  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Say they were to have a press conference tomorrow at the Cell (I know they're not typically announced at a press conference, but it doesn't mean KW can't hold one). If there was a press conference, maybe it's workers there trying to connect the dots?? Could be. But I'm sure at least some people who work at the Cell read either this board, WSI or both. So it's no surprise that this rumor would be "swirling" around the ballpark after all the posts on the two message boards today.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) I know guys that work at the ballpark. The rumors are more than swirling at this point there. I never said it was a fact, just what i heard from them. I'm sure the rumors are swirling around the ballpark after they've been posted on the two biggest Sox related message boards all day.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) Not saying I don't believe you, but bringing up Gimenez would have happened no matter what due to the September callup deadline. Gimenez was brought up because Flowers went on paternity leave.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) I must be invisible .I just said the same thing (shorter version ) 6 posts ahead of yours Great minds think alike! I responded to his post right when I read it before I saw yours.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) I think they call it sportsmanship. But, that really is lacking in MLB as it's all about winning. I feel strongly both ways about it Sportsmanship??? So a team starts a player at 3B who can't move and it's poor sportsmanship to bunt towards him? By that logic the Sox could start an injured pitcher and it would be poor sportsmanship for the Tigers to swing at the meatballs he throws up there. Or let's say a team has a catcher that is leading the league in hitting, home runs, RBIs and OBP. But he recently injured his throwing arm so that although it doesn't affect his hitting, he can barely throw the ball back to the pitcher. If the team starts him at Catcher to keep his bat in the lineup, would it be poor sportsmanship for the opposing team to steal second and third every time a runner reaches base? The Tigers wanted to keep Cabrera's bat in the lineup so they started him at 3B even though they knew he probably couldn't field a bunt. There is nothing unsportsmanlike to take advantage of the situation, and it's foolish to let him beat you with his bat and not take advantage of his defenseive shortcomings.
  6. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Just read an article by Ted Gregory about the Cubs outdrawing the Sox: Cubs outdraw Sox (nothing new) What do you guys think about this? Chicago is a loser town. Of course they would support the Cubs. Only the normal people support the White Sox.
  7. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) Judging by the line Vegas opened this game at, they believe Sale is out of gas too. Not looking goood. But, who knows. The Sox may need to score six to eight runs to win tonight. Hopefully Verlander doesn't have it tonight either.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) Knock Verlander off the damn mound. Challenge Cabrera. Man up!!!! Let's hope they do this. I'm afraid Sale is out of gas, so I hope the Sox score lots of runs off Verlander, in part by exploiting Cabrera at 3B.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) Yeah...think of all the infield hits he could be legging out Yeah, he should just walk straight to the dugout everytime he hits a ground ball or a popup.
  10. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Konerko has been pathetic since that hot streak at the end of May/early June. His RBIs are sad since then. I wouldn't say he's been pathetic, but I'm sick of watching him dog it down the line to first base. The "Captain" should show a little more hustle.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:53 PM) Two plate appearances. He was replaced on defense after one out during the 5th inning. Thanks. I would suspect he's heading up to take Tyler's spot during his paternity leave.
  12. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) So then someone needs to get optioned off, I thought we were at 40 now. Pat Boyle just said a pitcher is coming. Hector Gimenez was pulled after one AB tonight.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) Is Tyler Flowers showing enough here in the 2nd half to get the nod as the everyday catcher in 2013? Have to fear overpaying AJ based on his stats for this year and the likelihood of a decline. Hell no. We don't even know if Tyler can play every day for a whole season. And he didn't hit that well in the minor leagues either. Tyler is a good backup for AJ next year, probably start platooning with AJ the year after and then maybe split 50/50 with AJ the year after that. People that think it's so easy to replace AJ just don't appreciate how good and durable he is and will be in for a rude awakening if the Sox don't re-sign him.
  14. Great article. A strong argument could be made that AJ has been the Sox' MVP since 2005, all things considered.
  15. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) How do you like that!!!??!!!!! I love it.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) That also means De Aza is heading to DL most likely. That's bad news. I hope De Aza recovers 100% for the stretch run and playoffs.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) Yeah. It's not easy giving up on someone everyone here thought was going to be one of our next great ballplayers. I never bought into the belief that he was going to be a superstar. I had him pegged for a good ballplayer, and I predicted he would wind up at 2B and be akin to a 2005 version of Tadahito Iguchi. I caught some flak for that because most people thought I was underestimating his potential. Now I bet most would be ecstatic if he played like Tadahito did in '05. I still say the Sox should keep him around as the primary backup infielder next year. He can play three infield positions and he may get a chance to play himself back into a starting role at some point. But he would be an excellent and valuable utility guy, head and shoulders above anyone the Sox have had in that role for a long time.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Kenny's biggest off-season priority should be upgrading at second. This will be Gordon's final year on the South Side. He's proven mentally incapable of hitting the ball consistently. New Coach, New Hitting coach (who's done wonders with other players mind you) and the same results. He needs a fresh start somewhere else. Like the NL. KW should upgrade at 2B but I'd hate to let Gordon go. He'd be a perfect utility infielder for the Sox.
  19. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Is this it? Great look, great uniforms.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) I would have preferred Fontenot, but I really can't complain too much about this move. I'd still like the Sox to sign Fontenot. Lopez + Fontenot >> Hudson + Olmedo.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 06:46 PM) Wow, that was out of nowhere. He's an upgrade over Olmedo. And an even bigger upgrade over Hudson.
  22. AJ should retire in a White Sox uniform and remain with the organization either as a broadcaster or a coach/manager after his playing days are over if he so wishes.
  23. Why is Hudson still on the team? Oh yeah, I forgot, he's a "clubhouse guy".
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) AJ just has baseball smarts plain and simple. 7-2 Sox Too bad he's "lazy".
