  1. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Out of these guys and Contreras we'll cobble together some pitching. I am fine with Richard out of the bullpen, I think he strengthens us there, had some good postseason experiences. Like Buehrle in '00 out of the pen. I agree. The Colon signing was a good one for the deal they gave him and signing Garcia to a similar deal would also be a good move.
  2. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) What happened with Stewart? What I remember about him was that his catch-release to 2nd base was absolutely lights out. He didn't really have a cannon of an arm, but getting rid of the ball was one one of the quickest I saw in a while. The problem was that he couldn't hit worth a dink. Is that still the same scenario with him? If we signed him again after letting him go before, then they must see something in this guy. Any clues??? Unless something bad happened with him since the Sox traded him a couple of years ago, he should be their backup catcher this year. I thought he should have been AJ's backup a couple of years ago.
  3. Taveras playing CF and batting ninth for the Sox works for me. Trouble is, he'd probably be batting leadoff, which is not a good thing. It would only work out if the Sox traded either Dye or Konerko for a legit leadoff hitter. Say if the proposed (on message boards) Konerko for Figgins and Weaver deal actually happened. Figgins would leadoff with Getz batting second and Taveras would bat ninth. Then they'd have a hole at 1B (Flowers? Viciedo? Dye w/Viciedo in RF?). It's all academic anyway.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) Getz will start and hold the position. The kid can hit. He's a twins-type hitter. Rock, how is Getz on defense? How would you compare his D with that of Iguchi or TCM at 2B? How good is he at turning the DP? Thanks.
  5. QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) Care to explain? It's a reference to a common blasphemy here.
  6. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) if this turns into the sox signing Adam dunn i will be a happy man.....i think Dunn can put up MVP numbers in the cell I'd only want Dunn as a DH. I would hate watching him "play" OF on the White Sox.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) My totally inaccurate and spur-of-the-moment Sox starting lineup for 2009 is: 1- Furcal SS 2- Ramirez 2B 3- Quentin LF 4- Thome DH 5- Konerko 1B 6- Abreu RF 7- Fields 3B 8- AJP C 9- Taveras CF I would flip Abreu and Ramirez in that lineup -- and probably AJ and Fields as well. That lineup looks pretty good to me. If the pitching comes through, that lineup is a winner.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Even though I'd have to say this is some of the best baseball conversation we've had on this board, everything said in this could be mute if OC doesn't decline within the next 150 minutes. Well, if the Sox get stuck paying OC this year, wouldn't that make it even more likely that this trade (Dye for a cheap young pitcher) goes through? I guess it would make it a little less likely KW tries to fill the OF or LOH slots with an expensive FA though.
  9. QUOTE (almagest @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) Everett posted an OPS+ of 92 in 2005 -- same as Nick Swisher last year. So if we replace '05 Everett with '08 Swisher, we lose nothing. No. That's why you have to actually watch the games rather than just selectively read the stat sheets to make an accurate judgement.
  10. QUOTE (Cubano @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Both defected in Canada this year while with the cuban junior team. Both used to play for the Havana Cowboys. This team is from Havana not from Havana City (capital) where Industriales Lions and Metropolitan Warriors play. Arguelles is a 90 + MPH pitcher with slider and forkball or curve ball. I have to see my videos to see him again. He is tall and has long arms. Iglesias is a SS/2B with excellent hands and a contact hitter. Hey Cubano, I really enjoy and appreciate the insight you bring. Thanks for posting here! I hope we can make a loyal White Sox fan out of you!
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) If the Sox could get back Martinez, Pelfrey, and Murphy for Jenks and Javy I'd be very happy with that deal. I doubt the Sox could pull that off, but what I meant to suggest on a previous post was they could probably get Pelfrey, Murphy and Heilman for Jenks and Vazquez. (I had a brain cramp and also unintentionally included Dye in my original post.) Many posters on another site even think KW would be getting raped on that deal. I think it would be reasonably balanced although I'm not too keen on trading away Jenks.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) I'd do Heilman, Murphy, and Pelfrey for Vazquez and Jenks, but not for Dye, Jenks, and Vazquez. NO NO NO Yeah. I don't know why I included Dye in there. I'm posting on two different boards on this topic and I'm also reading the Dye for Edwin Jackson rumors and I'm getting all mixed up.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) On a sidenote, giving up just one of Pelfrey or Martinez for Jenks and Javy would be highway f***ing robbery by the Mets. Theyd' be robbing the Sox blindly. How about Pelfrey, Heilman and Murphy for Vazquez, Jenks and Dye?
  14. QUOTE (Jeremy @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Thankfully, when I think of that team, I'm overwhelmed with these positive memories, not the thought of Everett ambling around in CF and performing unspectacularly at the plate. Stop. You're embarassing yourself.
  15. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) 4. You have to trust people. Kenny trusted people and then got burned by Wilder and his asshole companions. When you have someone who you feel has a great eye for talent and is also one of your closest friends stab you in the back, it has to be hard. Thankfully Kenny now understands that Wilder is a cocksucker and now Kenny can move on with real baseball people in place instead of liars and thieves. The impact Wilder had on Latin American scouting will probably never get the attention it deserves, and none of us know just how serious that impact was. All I know is that the Sox went from finding guys like Maggs and Carlos Lee to signing Paulo Orlando and Juan Silverio. Talk about a drop-off. Definitely. I hope Wilder and his cohorts rot in prison.
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing a rotation of Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Garcia and Colon with Richard as a spot starter.
  17. QUOTE (Cubano @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) I heard or read than one before. President Carter and presidente Clinton tried to have normal relations but the cuban taliban always find a way to do something to prevent a good relationship. He dos not want a good relation because he coulod not blame anybody for his own crap. Now, he blames USA for everything. Actualy, this is a norm around the world. I said: Let the world kill each other and when somebody cry for help or do something USA do nothing. If USA does something we are bad. If USA does nothing, USA is bad. Hell with Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia and anybody inside or outside The Milky Way. Drill, Baby, Drill! Watch out for inflation down the road. We do not drill and at the same time we are pumping billions $$$$$$$ into the system. Obama 4 and out! I know I may catch hell from some of you Chicagoans and Sox fans, but that is OK. You won't catch any hell from me, Cubano.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 08:02 AM) Give me all the Cubans you got. What Cubans that have made it over here have failed?I know there isnt alot to judge on but Iam pretty convinced they know how to play baseball and get everything they have out of their natural ability better than most American born players. I'm with you. I love the way the Cuban players approach the game.
  19. QUOTE (zimne piwo @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) How about the 2008 White Sox won more playoff games than both the 2007 AND 2008 Cubs combined? Yep. In fact, the '08 Sox won more playoff games in one day than the Cubs have won in the past two years.

  21. I hope to cheer on the Sox at least eleven more times this year.
  22. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) ha, cabrera loses all respect in my eyes for his pussy sequence with Ballfour I'll be glad when Cabrera leaves the Sox. And I hope the Sox can find a trade partner for Vazquez.
  23. QUOTE (Cubano @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) 2B/SS/CF Yosmani Guerra and pitcher Ángel Oscar Argüelles. Guerra is a contact hitter and he is very fast. he is a better 2B than SS. Ángel Oscar Argüelles is the brother of LHP Noel Argüelles who defceted this year in Canada while playing with the cuban junior team. Ángel Oscar Argüelles should be very young and according to some reports, he is very tall. Cuban players trying to sign contracts now: 3B/outfielder Dayan Viciedo one of the best prospects in cuban baseball SS Juan Carlos Moreno gold glover in Cuba LHP Noel Areguelles who throws 90 + and is tall and has long arms SS Jose Iglesias who defected in Canada too while with the junior team. He is a contact hitter and is good with the glove. Another junior pitcher defected in Canada but I forgot his name. Thanks for the report. I hope the Sox are right on top of scouting/signing these top Cuban prospects. Cuban players have been successful with the Sox from Minnie Minoso to present day with Jose, and Alexei. I like the way the Cuban players approach the game.
  24. f*** Vazquez and the horse he rode in on. AJ is a winner. Javy is not.
