  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) When you're down 2 with 3 seconds left in the 4th quarter while you're on the 27 yardline? I don't think so. At that point, it's Vandershank for the loss.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Fixed that for you. You forgot Freddy Garcia.
  3. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) It's possible the Colts and Patriots are just switching kickers. I believe I heard something about the Patriots being interested in Vanderjagt. That would be hilarious, because you know that somewhere along the line, Vanderjagt would cost them an important game. It's a question of when, not if.
  4. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) Well I have the Falcons, and they just traded the 15th overall pick to Denver in the Abraham trade. But you didn't, meaning you're up if picks 1-14 have been made.
  5. 173-0. The Indians provide a September scare, not losing ground for the entire month, thus launching Soxtalk into panic mode (yes, the choke avatars will be seen again), but giving the Sox the momentum they need to go 11-0 in the postseason. Okay, back to reality. I think the Sox will win 90-100 games and the Central division. The 5 starters will all win at least 14 games. The bullpen will be shakier than last year, but will still shut teams down when it counts. The addition of Thome will provide a spark to the Sox offense, moving it from bottom of the league in production to the middle or maybe even near the top of the league in production. I might post some predicted statlines later.
  6. Finally a kicker who can hit a FG in the clutch. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out Mike. For those of you who don't know, Vanderjagt is a UFA.
  7. I wonder if they're trying to become a running offense. I think they should try to make a move for Cutler if he's there at 8 or so. They're going to need a franchise QB in the near future.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) 2004 -- 30BB 65.1IP 2005 -- 29BB 60.1IP His BB/IP actually went up. Get that bum Cotts out of the pen!
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) This draft thing is already f***ed. New Orleans won't select Leinhart with their pick. They will either trade down or select Mario Williams because they signed Drew Brees. This affects at least 2 picks here. START OVER!!!!! Or we could just keep it the way it is and know that this started before the Saints signed Brees.
  10. Why can't I access my User CP right now? EDIT: Fixed now. Thanks.
  11. Anyone want to trade up? Jay Cutler is available.
  12. So we're not doing the 24 hour time limit thing?
  13. Browns | Team signs every free agent Sat, 11 Mar 2006 14:03:14 -0800 According to Chris Mortenson of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns have successfully signed every unrestricted free agent in just over 24 hours since the start of free agency, 12:00 noon Friday. Browns General Manager Phil Savage has also managed to successfully have sexual intercourse with every eligible bacherlorette in that same time frame, much to the dismay of every other NFL general manager and Hugh Hefner. According to Mortenson, the Browns are now expected to challenge the Klingons for interstellar domination.
  14. I agree. Also, I think a time limit needs to be set. I think 24 hours per pick would be fair, and it'd guarantee we get at least the first round done before the real draft.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) On the other hand, the Sox also had plenty of things go very wrong last season. Scott Podsednik couldn't steal for the last 2 months, and spent a month barely able to play. Crede broke his hand. Jermaine Dye was attacked by a spider. A bunch of our guys continued to hit at levels well under where they should be and even well under their career averages (AJ, Rowand, Crede, Uribe, Everett) One of our pitchers had his arm fall completely off. Our best hitter managed to have only about 90 at bats. Timo Perez got 180 at bats. Our closer to start the year got shellacked Our 2nd closer blew out his back A lot of those things will change as well. So don't just say "Oh we got lucky last year". Yes, we got lucky when Mark Buehlre's foot wasn't really hurt, but there was also a sh*tload of talent on that team, with a lot of ability to overcome adversity. Sabermetricians will always say teams built around pitching and defense are "lucky". It's a fact of life set up by the way they try to predict win totals. They use a formula centered around runs scored and allowed, and teams built around good pitching and defense will usually win by less than most teams, thus "outperforming" the number of wins a sabermetrician would "expect". Don't confuse me for a sabermetrics hater, because I find quite a lot of it useful, however, I think that win totals can't be accurately projected by any formula.
  16. Does anyone else think the chorus to System of a Down's "Revenga" would be perfect for the night after a loss? On my sweet revenge Will be yours, for the taking It's in the making baby, aaaaahhh My sweet revenge Will be yours, for the taking It's in the making baby, aaaaahhh
  17. Whoever said "Seven Nation Army" hit the nail on the head. There's just something about that first part that fits perfectly.
  18. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) I am getting a bit worried that the Sox are trying to be characters like the 1985 Bears, who never won again after the Superbowl year. How much will that belt mean when we are in the midst of a 7-game losing streak? It's all in fun. Don't get so serious about it. I would think during a 7 game losing streak they wouldn't give it out.
  19. So the one on the right is Borchard?
  20. How long are teams allowed to be "on the clock"?
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) He hasnt pitched a full year yet dude. Why the man-crush on felix? It has nothing to do with a "man-crush". His stuff is pure filth, he's 19 (soon to be 20) years old, and he has never struggled at any level, including times when he's come off of injuries. The fact that he's going to be 20 this season means that if he's as good as he's displayed throughout his entire career (and there's absolutely no reason to expect otherwise, considering his talent and performance record), you're going to get an ace caliber pitcher for 15-20 years barring injury, which is much better than a #3 hitter for 10-15 years IMO.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) I see the well made points about the Tigers that the Sox were finished to pick 4th last year. But the Tigers dont' have NEARLY the pitching we do. The Tigers have no shot of finishing ahead of us or Cleveland, and I think the Minnesota pitching will be too much for them to not finish ahead of Detroit. They have Bonderman, Verlander, and Rogers. That's a lot of what they're season is riding on. The rest would be the health of Ordonez and Guillen.
