Sox sign Wise, complete Myers trade

Does Devenski have much potential or is he just minor league filler? -
Waiver Wire Thread?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) I created another thread starting the topic already but what is everyone's opinion of Mike Fontenot. He was DFA'd by Philadelphia today. While he is not great, he has played SS in the past and is better than Olmedo. More importantly, he is better than Hudson. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) Wow, that was intense. Sox win! Repo man is always intense. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) Okay, by my count, this is the 6th time we've been to 10 games over. Let's beat Greinke, and do it in front of a sellout crowd, to boot. Nice avatar.

Brandon League Traded to the Dodgers
South Side Fireworks Man replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) Could a deal be structured in such a way that a player would be included after the season ends? They sometimes have the "Player to be Names later", so couldn't they structure a deal for "King" Felix that included Quintana, but not until after the season. The sox would have Danks back next year, and if they resigned Liriana, they would have 3 lefties in Danks, Sale and Liriana. They wouldn't need Quintana. Quintana is exactly the kind of cost controlled young pitcher that should appeal to the Mariners. What good in Hernandez to them now that they aren't competitive? He will cost them $39 Million, over the next 2 years. The Sox could afford to pay him that money, if they don't pick up Peavy's option. It isn't nearly such a big risk to pay a stud pitcher that kind of money for a couple of years. The contracts that are scary are the long term deals, especially for pitchers. Do you think that the Mariners would be intersted in Floyd and Quintana for "King Felix"? I believe a PTBNL cannot have played in the same league that he is being traded to. -
SOX GAMETHREAD: SWEEP FOR SIX

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) They could DL sale retroactively and basically just skip 2 of his starts. That's a pretty good idea. It would allow them to keep an extra arm in the pen, and Sale isn't going to be pitching anyway. Makes sense - I hope that's what they do. -
QUOTE (thedoctor @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) it was posted on a fake twitter account. Thanks.

I thought I saw a thread before about Blanton and Victorino going to the Dodgers but it appears that thread was pulled. I can't find any reports anywhere on that trade even rumored to have taken place. What happened?

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Didn't they already say Olmedo was coming up? Yeah, but someone has to go down to make room for Liriano. -
Danks will have exploratory surgery

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Hawk let the cat out of the bag. Hawk was just repeating what he heard Danks had said to reporters. -

Danks is such a mental midget sometimes. He should think before he talks. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:37 PM) Another idea would be bringing back Uribe... I'd be ecstatic.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) I don't know who the hell we can hit leadoff if he is. Youkilis. He led off some for the Red Sox, I believe. -
Sox want Grienke "badly"
South Side Fireworks Man replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:32 PM) I wouldnt be surprised to see him nab another late inning reliever but it will cost at least Mitchell and one of the younger pens arms in return. If so, that sounds like it's a top quality late innings guy. -
Gordon is a valuable guy to have on a team as the primary backup infielder. He can play plus defense at three positions and can step in as an experienced starter in case of injury. Plus he's still cheap.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) Yeah, it's tough, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Sarah Kustok is leaving CSN as well. The times they are a-changin'. Where is she going?

Beckham - could this be it for him?
South Side Fireworks Man replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Unless they can get something really good in return for Beckham in a trade, I'd like to see the Sox hold onto him as a utility infielder. I think he is perfect for that role and would be one of the most valuable utility infielders in the game. -
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
South Side Fireworks Man replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good win tonight. Quintana pitched OK but didn't seem to be in his normal rhythm taking longer between pitches. Probably had to do with AJ not catching tonight. If Ventura doesn't have enough confidence in Orlando Hudson for him to pinch hit for Beckham in the 7th inning tonight, then what the hell is he even doing on the roster? -
SOX GAMETHREAD: LETS MAKE IT TWO

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) As long as they're winning, I don't care what he says Hawk is funny when the Sox are winning and everthing is going well but he's insufferable when they're losing and things are going bad. -

Hopefully he's back at 100% in a few days, because if this is a prolonged or lingering injury, "This season is ovah!"
