  1. He was never "on the hook" with JR, but nothing will let him off the hook with baseball people who saw that move.
  2. I haven't been to a game yet this year and don't really plan on going to see this shit unless someone gives me some really good seats for free and I have absolutely nothing else to do. No way will I pay to see this collection of players with this manager.
  3. I just turned the game on a few minutes ago so I didn't see Burger's misplays. But he's been fine at 3B for the most part so far this year. And even if he does prove to be a liability at 3B after a significant sample size, replacing him with the worst hitter in baseball is not really a good option right now. I see Burger hit another home run today.
  4. Wishful thinking. I'd be satisfied if it were just for Stone or Benetti's position.
  5. Let's say Moncada moves to 2B and starts raking. If Burger proves to be a liability at 3B or if Moncada's defense proves to be atrocious at 2B you can always move him back to 3B. But for now Burger should be the starting 3B. Period.
  6. Why mess around with a guy who has been doing pretty well and is just getting his feet wet in the major leagues? Why not move the guy who was a 2B back to a position he's at least very familiar with? If you look at total performance this season, Jake Burger has earned the starting 3B job from Moncada for now. So if you want to give Moncada a chance for regular ABs to see if he can get out of his funk you can plug him into the existing hole at 2B, or you can send him to Charlotte to play 3B every day until he gets his act together. The change of scenery (either to 2B or Charlotte) may be what he needs. And if he truly is injured like some here are saying, then he belongs on the IL not at 3B or taking up a spot on the bench.
  7. Productive yes. But not the kind of player you build around as the center of your core. More of a nice complementary piece to round out your team. And that's when he was performing well. Who knows if he'll ever perform that well again.
  8. Why isn't Yoan on the IL if he's injured? If Eloy can stay healthy and if he wants/is able to be a full time DH he would be fine as a DH on a contender. But I wouldn't build a team around him as part of the core.
  9. Eloy was always a one dimensional player and even when he has been healthy his hitting hasn't been what they expected. Of course he's stillyoung but it's hard to see how they can keep him on the field and even as a DH he seems prone to injury. Yoan was over-hyped.
  10. No, but I knew Eloy and Yoan weren't going to live up to the hype and were not the type of players to build around.
  11. Well if he's injured why the hell hasn't he been on the IL? If he's injured there is no place for him on this roster.
  12. Not the same thing. I suggested trading Yoan and Eloy a year ago. Eloy and Yoan will never be part of a championship team like Bryant and Baez were. If the Sox are still counting on Yoan and Eloy to be at the center of their so-called "championship core" then their core is hollow and their rebuild is a failure.
  13. I wish they would have traded him and Moncada when they had a chance.
  14. Moncada's defense is definitely not as good as Harrison but probably just as good as Leury's at 2B. And if not, there's no place for him - send him to Charlotte.
  15. If you leave Burger at 3B where his defense hasn't been bad, let Vaughn and Abreu alternate at 1B/DH, and keep real outfielders Pollock and Engel in the OF corners, you have a decent defensive team and the best offensive lineup you can play at this moment.
  16. If Moncada sucks that bad on defense at 2B then there's really no room for him on this roster because he sure shouldn't be starting at 3B ahead of Burger right now. Let him play 2B until if/when he gets his hitting back on track. Then if Burger begins to falter you can always move Moncada back to 3B. If his defense is so bad at 2B that he's costing games send him down to get his act together at Charlotte.
  17. Harry & Jimmy used to do it back in the day. In fact, Jimmy got fired from his post game show gig for criticizing LaRussa after a loss. LaRussa sucked when he was managing the Sox in the '80s and he's even worse now.
  18. I wonder if moving Moncada to 2B would maybe wake him up or something? Maybe standing behind the pitcher will give him a different perspective or something? I don't know, but there's no way he should be starting over Burger at 3B anymore.
