  1. They are good at 7 out of 9 positions. Pitching should always take priority, especially when their lineup is in good shape.
  2. That's pretty strong considering the amount of time Robert and Jimenez missed.
  3. Thanks, I didn't know if there is a specific pitcher limit. The versatility of Garcia and Harrison will allow them to carry an extra pitcher early in the season when the workload of the starters will be very limited.
  4. I think some of it is the individual player. If they are a veteran they may cause issues if they are just sitting around. People don't like when TLR plays subs so frequently but some that is appeasing players.
  5. Right now the 5th OF is probably Garcia and Harrison. The advantage of their versatility is that they don't need the extra OF roster spot. Is there a limit on the number of pitchers a team can carry this year?
  6. If I read this right, at the end of a backloaded contract the cap hit is less than the actual contract, correct?
  7. You are probably right. That move will indicate their next move if any.
  8. Don't you think if there better offers he would have gone elsewhere? He came back to the Sox because woth his history, no one else would sign him.
  9. True but Boras has a way of using current contracts and getting owners to change offers.
  10. I continue to disagree thise are the priorities. However do you think either of those would be cheap when they near the cap? Not saying I agree with everything they've done. But you aren't asking for easy additions.
  11. That team was not as good as this one and they've spent near the cap which was what everyone always asked for. You will be the person that if they win a world series you will be unsatisfied, call it luck and refuse to go to a game unless they add 3 more all star players.
  12. Not with the prices and length of contracts they are going for.
  13. Really, with a team this good? You really can't be happy no matter what they do.
  14. Just depends on your perspective. If the the big market contracts are out of reach, you go elsewhere.
  15. Correct. But I meant after the lockout and after that. Once they equalized what the market was, they went elsewhere once they were allowed to sign again. So the last couple of weeks when everyone has been saying they are signing RP help and not an OF.
  16. True. There is the distinct possibility they knew the market for FA OF was starting at 5-7 years and 125 and they just decided they would use the resources elsewhere. I know many think they got caught with their pants down or misread the market. Maybe they knew the market and that's why they went elsewhere.
  17. But then the media gives them a gard time for not talking. When they are stuck there is no good choice, they need to determine which is the lesser of the evils.
  18. It's a calculated choice as to which is worse. I think all sports execs lean away from the whole truth and prefer to appease the fans a little.
