QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Shadows starting to creep across the mound Javy saved by the shadows! Let's see if "Five and Dive" can give us six. (Don't hold your breath.) -

Get him out of there. Old "Five and Dive" can't even give us five today. -
Sox @ KC - 8/2 Game Thread
South Side Fireworks Man replied to Heads22's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Nice series win. We took two out of three at Baltimore, now two out of three against KC. That's two series wins in a row. If we just keep winning series, blah blah blah..... -
Sox @ KC - 8/1 Game Thread

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) Wow. What a lineup. I think I kinda like it. Dye finally in the number three spot where he belongs! Let's hope he stays there for the rest of the season. The Sox took off last year after he was moved there. Dye, Thome, Konerko--3, 4, 5 respectively for the rest of the year. -
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) This deal makes totall sense for the Sox. We get rid of Javy and his contract. Zito comes here with his contract expirering. Meaning BMac would then have an open slot for 2007. If this rumor is true. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!! PLEASE If Beane would agree, do it in a heartbeat.

Mr. "Five and Dive" did it again today. What a joke.

QUOTE(Sam @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) Just pointing it out, KW said we were done a few days before the 2003 deadline, but he still went ahead and traded for Robbie Alomar and Carl Everett. Who knows what he's really up to... The Sox acquired Carl & Robbie on July 1st. -
Gload is good.

Ozzie, Get Off Your Butt and Do Something
South Side Fireworks Man replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) And if Ozuna was thrown out, people will scream for Ozzie's ass - How stupid can you be to have Ozuna steal a base when Thome or Konerko is coming up? And that, my friend, has been the problem and the reason why the Sox haven't been playing "smart ball" as much this year. Stay aggressive, play the game right, and let the home runs come when they may instead of just waiting around for them to happen. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) All that said, we should still be willing to call hit and runs and stolen bases because it will keep the team fresh and make sure the opposition is focused defensively. Thank you. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Can Ozzie please try to be agressive. This team has been so fishing passive the past few weeks its disgusting. Our fastest and best base stealer has reached based twice tonight and he's yet to run (Ozuna). He even had a few pitches that got in the dirt (one of which he should have been on 2nd on) where he didn't attempt anything either. I noticed that and was thinking the exact same thing. -
Tigers vs. Twins this weekend
South Side Fireworks Man replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) Hope for a sweep Twins sweep(and we can actually take care of business), and we gain ground in the Central. Tigers sweep, and we gain ground in the Wild Card. At this point, I don't care who wins. I just want a sweep. The winner of the first game dictates who I cheer for in the next 2 games. That's good thinking. -
Ozzie better play the "A" lineup. We need LEFTIES in there against Santana. He kills righties anyway. Twins have a good chance to sweep this series. At the moment, they are the best team in baseball. Sox must find a way to win this series!!!
-
Most definitely their roles should be reversed---and right now. Vazquez does great the first couple of times through the lineup but can't pitch well the third time to a hitter in the same game. Salary is not even an issue, because the total salary remains the same no matter which role McCarthy and Vazquez are in.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) I've never seen his 2 seamer look so crisp, he was blowing it right by hitters. Then he hit the 6th and it all went to spiff. Javy belongs in the Sox bullpen --- or starting for someone else. -

Vazquez sucks. Get him out of there while it's still close. -
This series is HUGE. These games are indeed now even more important for the Sox than last week's series against the Tigers. Let's hope Vazquez can give a quality performance for a change tomorrow. And I hope Ozzie puts some lefties in the lineup against Santana. Santana mows right through our all RH lineup.

Sox Acquire Alomar for Lamura, Widger DFA'd
South Side Fireworks Man replied to a topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) The last time I checked, Stewart had only caught 1 Haeger start this season. Matos has been him primary catcher. Thanks. I guess I was misinformed. -

QUOTE(2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) I was watching baseball tonite and theres a rumor the sox may be getting joe boroski, you think theres any possibility that we get Olivo back in that trade?? I always liked Olivo. Not a good game caller, but still.... I doubt the Marlins would trade him unless they got something pretty good in return. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) And the fact that he's making 8.5 million this year, which would probably be around what, 3 mil for the rest of the year? I wouldn't give that to a backup. They paid Ben Davis $1M last year to sit in the minors or on the DL, so $3M to Lopez would be a bargain by comparison. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) I also talked to BHAM last night, regarding Stew, actually. Says he's a good character guy and he likes his game calling. His PB numbers in Charlotte can be overlooked, because of Haeger. I thought I remember hearing somewhere that Stewart does an excellent job handling Haeger's knuckler. Can anyone shed more light on how well he handles Haeger? Also, could it be that a move is in the works that would involve Haeger coming up resulting in Widger being DFA'd and Stewart coming up as Haeger's caddy? -
Dontrelle Willis almost a White Sox?
South Side Fireworks Man replied to whitesox61382's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) It's not. McCarthy would be a must for the Marlins in a Willis deal. No deal then. -

QUOTE(CySox @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) I would love Willis, but it would most likely cast Fields and Sweeney, and I think they might be too much to give up. If that's what it takes to get Willis, this deal should be done yesterday. -
Ozzie needs to adjust his management of pitchers
South Side Fireworks Man replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Either start McCarthy and put Vazquez in the bullpen where he belongs, or trade Vazquez and Mackowiak for Howry & Pierre, Gordon & Rowand, Etc. Vazquez does well the first couple of times through the llineup, so use him in relief. McCarthy is our starter of the future anyway, and he can't do any worse than Vazquez right now. I have nothing against Mackowiak, but it seems as long as he's around Ozzie is going to continue to stick him in CF. He doesn't belong there.
