  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) About the trade? Hawk isn't livid about anything. Someone is posting BS.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Stop hitting that 1st pitch Q
  3. QUOTE (alexgtp @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Anyone have the lineup? OC, SS; AJ, C; Q, LF; JD, RF; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Swish, CF; Ram, 2B; Fields, 3B. Gavin Floyd on the mound.
  4. Assuming he's healthy, I'd put Contreras as my number two guy. Buehrle, Contreras, Danks, Floyd.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) If you have a team thats going to lose 90 games, Javy Vazquez will be a stud. A big game pitcher he is not. Yep. Now that he has put the Sox in a hole, he'll settle down until the Sox score some runs. Then he'll give them right back. He'll pitch good enough to just lose.
  6. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) This game is going to be ugly. All the Sox games have been ugly lately. Let's just hope they pull this one out too.
  7. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) So there going to score again and we'll score one? Javy is blowing hard right now. Falling behind almost every hitter. He'll pitch just well enough to lose.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) Let's see Vazquez start pitching like a $13,000,000 a year pitcher. If the Sox don't score, Javy will hold the Tigers down. If the Sox score one, Javy will give up two. If the Sox score five, Javy will give up six.
  9. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) Strike out, Ground out, WALK, RALLY STARTING HIT. 1 for 3 on the night. .....And an error on a DP ball that led to a couple of runs.....
  10. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) The Sox could look to improve their bullpen, although their leverage was weakened by Joe Crede's back injury that necessitated the promotion of third baseman Josh Fields from Triple-A Charlotte. Crede won't be eligible to return until Aug. 6 That shouldn't affect anything regarding trading Fields, unless it actually gives the Sox more leverage, making any team that would want him feel that they would have to give a little bit more to pry him away from the Sox now that Crede is on the DL. But the Sox shouldn't let Crede's injury stand in the way of trading Fields.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) Aside from the MRI, is there any indication this is career or even season ending???? No. Anyway, if Josh Fields is the key to getting some quality pitching in here, the Sox should not let Crede's injury nix the deal. Josh's production at the plate is not that much better than Uribe's to offset his poor defense compared to Juan's.
  12. Sox should not hesitate to trade Fields if a deal for something that can help hinges on him being included. Uribe can play third base and Richar or one of the other middle infielders can come up if needed to back up. Field's offense does not offset his bad defense. If he's the key to a trade, I wouldn't let Crede's injury get in the way.
  13. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) That article would indicate Cora would be the utility guy. Fields would back up third I'd imagine. Crede is hurt, I don't see any reason not to give Fields the chance. I'd definitely puke if they traded Uribe for Cora. Uribe is a better utillity guy than Alex Cora. Uribe is the best defensive third-baseman in the Sox organization. Although his batting is extremely streaky, he does have 20 HR power. He's also a top tier defensive SS and second-baseman. If they get some real value for Uribe, fine. But you don't trade him for an Alex Cora or a run-of-the mill "prospect".
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) I also feel very comfortable with using Fields to get a ML contributor, particularly a starting pitcher. Now read this from Cowley: Sun Times Article
  15. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) I think I saw Cabrera waving his hand to show Alexei he should be throwing the ball to home right there. Don't have mlb.tv so can't watch the replay till later on ESPN or something. I saw him facing Alexei, holding both hands up in the air, almost like a third base coach telling a runner to hold up. It looked like when Alexei saw that he just hung on to the ball and started running it in. Strange play all around.
  16. Anyone know why Cabrera was holding his hands up toward Ramirez as Ramirez was turning to throw that ball in on the inside-the-park home run? It seemed as if Ramirez was going to throw it but then saw Orlando holding up his hands so he began to jog a few steps with the ball.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) From what Mully and Hanley made it sound like, Contreras yelled at Ozzie in a meeting and then stormed out of the room after the Ozuna decision was announced, and then refused to talk with Ozzie during the game. Where did they get that from?
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) Sad, but really it was the best solution. We'll see if someone picks him up. I agree on both counts. Best wishes to Pablo wherever he goes.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) What day was his last appearance? The 29th against the Cubs.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) Which makes his return sometime after the All-Star Break. Not good.
  21. Jenks May Miss Road Trip CHICAGO -- As the White Sox embark on their final road trip of the first half of the 2008 season, they do so knowing closer Bobby Jenks might not be available in Kansas City or Texas.
  22. Now if the Cardinals can trade for Harden.....
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) If teams feel the need to see Uribe in a "showcase" start they are highly misinformed. If the league doesnt know what they are gonna get out of him at this point you sure have some dumbass people running your organization. Uribe has to be showcased just to prove he is healthy. Everone already knows with Uribe you're getting a top level defensive SS who strikes out a lot, is terribly streaky, but who hits for 20 HR/70 RBI power. What showcasing proves is that he is healthy after being on the DL earlier. Nobody wants to trade for a guy who was on the DL and then never plays after he comes back.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 11:55 PM) He could have hitten an eleventy hundred run homer!!!111one11! The Uribe hate is lame. One, you've got to rest Ocab/Ramirez since they've started about 100 games in a row (which could have been remedied by starting Uribe sparingly in that stretch aka USING HIM EFFECTIVELY), Two, you want to showcase Uribe? Start him in place of that lamb at third instead of Ozuna. And then even after it's decided that Ozuna starts, he bats sixth! That would have me ROFL if I weren't a Sox fan, but I am, so it just has me TSATV (throwing s*** at TV). But really, Quentin or Dye K's or pops one up to the catcher in a clutch spot and everyone is fine. Uribe does it and it's cause for death by firing squad and Ozzie's a f***ing moron for not starting Shoeless Babe Ramirez for the 80th time in 50 games. I understand Dye or Quentin have done enough good to get a free pass from time to time, but failing in a clutch situation is just that. Everything bad is Uribe's fault. Everything.
