QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Is it wrong to hope that Alexei can't play tomorrow so hopefully Hot Fire will be in there at 3B (Vizquel to SS) for the game tomorrow in which I will be attending.....? What if you get stuck with Lillibridge.

I thought Lillibridge had one of his better games.

7 in a row. Not bad, not bad at all.

QUOTE (Chisox_fan @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Hawks were on last week's issue of SI (June 20 edition) - link to cover: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/cov...11430/index.htm That was the regional cover. They put Strasberg on the national cover. -

I hope we light him up. Revenge for the Blackhawks not getting the national cover of SI. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) So I popped for Lies My Teacher Told Me on Ebay. I am interested to say the least. You can find so many awesome used books on ebay. It's like a used book store that has every book ever written.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) And our hitting and bullpen is still mediocre. So there's no reason to think that once we start playing good teams again that we'll keep playing over .500 ball. I think the bullpen is better than mediocre.

Senators propose granting president emergency Internet power

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) On a similiar note, anyone see that 60 Minutes piece about cyberwarfare? Using the internet to gain access to various utility services? http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10393170-83.html Pretty interesting. I'm wondering wtf utility companies have their equipment on global servers. Can't they set up localized networks that can't be hacked into? Perhaps Obama's proposed powers stems from fear of something like this happening (though I would think that that point it'd be too late). And how many billions would the economy lose if he did shut down the internet, even for a day? Hell even if he shut it down for an hour or two. -
The new banner rocks. Good job!!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) Helen Keller was a socialist too. Actually a USSR apologist. It's funny, because every kid grows up learning how she learned to write and went to college but after that it just stops and we know nothing of her adult life. There's a lot of stuff like that you don't read until you are out of school.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) I didn't know Orwell was a socialist, that's kind of ironic considering 1984 was used as anti-Soviet propaganda. He was a hardcore anti-Stalinist. Orwell fought with Marxist groups in the Spanish Civil War. A sniper actually got him in the throat, almost killed him.

Animation movies always get positive reviews.

Made a mistake? Dumping millions of gallons of oil into the gulf is not a mistake. It's a disaster of epic proportions.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) I agree with him. It'd be one thing if BP hadn't already set up a claims system (and hadn't paid nearly 50% of the claims already submitted). Obama just wants to make this political - every claim that gets paid out is all thanks to Obama, not BP. So you don't think BP should pay for this?
-
I think we all owe BP an apology Joe Barton

Alex Jones is a nutjob. I'm sure he's making a nice buck selling movies like this. I like that he sells a t-shirt about the evils of socialism, but he also sells a t-shirt with a George Orwell quote. Orwell was an open socialist.

QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) OK So, I was watching the military channel, and I started thinking about how life must have been way back in the day as a Jew in the days of Hitler ..and honestly it scared the mess out of me!! In my opinion, that had to be the scariest way to live .. ever!! It got me curious to know what you all thought? What moment in history do you think would have been the scariest to live? ..Whether it be dinosaur days or whatever, I wanna know!!! During the Nazi regime would have been awful. Also during the Rwandan genocide. That would have been hell on Earth. The alternate 1985 in Back to the Future seemed f***ed as well.

I picked up Snoopy Flying Aces on Xbox Arcade. It's a really fun game for only 10 bucks.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) e3 going on now. Nintendo's Wii line-up looks pretty sick. Zelda, GoldenEye, Epic Mickey, Metroid Other M, Kirby, Retro's Donkey Kong Country 4. Epic Mickey in particular is looking like the game of the show. Microsoft bombed all over the place. I thought Microsoft did pretty well. Halo Reach, Gears of War 3, Fable 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Exclusive deal with Call of Duty to get to get map packs first. Kinect looks to be pretty cool.

Toughest trophy to win in sports
GoSox05 replied to SoxFan1's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Out of MLB, NHL, NBA and the NFL. I would say MLB. You got one team that hasn't won it in 100 years. Two teams that went over 80 years without winning it and all three of those teams are the big franchises, not small market teams. A lot of teams have never come close to winning it. I think its because of the small amount of teams that make the playoffs every year and the time it takes to rebuild a franchise. -
