  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I can assure you 100% that their absence from the White Sox roster has nothing to do with this team finishing in 3rd place in the AL Central. 100%, huh? Wow. You know everything!
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Everett played his way off the Mariners, and the Phillies played a lot better after Rowand got hurt. Last year the pitching was awesome. This year its been bad until the last couple weeks . The offense was playing so over their heads, you knew a correction was coming at some point. Everett and Rowand helped lead the Sox to a World Championship in 2005. Everett's talents had been slipping the past few years and by 2006 it appears he's about through as a major leaguer. Rowand was doing pretty well in Philly but suffered two major injuries, one which ended his season. It's irrelevant what they did this year, the point is last year they were key members of the Sox and a major contribution of both of them was their fire, intensity and leadership both on and off the field. The Sox are lacking those qualities this year.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) AJP's been a dog this entire 2nd half of the season. Everyone keeps saying we need these "urgent" players like Rowand, etc. Isn't this what Ozzie is supposed to be good at? A.J's been one of the few guys to come up with some clutch hits in the last few weeks. Catchers usually do have a legitimate excuse of being "banged up" around this time of year. Ozzie supposedly was good at motivating players, but it turns out it was guys like Carl and Aaron that were more responsible for that than Ozzie. Our new "Captain" sure ain't the type, either.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) At least watching this game gives me some closure. Maggs' nice catch in rf. Maggs' deep blast. The Tigers playing small ball early. Tigers' middle relief. They are better than we are and the Twins are way better. Wait til next year. p.s. Oh but we did hit two solo homers. Whoopie, way to go Sox. Iguchi looked so proud in the dugout after his solo blast. Regroup Sox, this offseason, pls regroup. Notice how the Tigers go from first to third on hits and hustle on the basepaths. That's something the Sox have lacked all season. Next year they have to trade some of those slow middle of the order guys and add some speed and defense. And of course, improve the pitching.
  5. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Aaron Rowand wasn't a MAJOR contributor. He wasn't the best thing since sliced bread, but he was the starting centerfielder for the World Champion White Sox. He wasn't the best player around, but he did stabilize the outfield which made it a much better defensive outfield than it has been in 2006. And despite his shortcomings, he did bust his ass and left it all on the field every night. At least give the guy his due for all that. He should always be remembered as a key part of the 2005 Sox.
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) Wicked, I don't think I could have even hit that.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Well Thome is capable of taking the occasional walk which Uribe NEVER does. True, but he can't run. I'm not looking for walks from my cleanup guy anyway, especially when it takes a homer to score him when he gets on base.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) That right there is why he gets a free pass, the occasional pointless blast into the left field stands is worth a lot in some people's minds. Same as Thome lately.
  9. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Torii would be an upgrade. But I dont know if it would be worth signing him when we have Anderson. Maybe not if Ozzie would play Anderson the vast majority of the time, but as long as Ozzie felt Mackowiak gave us our best chance to win in CF ove BA, Hunter would have been well worth it instead. Either way, my point is that Torii is a winner.
  10. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Who said that? I can see somebody on the other site saying that, but I dont really remember anybody here saying it. I frequent both sites so I'm not sure if anyone here hates Torii or not, but I know many at the other site do. I was just responding to and agreeing with fathom's post.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) T. Hunter has been phenomenal. Shame on whoever said he wouldn't be an upgrade over Anderson this year. Amen to that! Torii is a winner. Sox fans who say they hate him would have loved him if he were in CF for the Sox this year.
  12. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Pabs value to this team: Pretty high. Plus, he's our favorite Backyardigan.
  13. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Jose and Garcia need to teach Matt Thornton that Splitty.... Can you imagine that?????
  14. QUOTE(chisox72 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I am only waiting up watching because I want to hear the Hawk meltdown. Its brewing, I can feel it.... I don't think so. I think he's resigned to our fate, like most of us on this thread.
  15. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Hell yeah the Jags are looking real good Meanwhile the Sox are looking like jags.
