Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.
Dam8610 replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in The Diamond Club
The Cubs only "injury excuse" that might work as of right now would be Prior, but they've been winning a lot since he went on the DL, so there goes that excuse. Nomar has been replaced incredibly by Neifi Perez, and Wood is a 4 starter. That's not bias, that's my highest assessment of any starter that can't win 15 games in a season. Just for fun, anyone know our record during Duque's DL stint? -
Could we get Kyle Davies for Everett?
-
Pods pinch ran for Everett later in the game, stole second, stole third, and we didn't get a run out of it. So, just because Pods is in the game doesn't mean we'll get a run...and do you really want another automatic out in the lineup (Timo or Crede, pick your poison) and worse defense at 1B in a tie game late?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Long Ball Freddy+Coors= what do you think? Road Ace Freddy = 3 runs MAX, don't care where the game is, as long as it's not at Comiskey.
-
Damnit! Not that I thought there was a chnce of that, just that Jake Peavy is an awesome pitcher, and he's only 23. I'd love to see him on the south side, but I know it's not going to happen.
-
Any chance San Diego's GM could go temporarily insane and decide to trade us Peavy for Everett?
-
How exactly would we play an NL West team in a wildcard? What are you talking about?
-
Peavy is a helluva pitcher. I'm glad we don't have to face him. even better if he was supposed to start against Buehrle, because he's a 7 game winner who's pitched like a 9 game winner (Buehrle that is, not Peavy).
-
Because it's not the AL West and it's the 2nd worst team in baseball.
-
Freddy's numbers on the road this year are damn good. 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and .206 BAA. His performance combined with Coors field should translate into a win.
-
Off a tough loss against the Indians, the Sox will head out to hitter heaven aka Coors Field and face a Rockies team that is 2nd worst in all of baseball. Their staff has done poorly all year and the road ace will be going for the Sox. Should be talking about a White Sox winner at the end of this thread.
-
We all should've known this was coming for 2 reasons: 1) The Sox have won a lot of series this year by taking the first two games and dropping the last one. 2) The Sox are at least 0-3 when they have a chance to go to 20 games over .500. Oh well, on to Colorado where HOPEFULLY the Sox will FINALLY get 20 games over.

QUOTE(Maury @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Spammer??????? f*** you prick, listen and know what it's about before you shoot your mouth off. We helped build this site . Not that i deserve all the credit, I deserve a tiny bit, but don't call us spammers. It's for your entertainment free and costs me 400.00 a year drunk or sober. I wasn't calling you a spammer. There was a guy who kept posting big long posts that had nothing in them, and I responded to that, but when my post went up, his post was deleted. I wish I could hear that link, as I'd probably enjoy it, unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Sorry about the confusion.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) He can be thrown three times in a seven game series. Don't forget there will be off days in between and this is buehrle we are talking about. He has a rubber arm and would be up for it. I agree 100%, that's why I have him going games 1, 4, and 7 in my rotation, but who do you got for games 2, 3, 5, and 6?

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Maury isn't a spammer. No he isn't, but asdasdf or whatever that lifeless piece of rat excrement's screenname is, his post was deleted shortly before I made that comment.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Buehrle. No questions asked. Um, you can't start Buehrle all 7 games. Well, I guess you could, but he'd be bound to get injured somewhere along the line.

Really, he's screwing with every thread. Like I said on another thread...I hate spammers.

Okay, this is strictly a hypothetical, so please, spare me the "let's not get ahead of ourselves" type comments. I've actually been thinking about this for quite some time, and I think as of right now, the best 7 game series rotation for the Sox would be (also assuming we have Home Field Advantage for the series): Game 1: Mark Buehrle - He's the ace of the staff and deserves the Game 1 start. If we need a pitcher to win a series for us, it's going to be him, so he needs to be in a position where he can be called upon for 3 starts if absolutely neccessary. Game 2: Jon Garland - If Buehrle is the ace of the White Sox, then Jon is a very pleasant suprise as a #2 starter for us. If he continues to pitch the way he has to start the season, he's earned the Game 2 nod. Game 3: Freddy Garcia - Before random fruits and veggies come flying at me, consider this: in Freddy's 6 road starts this season, he is 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA, .206 BAA, 0.92 WHIP, and averages slightly over 7 innings per start. He's the quintessential road ace. Game 4: Mark Buehrle - Again, Buehrle is the ace of the staff. If any pitcher is going to win us a series, it's going to be him. Game 5: Jon Garland - If Jon continues to pitch the way he has, he's earned the #2 spot, so right now, put him there. Game 6: Orlando Hernandez - El Duque is CLUTCH in the playoffs, as evidenced by his great postseason record (couldn't find it, but I believe he is 8-1 lifetime in the postseason). He's also well rested and ready to go for this game. Game 7: Mark Buehrle - One last time: you give the ball to the ace with a chance to win the series. If the Sox go to a Game 7 in the 2005 postseason (if they are there), I want Buehrle on the bump for that pivotal game. What do you think? Good? Horrible? Would you make any changes?

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) The Dreaded Sunday lineup. Puts fear into the pitchers hearts when they think of the possiblites of where Timo Perez can play on this Sunday. I know...fear is stricken into the hearts of opposing pitchers every time MVP candidate Omit Perez comes to bat. It's amazing Ozzie sits him so much.
