Indianapolis Colts 1-30 LB Ernie Sims, Florida State 2-62 S Greg Blue, Georgia 3-94 RB Brian Calhoun, Wisconsin I would've pick Mo Drew or Joseph Addai in round 2, but they were ranked too high.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Tambi Hall over Mario Williams? Laurence Maroney and LenDale White ahead of DeAngelo Williams?
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) #3 behind Huff. Jimmy Williams not ranked. Actually, Charles Gordon is #3, but how do you not have Jimmy Williams ranked at CB or S? He's a lock as a 1st round pick.

Well, I would love to see Greenway fall to the Colts. I doubt he will though. By the way, where is Antonio Cromartie in your CB rankings?
-
Those RB and OLB rankings are crazy (Give me Chad Greenway ahead of most every OLB but Hawk and how do you have Reggie at #2 among RBs). Surprised at Hali ahead of Super Mario as well.

It's hard to expect much more from a team than a .667 win%, so I voted 16-17.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 02:57 AM) As I've said before, it's a Sox town where it counts. Think Cubs fan wouldn't trade being more popular for a World Series title? Not to mention a legitimate chance to do it again? The ones who are fans of the team would. The ones who are fans of the stadium and atmosphere wouldn't.

The Phillies could send Ryan Madson and Ryan Howard

I could take a 2nd team if need be. Obviously trading would not be allowed between the 2 teams.

Top Prospects at the TE position

Davis to WR is just an interesting thought I had that I figured would make for good discussion. Oh well, not everything works out as you'd like. I still say he'd be an awesome WR. -
"Vince Young will be a 2nd day pick"

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah, on that "Friday Football" garbage on ESPNEWS (which I was only watching because I was at home sick as a dog), Merril Hoge said "once people see the tape on Vince Young, he will fall and fall fast.....and come April, be a 4th round, 2nd day pick". Afterwards, he had a 10 minute discussion on it too, so he was obviously serious. Comments? :headshake :rolly Merrill Hodge is an idiot. That is all. -
Top Prospects at the TE position

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) No. Its not f***ing well thought out at all, in fact its so f***ing retarded I'm not even going to talk about it anymore. Guess what? Vernon Davis is a f***ing TE, not a WR. Would you take Vince Young and move him to RB because he comes off to you as a better runner than thower? No. You wouldnt. Now please, shut the flying f*** up. Actually, NFL teams move players to positions that suit them better all the time. Matt Jones was a 1st round pick as a WR last year even though he had played QB his entire collegiate career. Davis played TE his entire collegiate career, but at 6'3", he's a little small for the TE position in the NFL, he doesn't block well, and he has great hands and WR caliber speed. TEs are usually big targets (think as big or bigger than the QB) that can catch the ball well but can also pass and run block. I never said Davis couldn't be a good TE, nor did I say that he can't play TE at the NFL level. I just think that his skill set would translate better to the NFL as a WR. As a TE, he'd probably be similar to Antonio Gates (primarily used for receiving) or Dallas Clark (primarily used for receiving and sometimes lines up at the 3rd WR position). As for your Young comparison, no I wouldn't move Young to RB, because I feel he will do better as a QB. I would, however, move Vick to RB, because his height isn't ideal for the QB position, his accuracy sucks, as does his decision making, and he has ideal size and speed to play RB (think Reggie Bush). -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Any specific reason why? The Colts have been interested in Maroney for awhile, and Maroney would be a great fit for their system. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) no offense but addai is in my opinion the opposite of edge. Edge is a bruising back who wears down defenses. He lacks the speed to make huge plays, but gets abotu 4-5 yards on every play and carries the pile. Addai is a quick slasher with big play ability but is only like 5-10 or something. he will be an outside runner IMO, where as edge is mroe of a between the tackles guy (even though the colts like to attack the outside corner of those tackles). To answer both of your questions, Addai is a far better fit for the Colts' system. The reason he's an Edge clone is because they're both APBs (that's All-Purpose Backs). They both excel at catching the ball out of the backfield and pass blocking as well as running the ball. I will agree with one point daa made. The current Edgerrin James is more of a power type runner due to his ACL injury. In this respect, you would be correct to say that Edgerrin James and Joseph Addai are different types of backs, however, before Edge's injury, he was the type of runner Addai is now. So, if the Colts were to draft Addai, they would basically be getting the Edge of 1999 and 2000, a RB who won Rookie of the Year honors in 1999 and back to back rushing titles in 99 and 2000. As for why the Colts would want Addai instead of Maroney, Addai is better at blocking and catching, plus he's less likely to be a system RB (considering Maroney played in a system conducive to RB success and played with 2 OL who will probably be starting in the NFL next year, the likelihood that's his success was due to the system and talent surrounding him is much greater than that of the average RB).

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Why is it that a lot of people on this board say the White Sox can't afford to let Contreras go for nothing? You get his services in 2006. The other thread had post after post calling Frank Thomas the greatest player in team history. He was let go for nothing, how come it wasn't necessary to trade him last offseason? Because his value was extremely low. At that point, it was better to take the gamble that he'd be productive than to trade him for basically nothing.

Top Prospects at the TE position

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Why, when Vernon Davis had been as good as you could be as a TE in college, would you arbitrarily move him to WR because he is 6'6 (unoff.)? Leonard Pope is like 6'9 285, why dont you want him at WR? He'd be a CBs worst nightmare with that size according to you. Reason? BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER AT TE. Why am I even arguing this, its so retarded I cant find something of substance to respond w/ b/c its so f***ing random and out-there. It's not random. It's actually pretty well thought out. Davis is not a good blocker, but he has great hands, a big body for a WR (compared to average size at TE), can go over the middle to get a ball, and has 4.4 speed. Pope on the other hand can block well, and doesn't have WR speed (low 4.5-high 4.7 range), not to mention he's big even for a TE. That's the difference. Davis will be a great receiving TE, but his blocking is poor at best, making him a liability on run plays. Pope will not be as good of a receiving TE as Davis, but his blocking will be far superior, making him more of an every down player. If Davis is going to be a liability on run plays, he may as well move to WR where he won't have to block and can still use his receiving skills. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) B/c with taht speed he creates one of the biggest mismatches you can make when playing an LB. And with that size, he'd be a CB's worst nightmare once he caught the ball (which he can do very well), plus he wouldn't have to block. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) One of the nice things about where we're at right now is that we really don't NEED to trade Jose...we have ourselves sitting in a position of luxury. We can just go with 6 starters on the roster and genuinely make a run at a world series...and whether or not you agree with it, the team will be in good shape. In other words...KW can actually sit around waiting to be completely blown away by an offer for the guy, because the need to trade him is not garganutan. I don't think he'd be traded straight up for Milledge just for that reason. You want him, you've got to earn him. That was basically my point. There's no need to trade Jose, and his value is very high at the moment (More than a 21 YO prospect who has the potential to be great but hasn't done anything beyond AA IMO).

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Vernon Davis is NOT a WR. He's a TE, and the top one in this class. Pope would great for the Bears, I dont know if its really possible to overthrow him... Why is he NOT a WR? Bad route running? He has the speed and hands for it. I think any team that picks Davis as a TE is going to have to have another TE for blocking or run a lot of 2 TE sets and run to the opposite side of the field. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) I'm as big a Lenoard Pope fan as the next guy, but, Vernon Davis is simply the best pro prospect at his position. He's as close to a consensus #1 as there is. A case can be made for Pope, but, if he's the second TE to go, he'll have nothing to hang his head about. He would be devestating in a Bears uniform. I agree with all of the above. I just don't like Vernon Davis as a TE. He runs close to a 4.4, and I'm pretty sure his blocking is crap (for a TE), which is why I think he would make a really good WR. -
Maroney? Keep dreaming Mel. Addai would be the Colts' RB (Edge clone IMO) IF they drafted a RB that early (I think Addai will be there in round 2 and one of Sims or Howard will be there at 30).

I've been saying for months the Bears should draft Leonard Pope. He's the best overall TE in the draft IMO. -
Texans or Saints. I like a challenge. Plus the Colts are already taken (you'll hear about it if you screw up Heads )

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) How much power do you really need from CF? Milledge probably has just as much power as Brian Anderson but he does everything else better as well. If I'm trading an ace caliber starter (which Contreras has proven he is) for ONE hitting prospect, that prospect better be a future #3 hitter. Lastings Milledge projects more as a #2 or leadoff hitter at this point. If the Sox were to trade Contreras to the Mets, I'd be really upset if Milledge was the only player they got in return. If the Mets won't give up more, they can keep their potential future superstar who has just as much (if not more) potential to be a bust.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Milledge DOES hit for power. He had a .487 SLG last season in AA and owns a .485 career SLG in the minors. The reason he is such a highly touted prospect is because he has 5 tool potential. Milledge can hit for AVG and get on base, hit for power, has a lot of speed, plays great defense in CF, and has a strong throwing arm. I'd take him over Brian Anderson in a second. That .487 SLG% isn't all that great when you consider his .337 BA. I'd like a little better than a .150 iso out of a power hitter.

Sleeper: Mariners. Two word reason why they have a chance: Felix Hernandez. Bust: Blue Jays. All that spending for nothing as they'll finish 3rd or 4th in the AL East again
