  1. Sorry, a cheap troll job for the posters who keep reminding everyone about TLR alcohol incidences.
  2. It is somewhat surprising that is so little movement with 7 days until the deadline.
  3. As opposed to the posters who enjoy ridiculing a man with an addition and disease?
  4. The only way this works is if their mascot is Groot and their motto is "I AM GROOT"
  5. Don't you think they would release if they didn't have plans for him? They obviously think he has value for either a trade or late season call up. I wonder if there are trade talks and it's some place he doesn't want to go?
  6. We now have the new epitome of evil being. He trumps KW as anything people don't like is his fault. He is now GM and working trades while in the dugout. Good multi-tasker.
  7. If I were him I would take it as a positive that they have plans for him either in a trade or as a late season call up. If they did t have plans for him they would grant the release. I highly doubt they would.mame him stay in the minors and not give him a chance out of spite.
  8. I think it was wrong to do it publicly. The manager has every right to get on his case when he ignores him.
  9. Right but I thought he was referring more to the comfortable financial status and not ruining his career. The Bash bros were successful Right away from performance as well. I think McGwire had 49 home runs his rookie year.
  10. Not only a ring but the playoff shares and WS shares that go along with it.
  11. Puljols didn't have that success when he started neither did McGwire or Canseco. They were rookies when it started. They eventually became stars. The microscope of being a professional athlete lends itself to those types of pressures. Even if TLR let Mercedes get away with ignoring what he told him to do, which he shouldn't I don't care what need he has, something else would have done it if he can't handle it. Not being able to handle this type of pressure is why many professional athletes fail. Many have the talent but can't handle the intense pressure and scrutiny that goes with it. Mercedes is not alone in this.
  12. I agree it shouldn't have been done in public. However when he blatantly ignored what the manager wanted him to do for his own selfish reasons, he deserves a reprimand of some sort. If he can't handle that eventually something would have set him off anyway if he wants to be in the microscope of professional life. It had nothing to do with a player enjoying the game. This is a manager who had the bash Brothers, Ricky Henderson and the original stand and watch his HRS player in Albert Puljols.
  13. While all true, although there were reports out that he wasn't necessarily the nicest guy in the world, if he has those issues, something would have eventually "triggered" him and probably often. Maybe that's why he never really got a chance because people knew it was coming. It sure was fun, until it wasn't.
  14. I'm not saying it couldn't have been that incident. I doubt it but it could have been. But also that if it was, he really wasn't going to be an MLB regular anyway because if it hadn't happened, if his mental state is that fragile something else would have come along. Maybe it was and that is part of the reason he never got his MLB chance as everyone knew it was coming.
  15. I agree and I'll add that if something like that did cause him to crater, he wasn't long for the MLB anyway. The media or another player would have done something even worse eventually as his performance was quickly deteriorating.
  16. No kidding. Trying to link a strategy statistic such a bunting and giving up an out to an performance statistic such as spin rate to say TLR hates statistics is absurd. Talk about someone with an agenda to promote.
  17. Cinco cerveza fria por favor Donde esta El bano. The important phrases I learned working in the Mexican Winter League.
  18. That's great for him. Not a better person around in sports.
  19. Regardless of how they feel, plus who knows if they are honest, it's his job to make sure they are ready for the post season at this point. That increased workload will take it's toll. It may be too late once they feel it. I would prefer he be a little proactive instead of reactive when an issue arises.
  20. The important comment is that he is not going to treat the pitchers differently this year because nobody knows.
  21. According to an article on cbssports acouple of days ago, Katz said he is planning on treating all of his pitchers as if 2020 were a normal year because no one knows what the effect may be. This includes Rodon. This has me concerned about what the Sox starters will look like in the playoffs. They already have thrown more innings than most starting staffs. I think Katz may be a little short sighted here.
  22. If you want to go all pessimistic he could be like Madrigal he could need surgery and be out 3-5 months.
  23. Nothing really for the Sox. Says they could use a 2B. Adam Frazier and Javier Baez are possible targets.
