its good that you can make up things to act like your right...i never said that steve lillywhite WROTE dave matthews music...but it is true that i said that he can't make a studio album post steve lilly white...and you didn't prove anything, because i threw in remember to things as a concession, its nowhere near as good as under the table or before these crowded streets, and as you guys are all jumping on the bandwagon of saying i portrayed myself as arrogant, maybe you should realize that you are now attacking a poster, while i was attacking a band. And just as you think that he made good albums somehow post lillywhite, i think he makes adult comtemporary garbage. At least i gave reasons to why dave matthews sucks and credence that he made good albums in the past, why you feel so insecure about liking dave matthews i don't know, when someone says they don't like a band i don't like i can back up why it sounds good to me, everyone responding to me acts like I shot a baby. If i started an official music thread, i guarantee you i wouldn't get as upset as you guys would if people came in and said they sucked.

 

 

I like ONE album post lillywhite. And BTCS is better than UTTAD.

I'm certainly not going to act like I'm some musically superior person because I don't like them. That's sort of my point.

I'm not sure what youre valid points were, maybe it was saying that it was the worst piece of adult temporary garbage in a long time. Or saying he sucks at guitar without proof, like when I showed tabs to a song that you'll never be able to play in your life, not saying that you would want to. Maybe it was when you said Lillywhite wrote DMB's music and that he gave them creative juices, which, was clearly wrong, like I had proven. But you dont care about the other opinions and continue to throw out there, dave matthews sucks. Your own opinion, not backed up by some mythical facts that you clame are the absolute and undisputed truth.

and to bmags, saying that Lillywhite made the band is a falacy. The songs were written and performed wayyy before they worked with him.

 

I'm really curious as to how boring a song like The Stone would sound to someone who's actually picked up a guitar. IMO the hardest DMB song to play.

And yes i'm familiar with dave matthews and phish covering bands that can create original music, frankly i think he relies on those cover songs during his shows to pick up the energy where his music can't, as was the case with when he brought out super freak in my opinion...

I really dont understand the hatred for Phish, DMB, Grateful Dead, and such on this board. Even Coldplay gets a bad rap over at Soxtalk, apparently the majority here are into punk, metal, or hard rock.

Again that's how I feel, I see it alot at shows and hate sitting on the lawn. But that's where my friends are and thats what some of them do. Me, I'm there for the music.

I'm entering this thread after seeing him 5 times... and hopefully red rocks in a few weeks if my aunt can come up with tickets.

 

 

First, bmags, saying he owes lillywhite his life is outrageous. He wrote and performed ALL of the songs on UTTAD and R2T BEFORE being signed. And some of the Crash and Before these Crowded Streets songs.

 

Also, Everyday was their worst album. No disagreement.

 

Stand Up isnt as good, but live the songs take on a new life.

 

However, Busted Stuff was good. Steve Harris did a nice job with producing what Lillywhite couldnt finish.

whats worse is he is getting lazy, not just with his albums but with his setlists...he's playing the same shows over again...

 

 

here, however you lose credibility. As a grown up, you would probably know that it is an album tour, so the setlists have mostly songs from the new album and are of course going to be similar.

 

But calling the band lazy, hell, I bet you werent aware that last weekend at the Gorge they covered the great Beatles tune "Blackbird."

 

Or at Alpine Valley when they busted out So Much to Say>Anyone Seen the Bridge Jam>Superfreak (yes the rick james song)>Too Much without stopping a beat.

 

Maybe you werent aware that during Jimi Thing at Alpine this year he covered Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth."

 

Nope, the Dave Matthews Band is lazy.... I for one blame the new album on Mark Batson, who they will be recording with again this January, and hopefully he will be a little more hands off.

hey it's all I could find, I didn't exactly record the 2003 Finals or have anything else readily available.  the point is there's someone else who agrees, and that was way too long to be written by someone who has no idea what they're talking about.  you're in the same boat as me, neither of us has seen him play in more than a year, and I'm the only one with a smidgen of proof, other than "I'm a goalie," which doesn't mean much because I've also played hockey my whole life, and while I suck at goalie, I'm still somewhat knowledgeable about it.

 

 

I'll disagree again, I've seen him play more than a year... I always thought he was gonna suck until 2002.

 

But the guys writing on that site are biographers who did guys like Jason Kidd and Marshal Faulk, not hockey analysts...

well I haven't seen hockey in a while, but there were a lot of people criticizing JS Giguere's glove hand, calling it his one weakness.  but I do remember a lot of straight shots that scored on him were glove side.

 

 

I'll disagree here, being a goaltender myself, Giguere was a butterfly goalie, go down and use your enormous padding to stop shots. If anything is his weakness, its his post to post movement. I've never heard him be criticized about his glove hand before. I've heard him criticized about puck handling though...

Nope, 2 years with the hawks in 96-97 and a year with the flames in 98. I doubt he had a 92 hockey card

Khabibulin is more than a "solid goaltender".  Irbe played over his head, and Giguere could be an all-time great if he improves his glove.

 

Where do you get this, improves his glove? You must be a goalie or a goalie instructor...
