QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) Thought this was pretty interesting.... http://www.therightscoop.com/watch-the-gle...ecember-7-2009/ So Beck thinks that Obama is being controlled being Robert Creamer, because they are both from IL and were at the same party. They are also working together to turn America into some kinda progressive wonderland. Side note on Beck. I think it's funny that he uses a picture of Martin Luther King in his little opening segment. MLK was a socialist and really didn't hide it. Shouldn't Beck be attacking his evil ways?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Heyman said the Yanks will still consider Damon. It does mean Hideki Matsui should be available for sure. Can Matsui still play the field or is he a DH now?
-
I wonder if this means that Damon isn't gonna be brought back.

What are some of the players the Sox might look to get from the Rays for Jenks?

If we signed Crawford to a long term deal right away. Than I would think about it, but otherwise it would be dumb.

Charlie Weis takes a shot at Pete Carroll
GoSox05 replied to 266344's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Maybe Weis should have been more focused on winning football games, than who Carroll is sleeping with. Pete Carroll is kinda of a tool, but at least he wins football games. -
This article is about Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pretty good read. http://www.thenation.com/doc/20091207/scahill

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) If it was a spoken word quiz, I'm fairly certain I would have gotten another 10 or so. The only areas I was truly lacking knowledge was central/southern Africa (where I got some, but a bunch I didn't), and the Carribbean (It's always confusing to me how many of those small islands are actually countries). Another thing is, countries change names, which is weird. For example, I typed in Congo - no response. Typed in Zaire - no response. Typed in Democratic Republic of Congo, and that worked. Same thing with Burma. I typed in Burma, but it put it in there as Myanmar. I'm not sure which name they go by.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 09:06 AM) The lack of geography knowledge in the US astounds me. Speaking of which... I just remembered that ChiSox_Sonix and I, I think, had some sort of a challenge a while back on this topic. totally forgot to do that. We should find an online test or something. This is fun. http://www.sporcle.com/games/world.php

I think Linebrink has a bounce back season. He could also be awful again, but i'm positive he will be better.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) It's a bit pricey for my taste although browsing at the menu wouldn't tip you off. They portions are kind of tapas style so you wind up ordering a bunch of things. At $9 or $10 a pop it adds up. But you have to try it once. I've been wanting to go eat a fancy dinner, but most fancy places are steak houses or seafood places.

I always wanted to go to Green Zebra.

I could see getting one or two of these wrong, but how the f*** do you get less than 6 right? Like was there someone who got like 3 right. s***.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) I'm just as skeptical of continued involvement as you are, but they really can't do that. We can't either.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) And that helps secure Pakistan how? Maybe we should invade Pakistan too.
-
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) Umm, no not really. If that were true, the Taliban wouldn't have been looking to do power grabs of large swaths of Pakistan over the last year. They represent a violent, extremist view of politics in Afghanistan and they aren't the majority by any means. Than let the people of Afghanistan get rid of them.
-
People keep talking like we can get rid of the Taliban from Afghanistan. The Taliban are Afghanistan. They are not some invading force. They are citizens of that country. Insane as they may be. Its up to the people of Afghanistan to change that.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) Forget Chicago. . . These guys are great friends of mine and run a fabulous tea shop with the best selection of loose tea you've ever seen in your life. The also have a lot of nice samplers and everything is now available for online shopping. Can you recommend some of the teas from there?

Left 4 Dead 2 is awesome. It's nothing ground breaking, but its fun as hell. You can now use melee weapons.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) If Saddam Hussein had spent half as much time working to provide his population with drinking water as he did to sell his oil on the black market between 1991 and 2003, we never would have needed to have this conversation. Just because Saddam Hussein was a ruthless dictator doesn't give us the right to punish the people of Iraq. It didn't work there and it hasn't worked in Cuba. All it does is help build resentment for the United States. In those countries and other countries around the world. We've had the same backwards ass foreign policy in the middle east and south central Asia for the past 50 plus years. It's never worked and yet we still think more bombs and more troops will work.
