  1. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Fine. If the Tigers sweep the Cubs, don't complain if we finish w/in 3 games of the Tigers at the end of the regular season. That's what you'd have wanted.
  2. The AL is already the far superior league talent wise, and now you want to make things HARDER on the NL in interleague play?! By the way, I'm in favor of DH throughout baseball.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) 32-11 You know, as annoyed that we are that Detroit keeps winning, they absolutely cannot shake the Sox. Now we simply play the waiting game. What are we waiting for? A. Their pitching to fall apart (Not very often do 5 starters and most of a bullpen all have great seasons, plus rookies in Verlander and Zumaya are bound to hit a wall). B. 10 head to head games in July and August. Either way, it won't be much longer.
  4. Brian won't win the Gold Glove. He's the best defender, but it seems like those awards are all about flashy highlight plays and offense. Brain makes a few highlight plays, but his bat isn't good enough to win it. I know that shouldn't be the case, but it is.
  5. I want J. Weaver...just not that one.
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) A sweep would be really nice going into a tough series at St. Louis. I suppose the Tigers get the Royals during that series?
  7. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) .........If JG decides he wants to show up! Herein lies the problem. Garland in a HR friendly park. Even if he does show up, he could (and probably will) easily give up 5 runs.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Does it seem to anyone else that DJ is just flat out smarter than Hawk? I just get that feeling. I get that impression too.
  9. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) 1. Hawk goes over the meaning of Heineybird, direct result of latest s*** piece by marriot. "A hineybird is a bird that flies around in perfectly executed concentric circles until finally it flies up its own behind, and *POOF*, disappears forever." The funniest part of that was when DJ immediately afterward said "That's kind of like a Phoenix. Wait, no. No it's not." So off-base on that one.
  10. Also, facing flyball Milton in a HR friendly park.
  11. Count going for 16 straight. DO IT!
  12. So how many people are with me tommorrow in rooting for Wrigley to fall off the face of the Earth during the game?
  13. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) let it go. Well put.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) David Riske will never give up a hit, recognize fools. Exactly. How could the Red Sox have been so foolish as to trade a reliever that doesn't give up hits?
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) One of them, yea, but Freddy just hasn't looked good in his last few starts. He's not hitting his spots, and if he's going to throw in the mid-upper 80's, he has to pitch with control. Where are all the "Comcast's gun sucks" people on this? Well, I'll say it: Comcast's gun sucks! They've been off all year by 3-5 MPH. Was I the only one to notice that Freddy was suddenly "back up" to the 92-94 range when he pitched on ESPN?
  16. Isn't GAB one of the most HR friendly parks in MLB?
  17. Why not root for 3 problems to go away? Go Wrigley falling off the face of the earth during the game!
  18. I really like this deal. It's a very low risk/high reward move.
  19. Well, that just completely ruins his trade value. What was I thinking wanting a reliever who is human?
  20. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) He would satisfy my request for a dominant bullpen arm. Is he really available though? Looking at his stats, it appears SD owns his rights for the next 3 years. He's young, cheap and good. Why would SD want to trade him away? To get their hands on Fields, thereby filling their biggest organizational hole.
  21. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) I prefer avoiding the mediocre route because I don't see the value in them. What we need is a Dustin Hermanson or Cliff Politte of 2005. That type of pitcher can improve our bullpen, make us tougher in the playoffs and might even be the difference in repeating or not. THINK DOMINANCE. Dominance in reliever form: At least he'll probably be the best available.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) San Diego could be a team that would love to have Josh Fields at 3rd base. Problem is, their 1st round choice in this year's draft, Matt Antonelli is also a 3rd baseman, and could be ready in a season or 2. That's why I was thinking Linebrink, but if that guy is as good as they hope he is, they might just want a stopgap. Here's hoping he falls flat on his face so they'll want Fields even more. According to Padre fans I've talked to, they're scouring AAA trying to find 3Bs though. I'd have to think that option 1 or 1a would be Fields considering his age and the fact that he's hitting the cover off the ball in Charlotte. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) But I've long thought, if you wanted a mega trade package, if you offered Garland and Fields for say Linebrink, Cassidy and 2 real good prospects ............. I like the way you think. Maybe we could get Carillo in that package? I know a lot of people around here like him.
  23. I think I'm going to give up on the idea of acquiring this guy: I still think he'd look GREAT in a Sox uni though.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Curious, but aside from the fact he's a Twin, why don't you like him? I never really hear much about him. That's the only reason. For that, I despise him though.
