QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Hey f***er, this was my thread last year!! And actaully it didnt work, so now im really scared. It didn't work because Frank and Mags were out...had nothing to do with the thread. By the way, I would've been OUT last year.

The offense returns Sunday. Hopefully, 3 wins will be had between now & then.

Can it be any more obvious that something was wrong with him when he was called up last time?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) He's pitching a shutout through 6 innings tonight -- 3 hit, 8Ks, 1BB -- He sucks Nice. How did you obtain this info?

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) He'll get hammered, just like he did last time. He's not ready. Last time, he was having a problem with tipping his change, which caused him to screw up his mechanics. As evidenced by his stats over his starts since going back down, he's fixed those problems. I'd say call him up and give him another shot if none of the regular starters can start that game. I'd also prefer to see him on the playoff roster over Adkins.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) No dis to the Illini, but they mentioned last year's basketball team and did not mention anything White Sox!!!??? What a joke. :fyou They mentioned the El Train and McDonald's with no mention of the Sox. I find both of those more offensive and upsetting.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Are you talking about ESPN's 50 in 50? I just saw that segment and there was no mention of anything White Sox. Unreal. Correct on all counts.

In his last 3 starts, Brandon is 2-0, and has lowered his ERA by 1/3 of a run, allowing only 13 H, 2 BB, and 5 R, all earned, striking out 15 in his 18 1/3 innings of work. Chris Young has made his way up most lists. I don't know who is higher on BA's list, but I've seen a couple other lists that had Young rated higher.

Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn

I'd like to see the Sox make a run at Chipper Jones or Melvin Mora if either becomes available, and B.J. Ryan or Billy Wagner if either becomes available. That would give the Sox a legit closer, and an offensive upgrade at 3B. -
For you guys that are saying that there was no mention of the White Sox, to be accurate, they made a brief mention of the White Sox having the best record in the AL when they showed the graphic that said how long it had been since each Chicago team other than the Flubs had gone without a playoff series win. I do however agree that they had absolutely nothing in terms of White Sox history or players or tradition in it, and that that is complete bulls***. I think Mac, Jurko, and Harry might hear from a certain Sox fan about it in their Critics at Extra Large segment tommorrow.

I hope Felix Hernandez gets pushed back a day for you.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Great win! Small ball?? hmmm. Well, JD DID get a bunt single.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) An admin should totally rig this poll.... You mean like when Luis Vizcaino had 1000027 (probably not the exact number) votes which was something like 358% of the vote in the poll on who should be sent down to Charlotte?
-
Okay, so the Sox have lost a few games in a row. This has dropped their record to a MISERABLE 74-45 and their divisional lead to a MICROSCOPIC 9.5 games. This, of course, is more than just cause to panic, so I don't blame you for doing so, but I think that as a whole, we should have a little more confidence in a team that until recently owned baseball's best record for about 3 1/2 months straight.
-
He's on our team, so he sucks by default, because the Sox are the worst team in baseball.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) hahahah As you can tell by these splits 454543464646464646 54568989887987977 48752132 412566432598987 the sky is in fact blue. NO f***ING WAY! This changes EVERYTHING! I now see that the sky is in fact blue. How could I have been so blind?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) doesnt he have to go through waivers??? Why would he have to go through waivers? It's not like he's on the 40 man roster or anything.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) It is and it isn't. I'm more concerned about the "old ways" re-emerging without Podsednik. Not much stealing, no hit-and-running, not as much first-inning scoring, huge reliance on the long ball to score. The pitching staff has slumped a bit, which wouldn't be as big a deal if the offense didn't look so helpless most of the time. I'm not AS concerned about the last 5 games as I am about the last 5 weeks or so, when the Sox have looked average at best. And if we Sox fans were "Cub-like", that would mean we wouldn't even DISCUSS wins or losses, just who we talked to on the cellphone, how many chicks we talked to in the bleachers, how LIT UP we got and where we went after the game. I heard a great historical comparison today to a team that won the WS and went through what the White Sox are going through right now. The 1984 Tigers. They didn't have much power, and did a lot with their pitching and defense. They jumped out to a huge early lead and down the stretch, played about .500 baseball. Their best power man was their 1B, who hit about 35 HR. So, just because they're playing poorly now (with a key member of the team on the DL) doesn't mean all is lost.
-
Great read. I have to agree with it, because that's all I've seen. It's ONLY a 5 game losing streak.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) why is it everyone hates pauly so much? he's one of the best offensive 1st basemen in the league... you're all yelling and screaming to aquire another bat. ok fine, we get another bat - then with that added contract let bat X and pauly walk next season? wow so much for an offense at all. .270 with 30 homers and 80 ribbies (rounding) at this point in the season is awesome - wheres the problem? and with that comment of his he was just defending his teamates. i've got tons of respect for pauly and always have. he's the team leader and he's got the offensive numbers to match. without pauly we're just not as good a team. straight up. so lemme hear why y'all wanna dump him. i'm curious. Good question. I don't understand it myself.
