  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) It wouldn't be a bad comment if he didn't say "no one is even close." Clayton is and was a good defensive player, but he was a cancer on the White Sox. Throwing around complements like that to players who where addition by subtraction is very odd to me. Bingo!
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) "White Sox possibly looking at Sean Burroughs" I wasn't impressed with Burroughs at all during the SD series. If that's the best we can do, I'll stick with Crede.
  3. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) I may get blasted by a Mod for this.. But that comment really SUCKED. Sad really. Ignorance is a sad thing..... :headshake I agree that comment sucked. I hope you and everyone else here do realize that Carl did NOT make that comment. That was the poster trying to be clever. I know it's obvious, but I just want to make sure nobody reacts to that post thinking it was true.
  4. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Well, his comments are now getting national play. Opinionated or ignorant, it would probably be best if he kept his trap shut. Look, Carl's statements were not unsolicited. A reporter asked him questions. So he's supposed to keep his trap shut because you don't agree with his answers? What if Carl believed that Gay Marriage should be legalized in all fifty states, Wrigley Field is the most beautiful spot on the earth, Gammons is a baseball genius, and most people who watch baseball know as much about the game as a seasoned veteran in the Majors? Should he have kept his trap shut then? Would all the PC storm troopers be up in arms about his comments? And for those who continually bash him because he does not believe in dinosaurs, would you bash him if he believed human beings descended from apes? Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  5. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) But Crazy Carl is a cool nickname. I know. Sometimes I use it myself, but I always say it in a lighthearted, positive way. He may be wrong about the moon landing and the existence of Dinosaurs, but these are irrelevant things anyway. Besides, he's right about most other things. Agree or not, he's just as entitled to his opinions as anyone else, and he's not mean spirited about anything. He's a good ballplayer and a great team leader. That's what really matters about Carl and the White Sox.
  6. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Didn't see this posted. Short article about Crazy Carl, essentially living up to his namesake. His Wrigley slam was amusing, but a few of these comments made me a bit squeemish. Nothing he said there makes me squeamish. He's pretty much correct on everything he said in the Maxim article. I love the way all the PC media idiots are outraged over his recent comments! LOL! Carl isn't crazy. Carl rules.
  7. Someone at WSI posted that Gammons suggested the Sox may be interested in trading for Julio Lugo. FWIW
  8. Who cares what Boers says about anything? Who the hell even listens to him and his suck ass buddy Bernstein? BTW, wasn't Ditka ready to kick his ass about twenty years ago or so?
  9. Willie is an excellent defensive 2B, has great speed, and has shown an ability to draw walks and get on base. Despite today's failed bunt effort, he has shown he can lay down a good bunt this year. Willie stays. Timo should go. Everett plays outfield as well as Timo, and Willie plays CF better than Timo. When Gload is ready to return, he fills the backup 1B slot, plus he's a better LH pinch hitter than Timo.
  10. I don't hate Timo. Timo has value as a bench player. It's just that among Willie Harris, Pablo Ozuna, Ross Gload and Timo Perez, Timo has the least value to this team.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Would you trade Ozuna or Harris for someone's b level prospects??? All depends. Not in our current situation. But if we didn't have the best record in baseball, and we needed pitching, and someone offered say an equivelent of Tracey or Bajanaru and Adkins for Ozuna, yes I would. I said he would be a backup to Crede and Konerko this year, and would be around as a possibility at 3B or 1B next year.
  12. I'd like to see the Sox add a guy like Feliz to the roster by trading a minor league prospect or two (not any of our blue chip prospects however). Then, he can take the Ross Gload/Timo Perez spot on the roster. Crede would still be the primary 3B, but Feliz would see plenty of time there. He would also be the primary backup at 1B, and could play some OF as well. You keep Willie and Ozuna around because they are versatile, and they have speed, which is important for a team based on speed and defense. The only other true speedster on the roster is Podsednik, and we have many slow players in the lineup. Since Crede is a Boras client, Feliz will be around as a possibility at 3B next year, and also around as a possible 1B if they let Konerko walk.
  13. Carl Everett Rules! And that's a White Sox sweep!!! 21 over and counting...
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Carl's quote.. "As far as the Sox outfielder is concerned, the league has done everything it can to predetermine who makes the postseason by the way it sets up the schedule" No, that is not Carl's quote. That is Cowley's quote. In all of Carl's quotes, he says "the schedule makers."
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) :headshake What a dip s***. MLB doesn't even make the stupid schedules. When did Carl say MLB make out the schedules? Anyway, if there is a dip s*** around, it's Cowley.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I do not see Everett as likely to being traded. He is a big part of the chemistry and Guillen and KW have repeatedly said how important that is. This board underrates it but the players themselves have said how important fit is right now. You are correct Sir.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Timo is allowed to be on the roster and play the OF while hurt. And when he's healthy they even let him play out of position. Ross isn't allowed anywhere near the roster, let alone the OF (where I think most of us want to keep him away from anyway) while he's injured. Good point. Also, all we've been hearing is what a headache it's going to be to get Frank AB's during the interleague road trip, and how hard it's going to be to get Carl and Frank enough AB's throughout the year. So last night, when it was time to pinch hit for Garcia, who got the call??? Frank? No. Carl? No. It was Timo of course!!! I just don't get it. We already have enough outfielders. We need a backup 1B. Ross is a better hitter than Timo and is a great defensive 1B. He's been tearing the cover off the ball in AAA. How often is he going to have to make any hard throws playing primarily as a pinch hitter and a backup 1B?
  18. Those three new commercials--Paulie, Shingo/Iguchi, and Buerhle, are the WORST Sox commercials in a long time. They really dropped the ball on these, and I hope they don't do anymore of these "Angel on the L" commercials. They're just dumb.
  19. I wouldn't trade Everett or Frank. They both are very valuable to this team. Frank for obvious reasons, Everett because not only is he a quality switch hitter who can occasionally spell all three outfielders, but also for his clubhouse presence, his win at all costs attitude and his contribution to this years great team chemistry. He seems to have become the leader of this team. However, if it is true that the Sox are intent on trading one or the other, and the Angel's really need a DH, I would feel much better if we got Chone Figgins in the deal. Figgins would fit this year's White Sox quite nicely, with his speed, switch hitting and versatility. He can play 3B for Crede, spell Iguchi at 2B when he nneeds a rest, and can play all three OF positions better than Timo. He can also play some SS. I don't want to trade Carl or Frank, but again if they do, Figgins is the guy to get. Anything less, and I'd be upset.
  20. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) What sickens me in this whole situation is it reeks of Ozzie's desire to find at bats for Timo. If he would just give Carl Timo's at bats then everyone would be happy and we could get rid of Timo. Thank you! Trading Carl would be a negative blow to this team's chemistry. He has emerged as the leader of this team. With Carl as the fourth outfielder spelling Dye, Pods and Rowand (Pods in CF, Carl in LF), plus DHing a couple of times a week and some pinch hitting, both Frank and Carl can get plenty of AB's and everyone stays fresh. Timo just takes AB's away from Carl. With Gload back on the bench, Timo's role of LH pinch hitter is also taken. Keep Carl and Frank and cut Timo.
  21. If they send Willie down, you can't use your fastest runner on the bench, Ozuna, to pinch run for Frank in a critical situation because that leaves you with no backup IF's on the bench. If you do pinch run Ozuna, you can no longer pinch hit for Crede or the other IF's later, because you have no IF left to replace them. That's another reason why this would be such a bad move.
  22. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Timo = Latino Harris not = Latino Believe me, that matters with Ozzie. Just look at our roster. LOL! Maybe thet're sending Willie down to AAA to work on his Spanish???
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Guys, it was obvious this was going to happen, Ozzie likes timo because he's one of the best bunters we have and stats or not stats Timo's been a clutch hitter and yes this year too. He's been bad this year no doubt but with the few hits he has he'd had some huge ones, the homer vs minny, the bases loaded bunt and of course the hit on memorial day. Also he just had a countless number of clutch hits last year. I personally think it's the wrong move because I think willie is the better player however this move won't kill me either way. Timo's primary asset is supposedly as a "clutch" left handed pinch hitter. Well, Ross Gload also fills that role quite nicely as he has proven last year. Ozuna can play every position on the field except probably pitcher and catcher. Willie is our best defensive 2B, can back up passably at SS and CF, and hits lefty with a good OBP. Timo should be the odd man out, his clutch hitting notwithstanding.
  24. Sending down Willie while keeping Timo is just dumb. With Frank back, we already have enough trouble getting Carl, who also plays outfield. his AB's. Timo is now useless. Willie is fast, has a high OBP, plays great defense at 2b, backs up at SS and is young and improving. Timo is none of those. Willie plays outfield just as well as Timo, but Timo can't play infield. Ozuna plays all of Timo's positions as well as Timo (if not better) plus he plays all IF positions. OHHH-EEEH-OHHH, Timo must go!
