I think a good portion of the value difference is the ownership of the ballpark and surrounding real estate. Can you imagine what they could sell that for to a developer? -
Got it. I would agree.
-
Is your point that they should have a partially public funded new stadium? They already have a fully public funded one.
-
Depends on if was mostly labrum or the actual capsule. The labrum is around 60-80% for return to prior level of performance. The actual capsular repair is below 50%.
-
Yeah, the bottom line is if they were making money whether it be from attendance or sponsorship , they wouldnt move.
-
That is a tough one to get right. The need to guess how tight to make it. Too tight and there isn't enough flexibility to get the velocity needed. Too loose and the instability and symptoms are still there.
-
Hopefully not for the whole season. See if Montgomery gets a call up halfway through the season or so.
-
That's fine. I just enjoy the game. The extended playoffs keep more teams and fans interested deeper into the season. The playoff games in 2000 and 2005 were fun environments.
-
With the advent of interleague play and the balanced schedule, they are slowly moving towards making divisions irrelevant. Just go back to the top 7 or 8 teams in each league making the playoffs regardless of division. Jist depends on how many byes you want for the first round.

He was able to return at the end of last year. While hardly conclusive, it's a positive sign.
-
No. The injury risk is too high for a team with a strict budget limit. Unless it for an AAV under 12 or so.
-
Agreed, we know they will have a limit. It just that no one knows where it is so it's all just guessing.
-
This I would agree with. Eloy is not an indispensable hitter. He is a hitter that is better than most of the others they have in the team. If they can trade him for anything more useful include money to sign a better starting pitcher, do it.
-
If you want to cherry pick stats and arbitrarily say the 3 years means more fine. His 785 OPS is still well above the AL average of 730 over the past couple of years. So yes he still has a useful bat for a team that is well below average offensively. If you can say they will replace him with a much better hitter, I would agree. But until they get much better hitters, he is useful to this team.
-
Yes. He should try to leverage his position to help his team as much as possible. That's his job. If MLB let's him move (which is really what they wanted) and Oakland didn't want to concede ti the ridiculous demands (and they shouldn't) then let them go. This is the way it has always been in baseball. Just look at the A's themselves. They've been in Kansas City, Philadelphia, Oakland and now Vegas. Many people are pushing for the antitrust exemption to be repealed/revoked. This is what the result would be. If the politicians really want to give them the money, it's in them. This wouldn't happen if the MLB didn't really want a team in Vegas. They want to go exploit new revenue markets. The Bay area still has the Giants.
-
Each individual year doesn't hold as much weight as the entirety of his career. You can spin it anyway you want but his career OPS is 811. The that is a useful bat in the lineup that shouldn't just be given away for nothing.
-
I do. It would be negligent if the owner didn't do everything possible to help the franchise. The more debt they run the less they can put towards the franchise.
-
I don't understand why people continually berate owners for asking to have cities/states to build stadia. It good business if you an get someone else to pay for it. Blame the politicians who approve it. They are the one who shouldn't do it. It's an awful thing and they continue to approve them.
-
Seems like most of his injuries are running to first base. I know he had the pec repair after going over the wall.
-
Fair point about the splits. Where did you read that no one wants him as an OF?
-
And..... No one mentioned anything about a position.
-
And in 2022 he had an OPS of 858. His career OPS, is 811. A bigger sample size than last year.
