QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) The other side of the coin is these guys aren't rookies. With someone like Dunn, after 10 years does he really need a manager to get himself to perform near his career norm? No, but then you certainly can't blame the GM for not forseeing that Dunn would be hitting in the .160s either. And it is the coaches jobs to spot what a struggling player is doing wrong and offer help in correcting it. And if the player still can't perform his job, it's the manager's job to field a lineup that gives the team it's best chance to succeed.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Why are you such a staunch Williams backer? I'm not. It's just obvious that Ozzie and Walker are more to blame for the team's on field struggles than Williams, Ozzie Oney and Cowley are totally to blame for the public soap opera distractions in the media, and JR is to blame for operating the organization in a dysfunctional manner. Criticizing KW for trades/acquisitions he made is fair game.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Very BIG of KW. Without production from those three Williams' acquisitions the team was through. It's just too bad Ozzie and his coaching staff couldn't get Dunn and Rios to perform at a level even 75% of their career norms.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) If that's the case then Ozzie looks more like a victim. I always thought Wal;ker deserved to lose his job more than anyone and Kenny wants him gone but Ozzie doesn't. So many angles and stories with this organization. The thing is back when Ozzie made that statement he didn't really mean he wanted Walker gone. He was frustrated with the team's lack of hitting and said he wouldn't blame KW if he made a change whether it be himself, the players or the hitting coach. Basically he was including everybody in his statement. But Walker got all hyper-sensitive that Ozzie dared to include him in the list of those possibly accountable for the team's offensive struggles and went crying to JR. JR spoke to Ozzie and Ozzie had to publicly decalre that he didn't mean anything against Walker or the way he was doing his job. Walker remained cool to Ozzie for quite a while after that but since then Ozzie has publicly supported Walker whenever the offense has struggled. What we do know that is Walker does deserve to lose his job, KW does want him gone but JR wants him to stay. And we know Ozzie says he wants him to stay but we don't know if it's because he's satisfied with his job performance or if he's just being a yes man to Jerry to stay on his good side. Again, JR is the root of the problems with this organization.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Guillen batted Dunn 4th and Rios 5th into August. A lot of this is on KW, without question. A lot of it is on Ozzie as well. They have behaved like 2 little kids trying to become JR's favorite. Its time for adults to make the White Sox decisions. That means getting rid of both. How has KW behaved like a little kid here? Sure you can criticize him for making a mistake in picking up Dunn, Rios and Peavy. But he gave Ozzie the go ahead to play whomever he thinks can produce the best, contracts and salary be damned. The last time I remember KW saying anything publicly about Ozzie or his coaches was a month or two ago when he said he thought they were doing a good job. Even I got pissed off at KW that time. But KW has been silent in all this latest BS with Ozzie's contract and Cowley's personal attacks. If anyone has been acting like an adult in this latest round of BS, it's KW. And if anyone is to blame for this dysfunctional organization, it all starts with JR and will never change as long as he owns the team.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) I'm sure the source of the story is Cowley because this comes out the day after he gets pummelled on the radio. Cowley got it from Oney who got it from Ozzie. The "blowing up" of KW begins. Now Cowley is having someone do the dirty work for him. That's a good observation. It does seem odd that this incident reportedly happened weeks ago yet is suddenly reported the day after the Cowley embarassment on the radio, during which he mentioned he could "blow up" KW.

QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Walker is a class act. Yeah, a class act that feels he can confront his bosses whenever his feelings are hurt and run to JR for cover. Remember how he went running to JR a few years back when Ozzie said that if the team doesn't start winning KW would have to make changes whether it be the manager, the players or the hitting coach? Walker cried to Jerry and Jerry told Ozzie to make nice with Walker. This I agree with 100%.
-
JR should just marry Walker already.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Clearly any of them. Lifetime guarantees are nice. You only get the lifetime guarantee if you are one of Jerry's yes men. Do you think Jerry would allow an outside guy who has never been one of Jerry's cronies from the past come in and start making decisions and over-ruling or even firing some of Jerry's pets?

I hope this finally makes it clear to everyone that JR is the root of the problem. If a GM can't even fire a hitting coach without the owner intervening and immediately re-hiring the coach, how can the GM be held responsible for any major decisions? Does anyone still believe that KW had the power to hire or fire Ozzie? Can anyone hold KW responsible for the performance of players like Beckham and Dunn when he thinks they would benefit from a different approach from a hitting instructor but the owner says, "No"? What competent experienced respected baseball man from outside of the organization would want to work for Reinsdorf? JR is the one who needs to go. Unfortunately, it's his team so Sox fans are going to be stuck with this rotten organization for many years to come. Just like the Bears.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) You're not going to beat Verlander with singles. Dunn should've been in the lineup on the odd chance he'd connect with one. You're certainly not going to beat Verlander nor anyone else with strikeouts. -

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone

The other day when Ozzie was trying to backtrack a bit after being criticized for bringing up his contract at this point in time, he said that he wouldn't ask Jerry for an extension right now. Notice he said Jerry, not Kenny. That is a good indicator of the way JR runs this dysfunctional organization. -
That's White Sox loser

As fathom pointed out in the game thread, Lillibridge was 1 for 1 with a home run against Nathan and righties hit Nathan better than lefties. So Ozzie pinch hits Dunn for Lillibridge with the game on the line in the ninth even though Lilli already had a HR in the game. Add the fact that he benched De Aza in favor of Rios and once again batted him fourth. Ozzie is a terrible manager and should have been fired by now. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Good luck recovering from this game Ozzie. BTW, righties hit Nathan better than lefties do, and Lillibridge homered off of Nathan a few weeks ago. f***ing Ozzie. He benches De Aza in favor of Rios then bats Rios fourth! Then he pinch hits Dunn for Lillibridge with the game on the line. Despite the facts you posted, it's all about L/R matchups to Ozzie. That, and proving to the world that he's smarter than everyone else and he makes out the f***ing lineups. I wish KW would kick his ass in the clubhouse in front of all the players after this game. -
The Sox are on their longest winning streak of the season and are trying to fight their way back into contention and Guillen decides to go public with his whining about not honoring his contract next year unless they give him an extension. Guillen and his family cause a negative vibe around this team in the media and with the fanbase. It's no wonder that they only draw 21K on a night like this. Let's hope JR takes notice and finally realizes what the problem is. Fire Guillen.
