Report: Brett Favre to retire
GoSox05 replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) Any word if Brett has stopped crying yet? Showing some emotion was fine and it was part of what made him so great. However, he was acting like a jr high girl who did not get tickets to the Hannah Montana concert coming up the next weekend. His wife needed to slap him. Yeah what a pussy. He acts like he started 273 games in a row. He's not a real man. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) And those are some of the complications - organizations that get help from religious organizations, but whose motivations are nationalistic or the like. This East Turkmen group is along those lines. I think alot of these are also separatist movements. The IRA is mostly catholic, but their main objective is to be separate from England. Same thing with ETA in Spain.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) I'm sure you would. And because you have a lone 'Christian' nutbag cause this disturbance, it somehow cancels all the disruptions caused by people identifying themselves with other religions? How many acts of terrorism have been carried out in the name of Christ in the last 50 years? Compare that to the amount done in the name of Allah. The Christian attacks are probably even outnumbered by the enviro-wackos like ELF. They are not on the same playing field, so to mention him as any kind of comparrison to Islamist terrorists is absurd. That being said, I am concerned about how the article mentioned China's real lack of anti-terrorism abilities. All we need are Islamist terrorists taking the Israeli athletes (or Americans) hostage or blowing up their dorm building or something. The world as a whole doesn't need the kind of instability that would cause. Gas would triple, people would panic and stocks would tumble, and it would not be a good thing. There's been plenty accounts of Christian terrorism in the United States and in other parts of the world in the last 50 years or so. The KKK, Aryan Nations, Oklahoma City bombing, Lambs of Christ, White Eagles in Serbia called for a "Christian, Orthodox Serbia with no Muslims and no unbelievers". Tripura Baptist Christian Union in India has been accoused of funding terrorism. Northern Ireland's war. On both sides really. and the Lord's Resistance Army. Which have been accused of many acts of mutilation, torture, rape, abduction, the use of child soldiers and a number of massacres.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) I guess with that Argument, Brian Griese is a better Qb than Ben Roethlisberger ,Carson Palmer and Tony Romo. Career TDs Griese 114 Palmer 104 Roethlisberger 84 Romo 55 It's only a matter of time before Manning and Brady surpass Favre in every category but Ints. Its not about more. Its about the most. He has the most. Number 1. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) I'm going by what the NFL uses to Judge Pro Bowlers, MVPs and Hall of Famers. We are not arguing who is the best 'Grinder', that is a winless arguement. If you won't go by statistical Categories and Wins, then I could argue the Rex Grossman is a better qb than Favre, now couldn't I ? If you want to go by the stats. Than Favre is the best QB ever. He has the most wins, the most td's, the most completions. Everything, he has the most everything. Oh and he won three MVP's. So I guess he is the best. -
What the f*** is wrong with people. I just don't understand.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) And what would you go by? I don't know. Let me say I think trying to figure out who's the best QB or anyone position is dumb. It's a winless argument. All I know is I watched almost every game Brett Favre played and he was one hell of a QB and he was fun as hell to watch. That's how I judge him. Not his QB int rate per year. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) Silly Argument. But, I'll go for the Bait. Let's say 2 Ints per year are not his fault. But, then you can make the same arguement for Manning and Brady. Avg Ints Per year Brady 12.2 Manning 15.3 Favre 18 (adjusted Avg Ints Per Year) Avg Ints Per year Brady 10.2 Manning 13.3 Favre 16 I really don't know what point you are trying to make. Enlighten me, please! Stats aren't everything. To say someone is the best QB of their time by comparing int rates per year is looking at thing one sided. -
USA USA USA!! Freedom fries!

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) Avg Ints Per year Brady 12.2 Manning 15.3 Favre 18 So you can say for fact that every int ever thrown by Brett Favre was his fault? -
This is good news.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) he might not even be in the top 10 in no particular order...brady manning bradshaw marino elway montana unitas staubach are/were all better imo Did you spend a lot of time watching game film on Unitas and Staubach? -
Mac sure has been good this spring training. Almost as good as he was all of last season.
-
The Sox pitchers are having to get about 5 outs a inning.
-
QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) TX appears to have scored 4 runs against Lowry and SF in the first inning. All with no hits? Seems fishy. It says Lowry walked 7. Thats not good.
-
Macdougal gives up three runs. A three run HR.

Bottom third Sox up 2-0
