  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) Dye pulled off a very impressive trifecta of not running hard to first, third, or home in the same inning. I know. What's up with that???
  2. Hawk said it earlier--- If we continue to play like this we don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  3. QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) Didn't expect to hear that comment this year. Not that I disagree The Sox don't have another competent CF in their organization. Oh for Chris Young...
  4. If Brian is hurt and out for any significant period of time, the Sox playoff chances are dead.
  5. I'd rather have David Wells coming out of the pen instead of Neal Cotts.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) I don't give a s*** what anybody says. We lose this game, we're finished. As long as we keep winning series we'll be fine.
  7. Neal Cotts sucks. At least he could get a haircut and shave so he doesn't look like s*** even though he pitches like s***. I don't want him anywhere on the playoff roster--that is if they even make it.
  8. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Tonight's Lineup Pods LF Iguchi 2B Dye RF PK DH Crede 3B AJ C Uribe SS Gload 1B BA CF Good lineup. Sox should win.
  9. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Freddy is going to pitch a great game tonight and will be hitting the low 90's consistently.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) 22-10 That would be awesome. I hope you're right!
  11. QUOTE(premo @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) And another thing, I hate Tori Hunter more than any other player in baseball. I'd like to see Buehrle hit him in the mouth tommorrow. Why? Because Torii Hunter is a winner? Those are the kind of players I wish were on the Sox. The Sox gave it their all tonight, but it wasn't quite enough. The Sox were defeated by a better team. The Twins play a better brand of baseball, have a better manager and do what it takes to win games. Doesn't mean the Sox aren't good, just that the Twins are better.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) MACK IN CF?!?!?!?! I'm not even going to rip Ozzie, the actions speaking louder than any of my words can. With Jerry Owens' cryptic comments on WSCR this morning it makes one wonder if something is going on with Anderson. Anyway, I wish the reason was Ozzie finally realized that lefties hit Santana better than righties and it also breaks up his rhythm---but with Alomar starting, that blows that theory.
  13. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I know I've been harping on this since before the season began. I just hope Ozzie realizes after today's game that our lineup is going to be better with Jermaine #3, PK #4, and Thome, when he returns, #5, with Crede #6 and AJ #7. It's a better alignment against lefties and righties. We went 16-1 with JD hitting 3rd last year. We could use a little tear like that to put the Twins in our rear view mirror and put some heat back on the Tigers. Yes, Yes, PLEASE put JD in the three hole. I'd put Thome fourth and Paulie fifth to have the R-L-R in the middle, but either way is fine as long as JD is number three where he belongs.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Dye needs to be moved into the 3rd spot in the order now! It's broke Ozzie...FIX IT! Thank you!
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Ahh the return of GIDPaulie and Corpseball. What a night. That's our "captain".
  16. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Our best hitter is batting fifth. Our worst hitter is batting first. Our two best defensive players didn't have to pay to watch the game. Our best reliever pitched to three batters in the 6th inning. Need I go on. Dye should be batting third, with Thome fourth and Konerko fifth.
  17. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) Another f***ing small ball post? You'd think leading the majors in RS would be enough to f***ing convince people that the way to score runs is to get on base and hit home runs and doubles. The problem has been pitching, it's been the problem all year. The offense IS THE BEST IN BASEBALL!!! The problem is not the offense, it's not a lack of "small ball". The problem is that MB, JV, and to a lesser extent FG, JC, and JG have all s*** the bed this year. Add Neal Cotts and Pollitte to that list as well. Never said anything about "small ball". You have to play baseball. Let the home runs happen. You still have to play smart baseball. Swinging for the fences everytime up isn't smart. When your big hitters are not hitting home runs you still have to be able to make things happen. One of the big keys to the Sox' success last season and the reason they got off to such a tremendous start was because they would score first and the pitchers would take the mound with a lead right from the beginning of the game. Hence, my point about the style of play in the first inning. Learn to f***in' read. It gets old having people take things out of context. My original post was in response to the question, "What happened to grinder baseball?" Read the post again and try to comprehend.......oh, just forget it. BTW I mentioned the pitching being the problem.
  18. Jim Thome changed the character of this team. Not knocking the guy, but it is what it is, for better or worse. He should be batting fourth, however. Instead of adding Thome to last year's team, it seems the Sox have changed their whole approach centered around Thome in the third spot. No stealing, sacraficing, hit and running, etc. in the first inning like last year. "We don't want to take the bat out of Thome's hands, you know." The starting pitching has not come through this year either.
  19. That's why he's "Mr. Five and Dive".
