  1. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) they were talking about how steinbrenner is complaining about the alcs not being pushed back and wilbon stated that if the situation were reversed noone would care because it was the white sox and not the yankees or red sox it was happening too Wilbon just hates the Yankees and Red Sox, which makes him better than most of ESPN.
  2. Take nothing for granted. One pitcher does not an ALCS team make, so there are more reasons than Fatolo the Colon that the Angels are here. That said, I'd much rather face the Angels minus Colon than the Angels with Colon.

    wierd

    QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) the media are inventing it as we speak. Apparently, we have "The Curse of Shoeless Joe and the Black Sox". Or should I say we're having it forced down our throats by the media. :puke
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Oh, and I'm never going to tip against New England again after they've lost a game, no matter who they're playing. That wouldn't be smart, considering they barely beat the Vickless Falcons.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) 8-20 with 53 yards and 4 INT's thru 3 quarters. Man, this makes Orton seem like a pro-bowler. Alex Smith was the Colts' MVP today.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Thought I'd bump this, kind of scary how right on the money this thread was. Yeah it is. Right down to the squeeze. Eerie to say the least.
  7. That is the attitude you want your team to have.
  8. Garland HAS to start game 1, due to the fact that he got 0 work in the ALDS, so I'd love to see the following rotation: 1) Garland 2) Buehrle 3) Contreras 4) Garcia 5*) Garland 6*) Buehrle 7*) Contreras * if neccessary This sets things up perfectly, as Buehrle is a better home pitcher, Contreras will dominate anywhere the way he's been pitching, and Garcia is a road ace. This also gives our hottest pitcher the ball in the case that Game 7 is needed to decide the series.
  9. I hope Marte lost his roster spot when he nearly walked home the winning run in the 6th. Out with Marte, in with BMac IMO.
  10. Could you put a link to the page for these from now on? I like looking at these maps, but I also like seeing the percentages for each state, which the images alone do not allow.
  11. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) 26 points allowed through 4 games is just absurd. Not even allowing a touchdown a game, thats scary. I know its all because of the two Tar Heels on the D. I'd say it has more to do with the Orangeman QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) 7 of those points was a freebie touchdown at the end of the Ravens game, when subs were in. The only other TD was in junk time against the Titans where they were driving like it was a 2 minute drill to win the Super Bowl (except they actually scored this time), and the Colts may or my not have had their starting defense on the field, but didn't play like it mattered, because they knew it didn't.
  12. Steelers fans are homers? Who would've thought? (with the exception of Palehosefan and another Steelers fan I know)
  13. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) Something tells me Schilling will go, that also keeps Varitek in the lineup If Schilling goes... Schilling going + Road game + Potential series clinching game = One jacked up Freddy The last time Freddy was in a matchup like that was against Johan Santana in Minnesota. He pitched a one hitter that he should've won that day. The last time he was in a big game situation was in Detroit about a week ago. He won that day. I can't wait for this game!
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) Favre doesn't seem like he is done yet Unfortunately for him, his team was done before he started.
  15. Well, judging by what I've seen thus far, Marlin Jackson is going to be one of the better CBs in the league for a LONG time to come, and he hits like a MACK truck. After that, a LOT of question marks: -Will Kelvin Hayden develop into the player he has the potential to be? If so, he'll be a steal rather than the reach he was made out to be. -What will become of Vincent "Sweet Pea" Burns? He's obviously too light to play DT, and he doesn't have the skill set to play DE in this system. A situational pass rusher is a bad choice in the 3rd round of the draft. -How soon will Dylan Gandy be ready? I think this guy will be a good one, as the Colts felt he was worthy of a 4th round selection, and they have had nothing but success with developing and replacing good guards. As of now, Ryan Lilja appears to be a weak link, and the sooner Gandy gets in, the better. -What will Jonathan Welsh's role be? I think he would make a great MLB, but the Colts brought him in to play his natural position of DE. Is this in possible anticipation of the departure of Robert Mathis in free agency? -Will Tyjuan Hagler stay healthy, and if he does, what type of player will he be? I've heard nothing but good things about this guy, and he seems like a perfect fit for the Colts' system, but there's some reason he was a 5th rounder. If it was lack of size, then the rest of the NFL made a BIG mistake giving Dungy another good LB, and at the position where one is most sorely needed. This, of course, is all pending his return from a sports hernia suffered in training camp (he should return in October/November). -Can Dave Rayner take the place of the most accurate kicker in NFL history? It's obvious the Colts want rid of Vanderjagt after the season, or simply don't have him in their cap plans for the future. Either way, they feel Rayner is their man for the future, as he already has kickoff duties, and attempted about half of the field goals the team tried in preseason.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) #35 Awesome! I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I think both he and McCarthy deserve a full share.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...rs.jsp?c_id=cws ESPN sucks. Thanks and good point.
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Because Garcia is starting game 3? Unless I read wrong or ESPN's "crack staff" got it wrong, Garland is slated to start Game 3 against Wakefield. Well if Garcia is starting Game 3, then Ozzie got it right, good for him.
  19. I hope Ozzie reconsiders his rotation. Why wouldn't he have Garcia starting Game 3?
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) MANning w/ 4 TDs in the 31-10 victory over Tennessee. Chargers are walking all over the Pats in NE too. and All is right in the world of this Colts fan...well, all but 2 things: 1) I really hoped the Pats would extend that home winning streak to week 9, so the Colts could take it from them 2) The looming threat of the Bung...err...Bengals. Even though they did nearly lose to the worst team in the NFL (and yes, the Houston Texans are the worst team in the NFL), they caught one of the luckiest breaks I've ever seen in that horrible call where they called an incomplete pass by Carr a fumble, and conveniently ended up in their own territory where they were able to kick what was basically a game clinching field goal. This break reeks of breaks of Patriots teams of recent past.
  21. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) In order for the White Sox to beat the Red Sox in the ALDS, _______ must happen. ________ = Our starters have good outings. If each of them can hold the Red Sox to 3 runs or less, the White Sox have a chance. If not, this might already be over.
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) 15 games down to 1.5 in the space of 6 weeks??! You're gonna have to explain that one. Yeah Cleveland got hot but if we played even decent baseball that lead is still 10. Who cares now. The record is about to go back to 0-0 and they get a chance to show us what they're really made of.. 28-7 in 35 games for the Indians pretty much sums it up.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Distasteful but accurate. They totally pissed away a huge division lead and made it a race when it shouldn't have been. I give em credit for grabbing themselves by the balls and hanging on. Now its time for them to really show us what they're made of. Accurate? How is it accurate to call them chokers when they played slightly subpar baseball for what they played this season, while the Indians had a stretch of .800 baseball over 35 games? That was simply a great hot streak by the Indians during a time when the Sox weren't quite up to the level they played for the rest of the season. It was bound to end eventually, and looks to have come crashing down now.
  24. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 03:25 AM) Like they did when SD traded Vick to ATL for Tomlinson and Brees, on draft day. Actually, the trade was the #1 pick (which turned out to be Vick) for the #5 pick (which became LaDainian Tomlinson) and Tim Dwight. Still the best trade in Charger franchise history. Comparing that trade to the trade suggested by the homer Bears fan is like comparing apples to garbage. That suggestion was pure stupidity and anyone who would give up Tomlinson for Benson and Jones is either insane or knows nothing about the NFL.
