  1. These lat injuries are fairly new since Peavy had his. Its more of this dumbass follow throughs that are more lateral instead of at the plate, i think. It gets velocity on the pitch but it's taking a toll on the arm.
  2. No they don't. The get a capable backup or 2. No one acquires enough players planning for nearly half the lineup for half a season.
  3. You can't plan for half your lineup to miss 3 months or more of the season either. No team can.
  4. Well if they were confident in the players they had in system then they really didn't need to do it from outside the system in the off season. Regardless of where or when the the players came from, it has worked out pretty well to cover for significant injuries.
  5. I'll take it. Give this team a chance in the WS.
  6. Bad at creating depth? They lost 3 starting players for at least 3 months of the season and another for over two months. That's nearly half the lineup and they are still running away with the division. The players they brought up as depth performed well.
  7. One of the few movies in recent memory that I actually turned off.
  8. In all sports, coaches/ mangers have input on the roster. If it works posters compliment the person they like, if it doesn't they blame the guy they don't like. In reality none of these decisions are made in a vacuum by a single person. It is made by the group. I know people today love to blame a single person but that just isn't the way it works.
  9. He's coming off a serious injury that kept him out for months?
  10. I disagree. Cruz has shown he is hits the the Sox extremely well.
  11. Just got home How is there 7 hits and only 1 run in 3 innings? 7 hits and 1 run doesn't cut it.
  12. Unfortunately, thats what general fans are used to in other sports and baseball may need to do it to bring the game to new fans.
  13. Advice for the series. Pitch around Cruz in any important situation.
  14. Not a bad proposal. The expanded playoffs should be a good incentive for the owners. More teams in it so it will generate more interest for fans.
  15. It is a good proposal for restructuring the "salary cap." There will of course be negotiations on the actual numbers but I think the salary floor is a great way to force the teams to not tank as much and force a more competitive league.
  16. Good thing this a researched, factual and unbiased comment. ?
  17. Even if this arrangement is agreed to, you know these won't be the final numbers. It's the start of negotiations so the floor will lower and the ceiling will raise. Using these numbers to declare that the concept isn't a good one isn't dealing in reality.
  18. I agree. Fields is just too important for the Bears future to take the risk now. He may be fine but I wouldn't risk it. Give him some time.
  19. Many of the owners do pay for their own stadiums and this is where they make a large profit. They don't heavily profit from the minor leagues as they don't actually "own" them. I think the salary floor is a great way to grow the game as it will create less tanking and create a more competitive league. The idea of increased number of the teams also generates more interest with more teams in competition but it was the player who didn't want it not the owners.
  20. I guess I just look at the salary caps and floors in the other sports and the fully guaranteed contracts. The union has really kept these intact. These are huge advantages compared to other sports.
  21. It will depend on how many teams go over the 180 or whatever they negotiate the ceiling to be. The more teams that are over the more money that flows to the lower revenue teams.
  22. On this we totally agree. It will be moot if Dalton gets hurt. However, the longer he stays out the the longer Fields can hone his skills without taking the risk on their possible franchise QB. Dalton in the big picture means nothing to the franchise.
