  1. AJ looks so much better defensively than the current Sox catchers.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Royals announcers are saying "Pa-tritch-ka", almost like Patricia. I've always imagined his name was pronounced "Pa-tree-ka". How are Hawk and Stoney saying it? Pa-tritch-ka
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Hawk and Wimpy is such a better broadcast than Hawk and Stone ...And Stone and Wimpy is even better.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Never seen Konerko run that fast before Rios probably would have jogged down to first on that.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Damnit, I thought the title said Wimpy replacing Hawk for Twins series We wish.
  6. The Sox need a 1B and a middle of the order bat. They have cleared a lot of money off the books and already said they would use it for international signings. If this is the best guy available, the Sox should pay whatever the market price is for him.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) Speaking of first basemen, Justin Morneau was put on waivers. Since he supposedly hates the Sox so much, the Sox should claim him just to make things interesting. Also, it blocks other teams who may prefer him over Adam Dunn.
  8. I'd like to see Stone & Paciorek be the TV team for the next several years. It was a very enjoyable telecast yesterday.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) Do people really want the Morales, Granderson's, McCanns, or Corey Harts of the world on multiyear deals? They are in their 30's. Yes. I want the Sox to try to contend next year, not suck again like this year just so they can get another top 5 pick in 2015. I don't want them to sign any of these guys to ridiculous contracts, but I do want them to try to acquire a couple of free agents to make the team competitive again. I know Morneau supposedly hates the Sox, but if they somehow acquired a guy like him to play 1B and got McCann to catch split some time at DH/1B, and they can piece together a bullpen, they can easily be contenders again next year and still be in a position to continue to retool and improve more for 2015.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) Back to McCann.. His salary this year is $12MM. If the Sox could sign McCann and Morneau and put together a few bullpen arms they could be a contender next season. The problem is convincing them to sign with the Sox.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) Garcia is not on the Rangers 25 man roster according to their website. Thanks!
  12. 2. The player may not be an active Major Leaguer player during the interval between the trade and the date the player is named. As a result, PTBNLs are basically always minor league prospects--though sometimes a long-term major league DL player is the PTBNL. http://www.purplerow.com/2009/3/5/779703/m...tions-part-five Isn't Garcia currently on the Rangers' 25 man active roster? If he is, he can't be the PTBNL according to this rule.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) The Sox may not have Garcia on their roster the rest of the way. He's likely a PTBNL because he's already on Texas's major league roster. He'll have to pass through waivers to the Sox to be traded. It's possible the Astros could be nice and just let him through, we don't know yet. I always thought there was a rule that a PTBNL could not be someone that played in the same league as the team to which he is being traded during the current season.
  14. QUOTE (Jon1798 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) I just wanted to come on here to post about Mikie Mahtook. I really hope that's who we get. I'm a long time White Sox fan here in Baton Rouge, LA. Mahtook is IMO exactly the type of player we need more of. He has a very good, very fast bat. But best of all, he's a blazer that only know how to play at one speed. He never takes a play off. Check out some of his youtube clips: That's just him, all the time. And if you're interested, some of his LSU highlights: I know his stats aren't spectacular thus far, and he's a college guy you would hope to move up fast. But I really think he's a special player. One of those guys that just makes the team better in so many ways. Helped LSU win the 2009 college world series. If nothing else, he's most definitely a guy that can get on, steal second, and score on a hit. Something I would like to see more of. Well, scoring in general. Welcome to Soxtalk!
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) As presented, it sure seems that way. Garcia and "a MLB pitcher" for Iglesias only? That's why I can't believe there isn't more to this trade. Let's wait and see who else is involved.
  16. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Makes you think we took the lesser package in order to get out of paying part of Peavy's salary. Well, this is the same organization that lost out on Miguel Cabrera because they were not willing to take on Dontrelle Willis. It's the White Sox/Reinsdorf M.O.
  17. So the Red Sox got Peavy for only Iglesias? Wow, great job by their GM.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) If Hahn doesn't get a package of players he thinks is worth it, he is a good player to build a staff around. I think it's a ploy to up the bidding. But if not he can still trade Q, Santiago or Peavy over the winter. Exactly.
