  1. It would be just like the Sox to call the kid up when he's cold, he goes 0 for his first 10 or so and Ozzie benches him saying that "there's too much pressure on this keeed."
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I bet Ventura would be groomed to be our next manager. Has he managed/coached anywhere? Little League maybe? Sounds like another Reinsdorf cronie hire. No experience, but he was a favorite of JR and he'll work cheap.
  3. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) If any team wants one of our pitchers, they'd better agree to take that Rios contract in the deal. This. I doubt if Ozzie would replace Pierre in the lineup with De Aza unless Kenny forced his hand by getting rid of Pierre as well. Maybe instead of bringing up De Aza they would replace Rios' spot on the roster with Viciedo. Then Lillibridge could play CF with Viciedo DHing against LHP and playing LF against RHP (since Pierre hits LHP better than RHP and Dunn hasn't been hitting LHP). But that's not how Ozzie operates either...
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Except for Crede and the middle infield we have now, you are correct. Juan played 3B for the Sox after Crede was gone. He's better than Morel even though I think Morel is pretty good at third. And I'd take Juan over Alexei at SS and Beckham at 2B easily. Not knocking either one but Alexei can be erratic and Beckham isn't quite as good as Juan was at 2B. Alexei and Gordon are damn good fielders, but Juan was even better - and you couldn't beat his arm.
  5. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) I love Juan Uribe. He was great with the Sox at every position he played. They haven't had a better fielding SS, 2b, or 3b since he's been gone. Wish he were still here. And he was a good hitter too, except when he listened to Walker.
  6. Viciedo and DeAza over Dunn and Rios would be an improvement. But Danks and Milledge would be much worse than Pierre and Quentin.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Mike Lowell was the 3B for the Marlins who had a very good run with the Red Sox. Yep, that's the guy i was thinking of.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) I'm sick of Rios too, but just wondering how do you expect that to happen? No other team is dumb enough to claim him off waivers and do you really expect Reinsdorf to agree to spend $37 million over 2012-2014 for a player not on the roster? If you have to bench him then do it, but either way I don't see how he's not on the roster for the future time being. If a team wants one of the Sox' starting pitchers they must take Rios and his salary with him. Like the way the Marlins got rid of Dontrelle Willis or that third baseman whose name escapes me at the moment - turned out good for the Red Sox but the Marlins couldn't give him away at the time. I could see the Yankees possibly taking on Rios contract if they want one of the Sox starters bad enough.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:05 PM) I just stabbed myself in my right butt cheek. Actually, I'd give Jackson away to the first GM that would take on Rios and his entire salary with him.
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) I think if you are gonna move Quentin for a pitcher that you need to have a secondary move that sends pitching to either the Yankees or Astros for Gardner or Bourn. How about Jackson and Rios to the Yankees for Gardner? They have to take Rios and his entire salary though or no deal.
  11. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) I've already done it several times. The White Sox would have to return season ticket money to thousands of fans if they made this move. You can't sell an Ozzie plan and than not deliver Ozzie to those who purchase it. It's an obvious case of "bait and switch" and the FTC frowns on it big time. So you mean you weren't joking the first several times you posted this??? Ozzie wears number 13. So they named the thirteen game package the "Ozzie Plan". People paid for thirteen games. They get thirteen games. No bait and switch involved. That said, you really are kidding around, right???

  13. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Sorry if this has already been posted... Thoughts and/or prayers for Willie... Link Sad news. Prayers for Willie and his family.
  14. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) Oz takes the bat out of Konerko's hands before the game even begins by batting Dunn behind him. Good point.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) Ozzie's excuse on Beckham not bunting... That he "trusted" him to hit the ball to the right side of the infield (with how he's been hitting that way in recent weeks) or get a base hit and that he felt very confident with two lefties (Teahen and Pierre) coming up behind Gordon. Did he say why he took that bat out of the hands of Ramirez and Konerko in the eighth?
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) Tyler Flowers will make Dunn look like Ichiro. Hope AJ is ready to play every day. He always is.
  17. Ozzie deserves to be fired after the way he managed the game today.
  18. Ozzie deserves to be fired immediately for the way he mis-managed that game. Sox won despite Ozzie.
  19. Gardy should have walked Ramirez there. I thought he was going to have the pitcher hit him on purpose. Good win, in spite of Ozzie. Now fire him, KW.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) They'll just walk Ramirez here. Right, because our brilliant manager pulled Paulie for a pinch runner.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) It doesnt matter if the bunt fails or not, its the better play. Especially when you consider that Ozzie bunts when men are on first with no out all the time, it just seems to be a no brainer. The one situation where a bunt makes sense and Ozzie doesn't do it. Yet he takes the bat out of Ramirez's hands and consequently Paulies hands in the eighth. Fire this clown already.
