special about Getz? What's wrong with Jirschele?
  15. If they're really going to hire from within the organization, why not just promote the best Manager within the organization, Justin Jirschele, instead of Chris Getz who has no managerial experience at all? What's so special about Chris Getz?
