  1. Interesting. Did the player/agent go back on a deal or did the team not do it's due diligence on the contract demands?
  2. That is one way. However those players have a higher fail rate then someone who can actual hit. Take burger. They drafted solely based on his EV being one of the best in the nation. He has become an MLB player. This is a win as the vast majority don't. All teams need players who are good at both they are just really hard to find so they try to blend both. I'm not disagreeing with you ,it just not as easy as "draft or trade for players who are both good hitters and good at defense." For years KW drafted athletes and was soundly ridiculed for not drafted baseball players. When the farm system didn't produce they switched to drafting baseball players. He was then knocked for not getting the impact athletes.
  3. Everyone would love that. However players that are really good hitters AND really good on defense tend not to be available as the other team wants to keep them. They are rare. The key is to find the balance, excellent defense with passable offense or the other way around. The "athletes" don't always turn out to be good ballplayers.
  4. You can add it but depending on the pitcher, is 1-2 significant? From 92-93,? 98-100. Maybe for some but not others.
  5. Correct. However with the new age of NIL in college it may cost significantly more to get the HS kids in round 2 to skip school. If you don't believe they are quality prospects, that's a different story.
  6. Not necessarily bad idea to try for impact. Quality over quantity, I guess.
  7. Big guy with command. Jonathan Cannon-ish?
  8. Sorry, added if they are an 18 year old kid or an injury.
  9. Building velocity is nearly impossible with any significance barring injury or growth from a HS kid.
  10. Takes a really strong and longer finger to get that kind of grip on the skin of the ball instead of the seam. Most people can't get good enough spin on the ball with that grip.
  11. That's what I thought. Thanks for the info.
  12. What is the rule after the 10th? They can pay whatever they want just don't go over the 5% overage before losing a pick?
  13. Seems like the last few rounds most if the picks by all teams are unranked players. Interesting
  14. Two of the injuries were fractures of the hamate on each hand. On the plus side he doesn't have anymore hamate bones to fracture so maybe he's done with them. ?
  15. One is college, the other HS. Best in college class, best in HS class.
  16. Interesting. I hope more about this comes out. Being a medical nerd. ?
  17. Yes. He has to go through the whole process include imaging to look at the health of the graft.
  18. That's because it's not the innings, it's the max effort for most. Now a guy like Crochet would be different with his history.
  19. True. Hopefully, they've cleaned up the approach and mechanics as it's been what? 4 years since he had it.
  20. Don't need to worry about it with this kid. Been a starter his whole career.
  21. Most of it will depend on the strategy of the teams before them.
