What we need is more AK-47's in this country. Countries with AK-47's have no problems.

I just saw the trailer for the new Punch-Out! game for Wii. Some of the same guys from the first are gonna be in it. Glass Joe and Kingo Hippo were in the trailer.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) What a great game! That 6 minute penalty kill was epic, but Buffalo seemed to lax up thinking they had so much time. WE had the best scoring chance in that 6 minutes. haha, that toews goal was maybe the most boring hockey goal I've ever seen. I was at the game and most people in the stadium weren't sure that Toews scored for about 5 minutes. -
QUOTE (Soxy @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) When did "elite" become a dirty word? I mean, isn't elite better that mediocre? Wouldn't we rather be an elite nation than a mediocre one? Seriously. Its part of the dumbing down of the country. People who read and look things up are now "elitist".

I'm hoping they trade for Figgins just so we never have to hear the rumors of trading for figgins again. I think even if we trade for him there will still be rumors. Rumor - White Sox looking to trade themselves for Figgins.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) I'm thinking of doing that too. I just don't like the obvious price gouging. But I figure I will eventually fill it up as I install certain games on my hard drive. The 120 is pricey. They sell some refurbished ones on ebay for a little bit cheaper. I picked up a data migration kit to tranfer from one hdd to another.

I'm looking to upgrade my Harddrive for Xbox, I currently have a 20gb. Should I go to 60gb or 120gb? I just wonder if I will ever use 120gb.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) no kidding. That position and that production...arod cash. No big deal if he was on a big market club, but the Twins gotta be looking at trading him sometime next year. Hopefully to the NL.

Surprise!... Hamas Supporters Use Children as Human Shields
GoSox05 replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) I'm not really up to date on this as I try to avoid the news as much as possible now, but I don't see any problems with anyone bombing the s*** out of Hamas. Hamas is no good scum, and should be have the s*** bombed out of them. If civilians die, oh well, get used to it. It's freaking WAR! Sure, it sucks for the innocent people who are harmed and killed, and I do truly feel sorry for them and hope God has mercy on their souls, but war isn't suppossed to be pleasant. And when you have terrorists like Hamas using public places and schools as hideouts for their operations, there isn't much of a choice. Call me callas, call me cold hearted, call me whatever, but terrorist scum like Hamas needs to be destroyed. I think its easy to sit over here and say "Bomb the s*** out of them" "Kill'em all". Because you never have and never will have to watch your childern bombed. I think if you had to walk in someone elses shoes, you would sing a different tune. To what Alph dog was saying. Move them out? Kill them? How far does it go. How about we just kill all palestinians. Problem solved right? Its a nice final solution. -
I wouldn't like to have Mauer when its contract time

Surprise!... Hamas Supporters Use Children as Human Shields

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) To echo ss2k, what planet are you living on? Show me ONE condemnation of Hamas in the UN. You might actually find one. I'll show you HUNDREDS condemning Israel for DEFENDING itself. As for Israel attacking schools, get the f***ing rocket launchers out of schools and they dont get hit! Shooting rockets from a school is against all the so-called rules of war, but are they called on it? Maybe on your planet, but not on this one. So let me ask you this. Do you think that Israel has ever done anything wrong? Are they 100% justified in what is happening right now? -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) I think he means by Western governments, the strongest thing that is ever said to Israel is a glorified "hey guys can you try not to do that, thanks, if it's too much trouble no big deal though" when they get rebuked. Yes I meant Western goverments. Which is the United States, but also the media. I think they are afraid to criticize Israel. -
QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) 30/Bridgeport I can't be the only one from the southside... 28/Bridgeport.

GoSox05 replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
Both are to blame. The problem is that when Hamas fires a rocket into Israel they are condemned and rightfully so. Whe Israel fires rockets into schools in Gaza nothing is said. Saying that I have no answers on this. It can seem so endless. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) All I can think of is like Game Works type joints. Dave and Busters has arcade games. They also have like carnival games and what not. Plus booze.

Has anyone else had any problems with Gears of War 2? I keep getting a "unreadable disc" message when I play. It happens at random. I exchanged it for a new one, but same problem. No other game has this problem on my Xbox.

More homicides in Chicago than US troops killed in Iraq
GoSox05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
So are you saying that Chicago is more dangerous than Iraq? I'm sure more people have died in Iraq due to the war than have been murdered in Chicago in the last 20 years. -

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) I believe that the Dems, if they haven't already, are well on their way of claiming possession of the 'Culture of Corruption' tag line. Thank god we have the republicans who have never been in trouble. Ever. -
I like the idea of selling high on Gavin, but we are already short on starting pitching.

I can never remember what albums came out from the past year. The Hold Steady - Stay Positive is the best album of the year. Unless I forgot about something else.

Is it really suprising? If they want to keep doing things like that, fine with me. They will just lose election after election. Limbaugh is just becoming more and more out about his racism. Maybe he could get David Duke to fill in for him.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) I knew I remembered someone on Soxtalk talking about this movie. I haven't seen it but the reviews from screenings across America have been overwhelmingly positive. I know this isn't always an accurate guage of a movie's quality, but IMDB already has it listed as one of their Top 250 movies. Unfortunately for us casual moviegoers, unless you have a DVD player capable of reading Region 2 DVDs you'll have to wait unitl its US release on March 10th. Until then I'm probably going to drive to Borders and pick up a copy of the book sometime this week. Another excellent foreign horror film is [rec]. I don't know when it's being released in America, though. Let the right one in was an amazing movie. I suggest people check that one out when it comes out on dvd. It was by far one of the best movies this year.

This is getting way off topic but I don't think Reagan had much to do with the Soviet Union falling apart. Mikhail Gorbachev and the activists he inspired had more to do with it. Reagan and Thatcher were in power for years and never did much. Until Mikhail Gorbachev came along. You could almost say that Reagan helped prolong it. American military spending for the cold war helped strengthen hard-liners in the Soviet Union. People in the Soviet Union were ready to rid themselves of the totalitarian state. Also what Reagan did in Central America and Afghanistan was nothing short of criminal.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) I'm talking about the pattern of behavior the far left has established since Nov. 5, this happens to fit in that pattern. I go to the blogs, they cry about everything and act like the sky is falling because Obama is at least acting like he wants to engage the right which is what he said in his campaign. I just find it obnoxious, and at the same time it makes me laugh. I don't want a leftist version of Bush. That would be a disaster. The middle won the election for him, FWIW. I just can't bring myself to care about this or see why I should. I'm more worried about what Obama ACTUALLY DOES in regards to gays once he's inaugurated, or at least things that come out of his mouth, or some official in his administration. This whole "he-said by proxy" BS went on through the whole campaign. I do agree we need to wait till he actually is President.
