  1. First of all, Cowley is ... well,...Cowley. Second of all, there is no bad blood between Carl and A.J. If you remember, Carl said he thought that AJ would be the White Sox leader this year. I also read on another forum that Carl and A.J. hung out and had a few beers together after the White House ceremony. By all accounts, Carl was a good citizen during all his time with the Sox and appeared to be well liked by his teammates. I don't remember reading of anyone refusing his invitation when he treated the whole team to a first class steak dinner last season. Carl always appeared to be having fun in the dugout last season and looked like he was keeping everyone else loose with his humor. He also was always the first one up on the top step of the dugout sticking up for his teammates when necessary. Remember the incident with Crede during the World series for example. Carl was a leader and an important part of the World series Championship. For that, he has my thanks and respect.
  2. They said on Tribune Live that Dye took himself out of the lineup tonight because he can't hit Moyer. I wonder if Ozzie will give Gload a start in RF.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) Dude. Most people on this board have said specifically they feel badly about DLee, and anything negative they said (most people) is that its good we don't have to face him, which is a complement. If you want to see some serious anti-Cub sentiments, go over to WSI. Most of the posters on WSI have also said they feel badly about DLee's injury. White Sox fans have class.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Hey.. look at that. My new avatar is working. Best. Avatar. Ever!
  5. Shingo certainly will receive a ring and he deserves to be presented with his ring personally. If it means Hemond flies to Japan, then that's what should happen. I have nothing but good feelings for Shingo.
  6. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:31 AM) Just said that JR told KW that AJ, Crede, Freddy, and Cotts need to get haircuts. He said JR "doesn't want to be like the Yankees, but he doesn't want to be the Red Sox either". Good.
  7. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) I missed the game while I was at the cubs game today, but can someone correct me if I'm wrong saying that our team needs a solid slap in the face to get on track Was that the 2005 White Sox wearing Cubs uniforms playing at Wrigley today?
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) One thing that bothers me is that there seems to be no, what's the word, chemistry yet. Things just seemed to flow last year and so far thius year, everything is a struggle. It is hard to put into words what I mean, so hope everyong gets my point. That's what Carl Everett said could happen.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Cintron is exactly that -- depth. Iguchi is our fourth best hitter after Thome, Konerko, and Dye and should not be losing too many AB's to Cintron. But Tad should still keep his mouth shut if Ozzie does choose to bench him. Tad said "No comment." Cowley is a troublemaker, and Ozzie took the bait.
  10. This better not be an April Fool's joke. Contreras @ 29M for three years is a STEAL in today's market. Contreras has a shot at the Cy Young award if he continues to pitch as he is able.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) I miss Jurassic Carl. Carl helped us win a World Series.
  12. I wish Shingo could be there--I'm sure he's getting a ring. It'd be nice to see Carl and Willie there as well.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) If Podsednik's groin bothers him this season, he should not even try to steal bases. We already saw it last season. He can still get on base but he's an easy caught stealing with a nagging groin. Agreed. That sure takes the spark out of our offense, however.
  14. My concern with Podsednik is that he hasn't shown the ability to steal bases since his injury last season nor so far this spring after his off-season surgery. I hope he hasn't lost a step permanently.
  15. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) We have no EDGE right now. We have 6 days to get it back. Losing guys like Everett and Rowand will do that to a team. Hopefully this years team can get some of that edge back.
  16. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) The Royals announcers made it sound like the double ended up that way because Mackowiak dove and did not come up with it. And the 'almost' homer didn't reach the warning track. Stop trying to confuse the sheep with the facts.
  17. QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) I love that Everett and Thomas are making the same argument, yet neither has ever been seen to be a clubhouse leader. I haven't heard Rowand make these comments, not that he has necessarily been asked, but he actually contributed to the chemistry. Carl was seen as a clubhouse leader with the White Sox.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) I've spent some time a couple different seasons in Charlotte. At the time both Gload and Borchard were there. I should make something real clear but those are about the only two players (along with Dan Wright and Arow) that were really commended for the effort and attitude they brought to the stadium each and every day. I'm not saying Bmac and other guys didn't do this, cause they weren't there long, but both Borch and Gload have spent considerable time there and both were characterized as great individuals and team players. The fact is Gload was stuck in a power position. He should play somewhere in the major leagues, but who knows if that will happen. He, nor Borchard have any sort of attitude problem. As far as Borch goes, he's one of the kindest and nicest humans around. Thank you. It's amazing what unfounded BS gets started on websites and then is taken as the truth and repeated by so many people.
  19. Harry & Jimmy were the best ever--Amen! Jimmy forgot more about baseball than most people know.
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) hernias are painful. that is all. That's enough!
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) I'd still like to see a righty hitter with some power on the bench. Macias isn't a good player at all, and I agree with you....as long as we have Ozuna on the team, there's no reason to have Macias. I'd rather see the Sox get a guy like Matt Lecroy who can be an emergency catcher and provide some right handed pop off the bench than a guy like Macias. We already have Mackowiak and Ozuna to cover all the spots Macias plays, and they're better at it than him. Borchard is a much better option than Macias.
  22. Looks like the guy from mlbtraderumors.com was one day off on his prediction!
  23. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) Broadway is not eligible so it would be quite the trick. Any informant that is not a moron would not pass that on... as they would never get that information either. Although I guess they could just make Broadway a PTBNL, like they did with Gio.
