There's spreading your message, and then there's just being of

QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) I don't believe that many, and certainly not most, religious signs mention baby killers. But maybe in your neck of the woods. If the ad was to help other people for the the sake of helping others, why was God even mentioned? Isn't helping people for the sake of helping enough? Why must you reject God in the process? Maybe they are trying to promote atheism also. -

QUOTE (sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) My guess is that you're not religious, therefore, you're not really the target of the offense. So it makes sense you're not offended. I don't have to be the target of something to take a offense of it. I just don't think its offensive. -

American Humanist Association is an organization that promotes secular and other forms of humanism. The ad is centered around helping other people for the sake of helping other people. Not because what will happen to you in the afterlife or your because god tells you to do it. I think its pretty straight forward and un offending. Much better than most religious signs that call people "baby killers" or tell us that we are "going to burn in hell". -
Cat Stevens is pretty good.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Nothing specific. It gave me the ability to select multiple choices. All of mine were commerce/business related. secretary of state? Head of the EPA?

I like Obama, but he is no where near the most liberal in the senate. Bernie Sanders often talks about how funny it is that people say Obama is more liberal than him.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) I'm fairly certain he was referring to transparency. To a degree I think that will be true but it's not like Obama's campaign was an open book to media. I just want accountability. Too many scandals were able to be crushed by Bush hiding behind executive privilege. Breaking the law is no privilege. Yeah this is what I meant. Well said.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) No doubt. Definitely a disappointment. And I never knew a fellow vegan was among us. We'll have to grab a seitan sandwich and a pint one day. seitan is a gift from the gods of food.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) Troops out of Iraq and into Afghanistan. And he's going to ask America's Allies (Australia definitely) for a troop increase in Afghanistan also. Obama needs to change the way about fighting the Afghanistan war. We need to do something different otherwise we will end up just like the USSR. I also think that one thing that will change is that he will run an open goverment. Bush has closed off goverment and I think Obama will open it back up.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) As the resident vegan of Soxtalk I am ecstatic to see Prop 2 pass in California (Voters in California approved an historic ballot measure to halt the inhumane confinement of animals on factory farms by an overwhelming margin) and Question 3 pass in Massachusetts (banning Greyhound racing). As a Vegan myself I was pleased to see this. I'd like to see more things like this. Not so pleased with the prop 8 results though. We still have a ways to go.

i'd say he was a average RF with a plus arm.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Just got the election night ticket in my email. This is happening to everyone but me. I still have hope. I still believe in change. Change in my email inbox.

I'm a combo of excited and nervous. I'm not sure what to call it. Maybe Excitvous.

QUOTE (heirdog @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) Ummm...its the first week in November and outside of the all-star break, these guys don't get a vacation (yes, I know they get an off-season but according to you they should be punching the clock year round). These guys do go out during the season too so what's to say, BA didn't spend 15 hours in the cage or batting against some Brad Penny fastballs before hitting the town. Besides, it actually looked like BA was calm and defusing the situation before it escalated...spouting off about some 95 or 96 Mercedes...are those vintage or something? I was just joking. I'm sure the Sox know if he is a hard worker or a guy who would rather hit the town.

Good to see that he is working hard in the off-season.

I didn't know the panthers were still around. Maybe these are same guys who carved the "B" into that girls face. -
I'm gonna be going down to the rally even though as of right now I don't have a ticket. I know its going to be real crowded, but I think it's going to be exciting. I think we will be looking at 500,000 plus tonight.

What do you think the odds are that the waitlist fills for my Obama tickets today?

I voted for Obama. This is the first time i've voted dem. The old folks at the polling place were nice and hopped up on way too much coffee.

I like that Map John King plays around with. Where he can zoom in and out. I would like to have one of those at home on election night. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) So, Obama is running his 30 minute ad tonight, right? I looked on 5 different f***ing "news" websites that had articles about the ad, and NOT ONE said what time or day the speech airs. How idiotic is that? Pet peeve - I see news articles do this all the time. They talk for many paragraphs about some upcoming event, and then never put in the time and date. What happened to who/what/where/when/why? I'll be out tonight, I wish I had set the DVR to record it. I think it could be an interesting watch. Hopefully it will be available afterwards, somewhere. I would bet tomorrow its on www.democraticunderground.com

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) I figured this would happen. Some guy was offering his "guest" to a fine lady. He would also buy dinner.
