Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
ptatc replied to Vote4Pedro's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All of this means that the character guys were not character guys. The clubhouse environment is by the players not the organization as a whole. Most managers have usially allow the veterans to run it. Especially, in today's game. Very few managers try to control the clubhouse and get a terrible rep if they do. The managers will talk to the veterans about what they want done but not to the whole clubhouse. -

However they can get motivated. Lord knows some of the others should take note. -
If you read stories from around the league, nearly all of them are calling the off season underwhelming. I wonder if they all look at what the dodgers can spend and think the only way they can compete is through player development. Or if they all are refusing to play the game with Boras as he Co trolls the best players left. Interesting off season.

No reason to open the books until the union agrees to a salary cap.

Depends on the demographic. People with kids and us old people, no. Younger ones without kids, yes.

I didn't hear the actual discussion just heard from other about it being a huge discussion. Parkins is just an ass who likes controversy for its own to raise ratings and truly believes he knows more than people in the industry. -

Just more sensationalism to get viewers/listeners. Apparently his friend Parkins (?) on a station here helped him with it as he declared it could be the worst thing ever for the bears as they would have the chance at a franchise qb and then be denied that chance. -
Could be true but if Bellinger fall off the cliff with production it won't last long and could set the team back years with an awful deal. The Bulls are at least medicore a bad Bellinger doesn't make the Sox mediocre, even a good one probably doesn't
-
Maybe, I would not take the chance thatast year was just a good contract year and with a long term deal he would revert to the player from the last couple of years with the dodgers. That's a long multi-year commitment from a team that has strict budget levels.

Word gets around. It's still not a good way to do it. Should an organization State publicly that a player was out too late and hungover so he couldn't play? Should they say he is an ass and wouldn't listen to coaches. Should they say he is sleeping with his teammates significant other and isn't a good teammate? These are all things other teams may want to know before they sign him. These are all on par with saying the culture is bad or team is bad so don't play for them.

That's why I said pretty well. If you have player that won't play, they at at got some decent players with merriman and rivers out of the deal. Williams has the sway and f he sits out a year, I believe. He's made enough with the NIL money to get by. -
There is no doubt it's true. But if you don't want to be called out in public than you should do it to others including the organization.
-
Sure they do. But again if the player doesn't want to be called out in public they should handle this privately as well. They can talk to players or agents without doing it publicly. If you want to be treated a certain way you need to treat others that way as well.

The one worked out pretty well for the chargers. The Elway one did not do so well for the Colts. -
I disagree. Players don't want to be called out in public, they want it kept in the clubhouse. Same should apply to them.
-
Signing Bellinger to the deal he wants would be an awful move.
-
I don't buy anything that comes out in the media in general from any team source. They only let out what they want you to know. If it comes from a player, it's usually the same or a disgruntled one. Maybe working too many years in the industry has made me cynical but there is too much going on behind the scene that the fans and media never hear about that really skews anything reported.

He was also a unique hitter in that he hit off his front leg as opposed to keeping his weight back. Much of his decrease performance in his latter years was from his fracture of his left foot which destroyed his arch. He could no longer load onto that foot. He really couldn't run at all either. Hits that would be doubles would be singles. The supports that he wears in his left shoe even today are substantial.

While it's not good for hitting in general we all know the hitters in today's game are paid by HR and power. This is why everyone is teaching it.

Heard a comedian with a great joke about the difference between millenials and Gen x. The perfect example of the difference is that Taylor swift sings whiny songs about exs while Stevie nicks wrote songs about her ex and sang them to him while she made him sing backup and play the guitar on stage. -
Maybe not failed, but there were serious concerns.
