  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) During a game like this, you just gotta sit back, relax, grab the latest issue of Baseball America, and strap 'er down. just got it today Good article on DePodesta and LA. They are playing well. (trying not to think of the missed opportunities in this game)
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) What the hell is your problem? When DJ, who rarely makes an analysis, says the same thing....maybe it was actually a dumb pitch? Also, since when is saying the Sox deserve to lose trollish? That doesn't mean I'm not cheering for them to win. It's just a simple statement that we've made some dumb mistakes, and haven't had any clutch hits while Tampa has 3, 2 out RBI. This is the same way we played last year against them and it killed us. I think we had a losing record against them didn't we?
  3. QUOTE(ptatc @ May 9, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Let's get it done Crede!!!! Guess not.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 9, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) And I'd be doing myself and every member of this band a disservice if I didn't perform THE HELL OUT OF THIS! Edit: and yes, it's a take off of BOC. Thanks, i thought so.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) 2 quick outs. Lugo up... That is a great skit from SNL. Was it a take off of BOC?
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:14 AM) In a situation that involves back/neck/spine type injuries you ALWAYS overreact. If there is a broken bone in the spine, one wrong move can result in paralysis. They did exactly what they were supposed to do there. True. As I stated though, you could tell from the video he was fine. I have had more than one patient walk around with a fractured bone in the cervical region for a week before it was found. It all depends if it is displaced or not.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Just so people know, giving oxygen to a player in that situation is a common practice. If there was a neck injury suffered by Zaun, the personnel on the field took way too long getting him immobilized and into the ambulance. High dose steroids needs to be given as soon as possible in severe situations. Hopefully, it's just a concussion (even though that's bad enough). While he was on the field he was moving all of the extremities and alert. The board and collar were precautionary and routine. The extent of the concussion is the key.
  8. QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Hell, just about every prognosticator said Anderson was a sadnwich or 2nd rounder in that draft and that Sweeney would go before him. All Anderson does is hit. Everywhere he's been. Alot of people were scared of the wrist injury that eventually needed surgery. He has come back nicely from it and it appears the worries were unwarranted.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Can he hit my Weiss beer compadre? I know he's had a few pinch hits but his stats aren't overwhelming at the minor league level. Just curious. The only time I've seen him play was at the major league level, with the Cubs. And then, only sporadically. I wonder why they signed him. Maybe they feel they need a veteran presence, or is this a precursor to another move (unrelated to injury)? He does have a pretty good stick. It's probably 4th or 5th outfielder quality. His defense is a thing that will keep him as a part time player.
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) Does anyone think Donn Paul sounds like Jimmy from South Park? A couple of friends and I were discussing that yesterday!!!!!
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) I actually know a guy in Naperville who might be at his surly level. I thought everyone in Naperville drank white wine with thier pinky out and were Flubs fans. Oh, that may be why he is surly
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Give me a f***ing break. He had the bases loaded bunt single, and hit a homer minutes after Garland crapped his pants in Minnesota giving up the 3-R HR to Stewart. Give it a f***ing rest already. Ozzie isn't listening to you. :headshake I was at that game and I stood there for a minute after it amazed at the play. I'm not necessarily a big fan of Timo's but that was a great play and took HUGE balls to execute properly.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Yeah, gooch got f***ed over on that call. You're right. How can the umps keep missing easy calls. Most of the mistakes we are seeing aren't really all that close.
  14. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Can anyone explain to me what was wrong with the batters box today? And also what happened in CF later in the game that Rooney and Farmio were pissed over? I was at work today and got to listen to the game a bit but have no idea what happened. The batters box is made of hard clay. It got wet and they put quick dry on top of it. There was still some wetness and the quick dry became like pebbles on the wet clay so everyone was slipping.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I remember him going to Japan, but I think he was back in the minors last year. IIRC I saw him when he was down in Charlotte last year (playing for another team). I know one thing, he could always rake the ball down in the minors. I agree. He was with the marlins in the minors when I was there. Not only a guy who can hit but a good guy overall.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) One thing that I DEFINTELY want to see overcome is the first time we face any pitcher, they might as well be Cy f***ing Young. I know others notice that too... so let's break that schnied, shall we? I agree. Let's hope the advance scouts did thier DD.
  17. QUOTE(quickman @ May 6, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) since we are giving advice, anything Jim H says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I thought that was just tequila
  18. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) solid article, but im surprised it came from perry, hes usually such a huge obp guy as I recall, didn't he write an article ripping the Sox for the off season? When you win eveybody can windsock.
  19. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Dunno why that would be in green... I meant to bold it, just habit I guess. But as you can see by the reply, it's the response I expected. "Them's all the same to me"
  20. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) yeah and while were at it why not acquire kaz ishii and kaz matsui and ching meng weng and hideo nomo, chin hui tsao, bhyung hung kim. nakamura, just bring in the whole japanese players to play with us At least get your rant correct. Half of the players you listed are korean
  21. From the stats in the article its bad if you start off winning too much. "But they ought to know that two of the last four teams to top .700 in April (the 2003 Royals and 2001 Twins) failed to make the playoffs. And dating all the way back to 1982, one of every three teams like that (nine of 27) failed to make it." Let's hope we don't fall into that category.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 4, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Needs a slump buster.... I'm Blind,,,,I'm Blind!!!!!!!
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ May 4, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) Imagine your experience downstairs with just a bit more biting cold wind! Wow, it was cold up there last nite ... I'm still thawing out. I went with an old college buddy, I mean it was about as cold of a ballgame as I can recall. Wow. Or at least in 540 it was cold. At least it was warm in Ricobene's before the game though. I LUUUUV Ricobene's
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) We got to get into the park a little after 5 yesterday and got to see Frank hitting... He was placing the ball all over the field with solid hits.. hitting several just short of the wall. Ran a bit as well. Looked good. Claims he feels no pain just a bit of stiffness. Positive news IMO. That is great news. With the way the offense is performing we need him back as soon as possible.
