  1. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) The best deal would still be Schmidt/Vizquel for Contreras, Uribe, and Anderson. No, the best deal would be BMac/Contreras & Marte for Schmidt and Vizquel.
  2. It may be a Bears town, but THIS is supposed to be an AJ Burnett thread!
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Put it this way...out of everyone in baseball, if I were GM, Vizquel is the one guy I'd over pay for. I'm talking about Valido and Gio for s*** sakes. Would you be willing to give BMac + another prospect or BMac + Marte for Vizquel?
  4. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) I would throw up if the Twins picked him up.. :puke I will throw up when the Cubs pick him up.. :puke
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) For those wanting a bat. My question is who gets replaced in the lineup and who do you all want? If the Sox were willing to take on his obscene contract, Griffey can be had for prospects, I'm sure. He could take Timo's place on the roster. That means he can play some DH, some CF, and some RF. Carl becomes the #4 outfielder and plays some DH. If it's now or never, I say KW should do this deal, if JR allows it.
  6. Konerko wouldn't be so bad as a guy making $3-4million a year and platooning with Gload at 1B and Carl at DH. But as a highly paid cleanup hitter, he doesn't cut it.
  7. I would trade McCarthy for Burnett, then flip him for Wagner. If the Reds would take Konerko straight up for Griffey I would do it, but I doubt they would. We'd have to add a prospect for them to add money, but that part could be worked out.
  8. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) The question is how much do you want to win a World Series? If it takes Burnett to get Wagner before the deadline then use BMac & not Contreras to get Burnett. Maybe BMac is the next great thing, but he's not going to be that THIS YEAR! With Wagner, everybody drops down which makes the pen that much stronger. On paper at least it looks like a 5 inning game in the post season. Right on.
  9. Iguchi should be the regular starting 2B, but Willie should be playing more often. Iguchi looks like he could use a rest, and Willie is a better defensive 2B anyway.
  10. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Last year he had a very powerful season with over 20 Hr's but this year he has only 5 Hr's and 36 Rbi's. Steroids?
  11. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) It still amazes me how many people think dye can be an everyday first baseman.......he played one game at first, and played it a little in the minors.....idiots Anyone who thinks an athlete the calibur of Dye-- a major leaguer who has played baseball all his life, and who has showed the ability to play 1B already-- cannot play 1B adequately is the idiot.
  12. Someone on another forum suggested Konerko for Griffey straight up. Dye moves to 1B and Griffey starts in RF. The Sox could then cut Timo and bring up Gload to back up Dye at 1B. Probably will never happen, but I like it.
  13. Contreras is having a better season than Burnett or Schmidt and he's way better than McCarthy. So unless we're getting Roger Clemens, I'll stick with Jose, even though he does frustrate at times.
  14. Gload runs better than Timo. I agree Willie must stay. For a team built on SPEED and defense, they only have three truly fast players--Pods, Ozuna and Willie. Plus Willie is their best defensive 2B (Iguchi is very good but Willie has more range) and plays passably well in a pinch in CF and SS.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Gload isn't healthy. He can't play the OF because he still can't throw. The Sox don't need an outfielder. They need a backup 1B and a LH bat. Podsednik, Rowand, Dye, Everett, Willie and Ozuna all play OF.
  16. So a healthy Gload is still down in Charlotte and Timo is still on the ML roster...
  17. McCarthy & Marte for Burnett & Lowel. That's it. If the Marlins want anything else, either they start throwing in players we want or no deal.
  18. Let's just hope that this isn't Ozzie's way of Keeping Timo around----Show that Dye can play 1B so we don't need to bring Gload up, therefore Timo get's to stay around. I know this makes no sense and it's a longshot, but when it comes to Ozzie's admiration for Timo, you can never be 100% sure.
  19. QUOTE(Be Good @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) Konerko needs a day off? I need a day off, you need a day off. 1B is the easiest position to play. PK had a day off today. Konerko should be playing everyday we need his bat. Gload should be PH and maybe getting a start every now and then at DH or 1B just to keep him happy. The Sox need a day off from Paulie every now and then.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Of course, the Sox have said Ross isn't coming back til he can play the outfield. That makes no sense at all. I think that is just Ozzie's way of keeping Timo around as long as possible. The Sox desperately need a backup first baseman to give Konerko some days off. They don't need another outfielder and Gload is an excellent first baseman and a bad outfielder. As soon as Gload is ready to play 1B and swing the bat without shoulder pain, he should take Timo's spot on the roster.
  21. Since Frank's return, Timo is not needed. Carl takes Timo's spot as the fourth outfielder. All Timo is around for now is a LH pinch hitter. Gload takes that spot from Timo when he's back. Timo should be gone when Ross comes back.
  22. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) Or maybe we won't here any names (FLYING UNDER THE RADAR- Like he did when we aquired Freddy Garcia last season.) Actually, KW did not fly under the radar concerning Garcia. Rumors were flying for almost three months about KW coveting Freddy before he landed him. It was a foregone conclusion that Freddy was either going to the Yankees or the Sox, if I recall correctly.
  23. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Why would we trade a guy who could be around for 10-15 years to get a guy who has about 1-2 left in him. I just don't see why this would make sense. Because we want to win a World Series. This year. BMac isn't ready. The only thing that bothers me about Clemens is that he has a clause in his contract that he doesn't have to travel with the team. I don't like that, and I don't know what that would do to the other pitchers on the staff.
