  1. Yes you have. You stated that he has a valuation of players and what they are worth and he won't change that. That's one thing you like about him.
  2. We don't know that 75% of the bidders aren't close. It sounds like from the reports that more teams are entering which implies that most are in competition. These reports could be wrong but it seems more likely that they are in the competition rather than out.
  3. There is no reason to think that this is "best and final" stage yet. Some of the competition may be waiting on Snell to accept or decline their offer which will change their offer to the Sox for Cease. For example the Yankees may lose snell to the giants. Now they really want Cease and add another prospect to the deal.
  4. Yes you are engaging the other 8 in an attempt to get them to up their offer. Maybe they were trying to low ball you and get you to come down. You continue to engage everyone who has expressed interest. They may not raise their offer but you continue to try until they tell you they are out.
  5. Yes because the original offer of the 2 @500k may have been at 400 k and they had to raise it to compete. You are treating the negotiations like each team had one offer and only one offer. That's not reality. The current package from each team is changing and the offers today will not be the same as tomorrow. More teams in, the more competition. If the Yankees sign snell the offers may go down as there is less competition.
  6. I still disagree. The franchise QB, if they think one of the guys is, will change the direction of the organization. They can win with an average QB but all of the draft capital has to go right and very few mistakes can be made. It is less likely to work. Of course it can be its less likely.
  7. How many games has Jackson missed in his career compared to pocket QBs? Of course everyone can get injured, I see it everyday, I wouldnt have a job if they didn't. However look at track record and it is a significant risk.
  8. It always matters as more teams bidding drives up the price. Teams get desperate if they determine they need upgrades to win. They are willing to bid more to get the player. This is true whether it's money or prospects. If Baltimore is just going to give their best offer at the beginning of the negotiations and never waver, it's less likely they will get him. They might have the best offer but it's less likely.
  9. More teams in the bidding the less likely that the Orioles make the trade if Elias sticks to his pre-market valuation of Cease.
  10. Is it a good thing that a New York team joins the bidding. ?
  11. So of course 2023 is what he will be going forward, not 2022 or 2021.
  12. There are a couple of similarities in the situation. 1. Is it the passing offense or that the coaching staff realizes the limitations of the qbs. If it's the passing offense you are assuming the coaches are idiots which is a possibility. 2. Are these qbs players who the teams win because of or can win with. If the Bears have a chance to get a QB that they can win because of, it's tempting. 3. The style of these two leads to a greater chance of injury. Do teams want to take that chance of a lucky season without injury in order to win the super bowl.?
  13. The worst result and it very possible is that they keep Fields, trade the pick then Fields remains the same inconsistent qb next year and gets the entire coaching staff fired. Now they need to start everything over with the new coaching staff and sets back the development of all the drafted players and the team goes back to the no man's land of 8-9 records.
  14. I would be surprised if he does this. I think he realizes that he only gets limited shots at this type of qb without trading massive assets to get him
  15. This is not the way a GM should think. A fan yes, not the GM.
  16. I hope Sunday doesn't impact the decision. If they haven't decided after nearly 40 starts, one shouldn't matter. The offers for the pick and Fields should have a greater bearing.
  17. I don't think so. I think the bears take a QB at 1.
  18. The bears tried that with Nagy. Didn't work so well.
  19. Of course Levine mentions the cubs. Their big spending spree after getting counsel hasn't materialized yet.
  20. That would be part of the negotiations. This discussion will end in one of 2 ways. 1. The trade happens with Baltimore and their fans will say they gave up too much and the Sox fans will say they didn't get enough. 2. The trade happens with another team and the Baltimore fans will say they were glad they didn't trade for him because it was too much and the Sox fans will say Getz screwed up because he didn't get enough.
  21. Or these are negotiations where they are still talking?
  22. Since it's all hypothetical at this point, no one is right or wrong. But no one will admit it.
  23. I was referring more to the circular discussions.
