  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) We're going to need Sale to be really on to win this game. Like, 8 innings, 1 run. With the lineup we have going today and with Colon pitching for the A's, Sale may need to pitch a shutout for the Sox to win.
  2. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) thanks from what ive seen in the past, aj does seems like a fake tough guy. like with the cubs incident AJ knocked Barrett on his ass on a totally clean play. Barrett got up and sucker punched AJ right in the jaw and it didn't even phase AJ. Then Podsednik jumped all over Barrett. AJ handled it well, and then got suspended for a game even though he did absolutely nothing wrong and did not even retaliate. Doing things like charging the mound and getting yourself suspended for several games during a pennant race isn't being tough, it's just being stupid.
  3. Konerko officially put on 7 day DL. Sox to make corresponding roster move tomorrow. Playing with 24 man roster tonight.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) Not even I can get worked up over a weak bench at this point. Anybody out there on waivers? Fontenot.
  5. Don't worry. We've got Hudson, Olmeda and Danks on the bench. We'll be fine!
  6. So apparently Konerko has a "mild concussion"? That doesn't sound good. We need to upgrade our bench now.
  7. KW better sign some backup players real soon. Sox probably have the weakest bench in the league. It would be a shame to miss the playoffs for the lack of a couple of decent bench players.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) 25k at the game tonight...hopefully back over 30k this weekend When school starts in a few weeks attendence will be back down in the low 20Ks.
  9. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) So dumping a player who may be there only for his influence in the clubhouse isn't going to affect the clubhouse? That makes no sense. "Upgrading" over Hudson is absolutely pointless anyway. There is nobody good out there, and if you find someone useful, he's replacing Olmedo. The Hudson stuff is even worse than the complaining over Flowers' lack of offense. Robin started Olmedo over Hudson today, what does that tell you? Olmedo can play more positions than Hudson anyway. Mike Fontenot should replace Hudson on the roster like yesterday.
  10. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Its unacceptable to lose to Bruce Chen in the middle of a pennant race. Ventura had a terrible game. Stupid having Danks bunt with men on 1st and 2nd with no outs and Olmido up next. What was he thinking, risk having guys who don't bunt much execute two successful bunts in a row? Best case scenario is you're sacrificing two outs just to score one run after getting the first two men on base. Terrible.
  11. Myers is doing a great job for the Sox so far. Great pickup by KW.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) O Dog blows, but I wonder if Fontenot is really an upgrade. I think KW can do better than that. Since Hudson is useless, Fontenot would be a major upgrade over him. He bats left handed and can play some 3B as well as 2B. I'd much rather see him pinch hit than Hudson.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) I'd place him at #2 on the White Sox SS list. He's high on the team records. And he was great from 2005-2008 (with '07 being the lone terrible year). And he won the ring. It's not like I'm an Ozzie apologist...ask Greg. Aparicio, Appling and Carrasquel (sp?) would be three ahead of him right off the top of my head. Then of course there was Bucky Dent.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 07:33 AM) Fontenot seems like a clear upgrade over Olmedo or Hudson. Must be something we're all missing about him if KW hasn't picked him up already. Why isn't Fontenot in a Sox uniform by now? He must be weighing options from several clubs because I would think Kenny would have made him an offer by now. He'd be a clear upgrade over Hudson.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) He was a great SS for the Sox and the best manager they've ever had. I disagree. He was a good SS for the Sox and was a pretty good manager for the first three years or so then became one of the worst managers they ever had for the last couple of years.
  16. Phillies released Fontenot. I hope he's with the White Sox by tomorrow.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 10:13 PM) The obvious answer would be Viciedo, Pence is outperforming him. Plus, Viciedo would probably be required in the deal. I wouldn't trade Viciedo for Pence. No way. But if that BS rumor about Jordan Danks and Jones for Pence were true, I'd take it and play him a lot in LF over Viciedo down the stretch and also use him to give the other outfielders a rest now and then.
  18. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Where would he play? Outfield.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Yes Boston didn't release Lillibridge. They traded him to the Indians.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) KW better be active in trying to get another bat to strengthen the bench, as there are a lot of guys that could use a day off but the problem is the bench is just atrocious right now. Too bad that Hunter Pence bulls*** rumor wasn't true.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) Rios and Ozzie are supposed to be tight. I don't know if it was a legitmate friendship or something that started when Rios and KW almost came to blows last year, and Ozzie figured anyone who wanted to punch KW was a good friend of his. They may or may not have been tight, but even if they were friends it was still probably a good thing for Rios to be away from Ozzie and the atmosphere he created around the team.
  22. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) Man... All the bad feelings around here about Rios last year... people talking about how he was lazy and worthless and didn't care... It makes it feel that much better seeing him do so well for the team. Good s*** Rios... Good s***. Manto got him out of that ridiculous batting stance he had. It's amazing Walker wouldn't/couldn't. And not being around the Ozzie clubhouse had to help as well.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) Say on the FREAK occasion where they ruled in favor of a protest. Does the game just continue from that spot on? It seems like a real bad precedent to start having judgment calls be overturned via protest. Kinda ironic cause Sox got screwed by a runner inside the line this week as well. Only nobody woke Robin up to tell him about it.
