  1. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) Rodgers is 20 years old and had 31 doubles and 19 home runs. He is by all accounts an elite, elite prospect and would look very nice at 3B in the future for us. You didn't get 4 or 5 Moncadas for Sale, did you? Why would you get 4 or 5 Rodgers for Q? Rodgers is a top 10 prospect in all of baseball. Rodgers + 2 or 3 guys gets it done. Moncada is much further along than Rodgers. Further, I was saying 4 or 5 of his caliber "or thereabouts". I'm not talking about his draft pedigree there, I'm talking about 4 or 5 players in that A/AA range that have high ceilings.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) Right, I hope so. I liked 14 draft too though. 14 is producing well so far. Outside of the obvious (Rodon), you have Adams, Lechich, Peter, Clark, and Robbins all doing well. Two or three of those pieces might even end up ML contributors.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) For all the talk aobut how the white sox current team was great at pitching, it really was paper thin. Our minors could not find us a competent 4 or 5, and was not even filling warm bodies into our bullpen (they were COLD bodies). We needed depth all over. I had completely become empty with this org. no money to substantially improve. Now I can see how we can improve, and we will once again have the money to make the jump in the next one. Honestly, for as crappy as we have been last few years, you learn how much drafts can be. Had we selected Corey Seager instead of Hawkins in 2012, we would not be selling. We'd have the following: Melky-Anderson-Eaton outfield Frazier-Seager-Saladino-Abreu Chris Carter DH Weiters? C That may be enough to get to playoffs. So we need to freakin hit on EVERYTHING from now on. I liked the 2016 draft, especially from position player standpoint. The Sox targeted baseball players who know how to get on base, and it paid off, as Collins, Call, and Fisher all look to be decent prospects or better, and Schnurbusch might be a welcome out of nowhere surprise. Hopefully this strategy continues in the draft.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) If you get Rodgers/Hoffman, doubt you get much more on tail. Rodgers had an .821 OPS in A ball. I like that he's only 20 and looks ready for AA, but we're talking about Jose Quintana here. You should be getting 4 or 5 players of Rodgers quality or thereabouts for him.
  5. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:12 PM) I would think Rodgers is an untouchable for the Rockies. Why? He's so far away from the bigs. I would want a lot more from Colorado if he's the top guy they offer.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) No, I'd rather them learn their f***ing lesson versus doing the same damn crap that just failed. It isn't about the BA top 25. It is about the entire roster. They are too stupid to learn that lesson apparently. You keep complaining about this, but the bottom line is no championship caliber team has ever been built JUST through a rebuild or JUST by drafting well or JUST by making good trades and getting good value for your players or JUST through free agency. It takes a combination of all of it to get the job done. So they don't get the hitters now? Okay, draft hitters. Buy hitters. When you're done with the rebuild process, take some of the surplus value you've built on your farm and trade for hitters. We know that JR is much more likely to pony up for a hitter than a pitcher, and you laughed earlier when I said get Harper and Machado, but he signed Belle to the biggest contract at the time and he tried to sign ARod to the biggest contract at that time. It just doesn't make sense that you're so dead set on getting hitters rather than seeing that the Sox are actually doing it the right way for once. They're rebuilding, they need to get the most value they can, position be damned. They got 2 guys who could be TOR starters for Eaton, and all of MLB thinks Rizzo got fleeced. I even understand your position to an extent, the Sox don't have the best track record developing position players (though Semien and Anderson recently provide good counterexamples to that), but value is more important right now. There was no way the Sox would've gotten better value for Eaton than what the Nats gave up. I think you're rushing to judgement here instead of giving the whole thing time to play out.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) I think the Sale deal is done very soon. Like by midnight soon. You're a bit late.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Wait, what? I think he wants Torres and Torrens.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Or else they really have doomed themselves to another decade of failure. So what if they trade Q for a package similar to the Sale package (maybe a couple more hitters since no one else has a Moncada) that has pitching as part of the value in the deal as well, then they draft well the next 2 years, then, just as this crop of players is coming up, they sign Harper and Machado? Still screwed?
  10. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) I can see the Astros and Rox being in play for Quintana or a mega Quintana and Abreu package both have the farms and needs. If the Astros want Q and Abreu, they'd better be prepared to give up Bregman++++.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) The potential surplus we got out of Eaton is probably just as high. Much higher, unless Moncada becomes Trout 2.0 and Kopech becomes Syndergaard 2.0. The Sox may have gotten 2 TOR starters for Eaton, and Dunning is a very nice lottery ticket.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Tomorrow (Thursday) at 8am CT is the Rule 5 draft. Given the White Sox are rebuilding, it's possible they could use one of the two current open roster slots for a pick. They also have a couple guys at risk of being selected away. Here's a preview of who they might add and who they might lose. They should take Cave and see if they have any luck developing him into a quality regular.
  13. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Pitchers. Great. f*** you, Hahn. The Sox might get 2 TOR starters out of this deal. But, yeah, f*** Hahn.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Giolito, Rodon, Fulmer, Kopech... HOLY s*** Don't forget Hansen if we're talking about Kopech.
  15. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) This... If they come out of this firesale with a ton of arms and then boom/bust lower level hitters - it will be safe to call this a failure. Which was what a lot of people feared allowing this regime to handle a rebuild. Regardless of the pitching talent acquired, you did not do what was desperately needed. If you weren't going to load up on hitters, you should've kept these guys who are under control and just continue to spiral in mediocrity while hoping your drafting gets better. It's almost as if they're oblivious to how bad they are at developing, scouting and drafting hitters. They've gotten better at all of that. It isn't 2013 anymore.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) I just despise that team and it's front office. But if they want to give us prospects fine. We could have theoretically a top 10 farm system after this trade. And that's before trading Q, Abreu, Frazier, Robertson, Jones, Melky, and adding the next 3 draft crops, the next two of which will likely have top 3-5 picks. This farm system is going to be #1 before it's all said and done.
  17. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Servino is a defensive catcher who's bat is way behind developing. I just don't get why we wouldn't insist on position players. I get pitching is king but man we need some hitters to go with these guys. He's 22 and hasn't even played a game in AAA, though he's been in MLB twice and did very well in his most recent cup of coffee there. I think the bat can catch up if you give it time.
  18. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) what about Giolito + Lopez + Severino? That's what I'm hoping for.
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/war/leaders Eaton ranked 15th in baseball in WAR last year according to espn http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0 fangraphs has him ranked 11th in war you guys will have to find the bwar/fwar stuff, can't find it anywhere He was 11th in fWAR, according to what you just posted. If I understand it correctly, fWAR = Fangraphs WAR and bWAR = Baseball Reference WAR.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) How the f*** is Robles not in the deal Because others are and he doesn't really fit the timeline, especially if the Sox trade away all of their assets?
  21. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) No Robles. Ken Rosenthal ‏ Sources: #Nationals close to acquiring Eaton from #WhiteSox. Robles not in deal. Giolito, Lopez, Severino would work.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Rosenthal confirms. It's legit. Is it done? Or did he just confirm they're in "serious talks" or whatever the phrase of the day is?
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) f*** it, I'll throw some s*** out there because I'm bored while waiting for the next trade to drop. How about Q + Jones to Houston for Kyle Tucker, AJ Reed, Joe Musgrove and Francis Martes? I like that package for just Q. Adding Jones should bring about 3 more names, at least 2 of which are high quality.
  24. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Source: White Sox working on a deal to send Adam Eaton to the Nationals. Giolito, Robles, and Severino ought to do it.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah, I actually feel good about him. It's Moncada...after reading 9 pages of SoSH I am now convinced he is the next Andy Marte. Boston fans are notorious for this. Their player is the greatest thing since sliced bread...until your team acquires him, at which point he was obviously a worthless bum and couldn't possibly be worth what they got in return. Believe it or not, they're actually worse about this in football. All that said to say that I'll trust the scouting community at large, who seems to think Moncada is the best young talent they've seen in a long time.
