  1. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Beckham cab be salvaged, he 's still young If he can earn more playing time by doing a good job off the bench next year, more power to him and even better for the Sox. But to pencil him in as the starting 2B after what he's shown so far would be a mistake. Get a decent second baseman to start next year and count on Beckham to take Omar's role. He'd be a nice guy to have on the bench backing up the three IF positions.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) Lillibridge already has that role, probably. Beckham has to start and he has to hit next year. We can't afford to give up on him just yet, or this franchise is in even more serious trouble than it looks. Hopefully a new hitting coach will help him break through. Lillibridge fills the role of backup at all three OF positions, 1B and emrgency at 2B SS & 3B. Next year he'll keep the same role he has this year. Beckham should take Omar's current role. Let Rios, Beckham and Dunn fight to re-earn their starting roles next season. Rios can battle De Aza for CF with the other being the fourth OFer/DH/PH. It may look something like this: 1B Konerko 2B New Guy 3B Morel SS Ramirez LF Quentin CF De Aza RF Viciedo C Pierzynski DH Dunn/Quentin (if Rios wins starting job) Bench: Lillibridge Beckham Rios Flowers
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Gordon Beckham you, sir, are a terrible at swinging a baseball bat. The Sox should count on him as being their utility IFer next season after (hopefully) Vizquel is gone. He's still cheap and can play a pretty good defensive 2B, 3B and he can also play some SS. They should be able to pick up a decent starting second baseman.
  4. At least we didn't waste the lead-off triple this time.
  5. Hit above right eye. Remains alert. Will be further evaluated tomorrow.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Sample size isn't huge, but Flowers has a 3.00 cERA. We know we can't lose anything arm-related. And Tyler knows how to take a walk and hit for power. I really don't think this is much of a loss. We do lose some leadership with AJ, that's for sure, but in tangible production, this isn't that big a loss. Don't be too sure about that.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) I have a feeling this might be a blessing in disguise. Bulls***.
  8. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) well he used to tell them to retaliate (tracey,garland) but when he got critisized so bad for it , it kinda stop. but seriously, a pitcher needs a manager to tell him to do something? they should know and if they dont do it, they clearly dont want to He used to tell the media he would retaliate. Then the umpires would wait for Sox pitchers to throw inside. Ozzie gave the Sox a bad reputation among the umpires for throwing at hitters even though the reality was quite the opposite. The other managers picked up on it and now throw inside/at Sox hitters without hesitation knowing that Ozzie's teams never retaliate on the field, he just shoots his mouth off in the media. Ozzie is all talk and it's just another example of why the Sox would be better off without him.
  9. The problem runs deeper than Dunn. Dunn is a symptom. The problem is Walker and Ozzie.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) Morel has gotten more of a pass because he's a rookie, he's good defensively, he's worked his ass off, and because he's not getting paid 8 digits a year. Simple, no? I read on another site that he's hitting .345 since the All Star break or something like that.
  11. Rios is starting to play some baseball. Great to sweep the Twins, and just about bury them in the division. Now let's go on a run and catch the Tigers.....
  12. Beat the Twins, sweep the series and drill Delmon Young!
  13. All I ask is that they sweep these bastards tomorrow and drill Young in the process. And don't think Pavano didn't drill AJ on purpose tonight.
  14. QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) only 1 run with the bases loaded and 1 out which came on a error.... pathetic ...on what should have been a double play.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Great. Only I just can't overlook the little fact that Hollywood has assembled an expensive mediocre team. An expensive underachieving team. The underachieving part is where Ozzie and his staff come in.
  16. It simply means that nobody wanted to give equivelant value for Quentin or Thornton before the trade deadline.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) I would love to hear the specifics. I just think at this point our organization is in dissaray. JR is loyal to two people who just don't see eye to eye. And that is just a situation that is bound to fail. We do have to remember. Kenny isn't exactly known for being the most professional GM either. Emotions have gotten the best of him just as they have Ozzie in the past. Ozzie's occur more often but I wouldn't be shocked if there was a lot of other drama that has went on that we don't know about either. But KW appears to have matured over the years, while Ozzie appears to keep getting worse.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) Really? Yes. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) It's really her. You guys don't have to keep asking. Thank you.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) 1 game = a funk? Really? One game? QUOTE (sayitaintso @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Dayan's Last 10 Games Link Although some of it may be related to the thumb injury, he's been in a funk.
