Just curious, why does everyone here love Lastings Milledge so much? He Ks way too much, doesn't walk very much, and doesn't hit for power. He hardly looks like a player I'd want to trade an ace caliber starter away for.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) THIS IS FROM MLBTRADERUMORS.COM I wouldn't put too much stock into what they say.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:58 AM) hmmm, I remember the 2K football series as a not so good franchise. I hope this has changed. Unfortunately for all of us, I doubt your hopes will be realized.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) I just got MVP 2005 for 20 bucks at Walmart. I love this game, Im pumped to see the next version. LOL, Wilson Valdez has hit 2 walkoff homeruns for me, and Carl Everett is complaining about PT 3 weeks into the season. The next version is College baseball because the 2K franchise purchased the exclusive MLB licensing rights.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) yes...........jennks cotts politte hermanson = back end of the bullpen That's confusing to me, because when I think "front" of the pen, I think of the guys I want out there in the 8th or 9th.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 07:37 AM) I still think Anrie Munoz is the favorite. The front of our bullpen is looking very weak. We certainly don't have the depth like last year, but oh well. we can't be perfect. The front is weak? Does "front" in this case mean 6th/7th inning guys? Because we still have, Jenks, Cotts, Politte, and (if healthy) Hermanson.

Is Matt Laporta (Florida 1B) the best player in the game? He should be.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Unless people want 30 pages dedicated to the top 10 reasons why Bobby Abreu outranks Jermaine Dye defensively. Only if the 30 pages are all the 10 reasons posted by one person.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) no wonder pods had those groin problems.

I have everything in the set.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Didn't Frank do it like last year? I don't know, but I find it highly unlikely that Uribe of all people would be someone to see a lot of pitches and foul nine consecutive pitches off.
-
Has anyone ever fouled off NINE consecutive pitches before? I just found that tidbit hilarious:

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) lol what an idiot. Of course success is still about winning. If you lose every game, people will eventually stop coming and business will slow. You do know we're talking about fans of a ballpark (not a team) who just go to get drunk off their ass and really don't care about the product on the field, right?

Wow, that spread for the Colts game is pretty big. Then again, I thought the spread for the Jags-Pats game was too big. -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) I'm not even a Shaun Alexander fan. I don't go out of my way to catch Seattle games. I HAVE ZERO BIAS. I'm trying to call it like I see it. It's clear that Dam8610 is bitter that it didn't go to some Colts player. He might not admit to it, but we all know that it's true. I'd have had absolutely no problem with any one of these players winning the MVP: Carson Palmer Peyton Manning Tom Brady Shaun Alexander Tiki Barber Larry Johnson (despite the missed games) Edgerrin James Steve Smith You wouldn't see me arguing against any of them because I don't have the nerve or bias to do so. You'd see me defending them, kind of like what I'm doing with Alexander right now. And it's starting to get old, too. Let's say that Dam8610 was a Seahawks fan, and Edgerrin James won the MVP. He'd be calling it an absolute travesty. Am I wrong? No. Honestly, I wouldn't have been as upset with it had any of the aforementioned players other than Alexander had won the award. I just don't see him as the Most Valuable Player in the league, as all he did was run the ball behind a great offensive line. Plug just about any NFL RB in that spot and they're probably going for 1200-1300 yards and 12-15 TDs at least, especially with their schedule. If he was even an all purpose back I wouldn't have a problem with it, but he does nothing but run the ball against bad teams behind future hall of famers, and that earns a MVP award? I don't think such a season is worthy of a MVP award, regardless of what record he broke.

Rotoworld's A.L. Rookies to Watch: Brian Anderson
Dam8610 replied to SSH2005's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) You think if Brian Anderson could hit .270 in 2006 we would be rejoicing right now? If he does what the author of that article says he should be able to do, he'll have replaced Rowand's production from 2005 and even exceeded it slightly. If he can provide the type of defense I've heard he can, I'd be really happy with that. -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Alexander gets stuffed less than any other RB in this league in goal line situations. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) I don't think so, and the first name that comes to mind that disagrees with that is The Bus. You're both wrong. Edgerrin James and Larry Johnson get stuffed the least. I can provide proof of this if you'd like.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Yea, Jim Hendry is like the parent that buys his wild son an overpriced muscle car for his birthday only to see him crash it while the more efficient Honda sits in the garage. Fill in Hendry, Jaque Jones, Marquiss Grissom, and Dusty anywhere you want in the analogy. I suggest Hendry as parent, Dusty as son, and Jones and Grissom as the muscle car. I was going to suggest a cheap yet good youngster in the Cubs outfield for the Honda, but couldn't find one. I think Matt Murton is your Honda.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Bears 2 Colts 0 I'll take that. Just tell me when the Bears inept offense gets off the field so I can watch Manning and the Colts offense make it 7-2.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) Some vindication after the MVP snub. Why isn't this in green? You can't seriously think he desrved to win MVP. He didn't have anything close to the type of numbers a defensive player has to put up to win the award (see: Lawrence Taylor's 1986 season).
