  1. Here's what I'd consider trying Lineup for now: 1) Podsednik LF 2) Rowand CF 3) Iguchi 2B 4) Konerko 1B 5) Everett DH 6) Pierzynski C 7) Uribe SS 8) Crede 3B 9) Dye RF Lineup for the return of The Big Hurt: 1) Podsednik CF 2) Rowand RF 3) Iguchi 2B 4) Thomas DH 5) Konerko 1B 6) Everett LF 7) Pierzynski C 8) Uribe SS 9) Crede 3B
  2. Why not move ARow to the 2 hole and give Tadahito a shot as the 3 hole hitter? If he'd feel more comfortable in that position, I'd think it'd only make the offense better.
  3. The homer in me wants to say NEVER, but I know that unfortunately won't be the case. I say he will break the record and go a couple more outings before giving up a run.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) That sequence by Jon was the most incredible thing I have seen him do, since he got to Chicago. He mowed down a murders row, and didn't even look like he broke a sweat to do it. That inning was one of the best jobs of pitching out of a jam in recent times. I wouldn't be suprised to see ANY pitcher give up at least one more run there, but Jon held his ground. That inning was simply amazing.
  5. QUOTE(bulokis @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Jon first 8 game winner, YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS! Did anyone here think they'd EVER honestly be able to say that before this season?
  6. QUOTE(Cali @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) I'm shocked they even had a picture of Ordonez in his Tiger uniform available to be put up on their site.... He's had plenty of time to take pictures in a Tigers uniform, what with that season ending injury and all. Besides, now all it takes is a tiny bit of creativity combined with photoshop to put any player in any uniform.
  7. Go Jon! Don't let Judy see the light of day! Let's just hope he doesn't implode like the other starting pitchers have when I've posted on a game thread.
  8. I angrily gnash my teeth until the next game starts Actually, the only time a loss really gets me upset is when it's coupled with a Twins win. As long as the Twins lose, the Sox can't lose any ground.
  9. I heard an interview where Frank said he wants to get 40-70 ABs at AAA. I think he can do that in 2 weeks.
  10. True, but I'd rather see Pablo out there than Timo or Willie.
  11. Well, we all know the whole pillaging the North Side thing is a given!
  12. One blown lead is too many, but the Sox have blown quite a few leads over the past 3 games. Hopefully, the next 2 will go in the "W" column, then we go pillage the North Side for another 3 in the "W" column!
  13. Part of the problem in the past few days IMO is that the Sox are trying to get the benchwarmers some PT. Had all of the starters been out there for the past 3 games, I think they would've won at least one, and probably two.
  14. My steroid theory is that Juicer Giambi should forfeit the 2000 AL MVP award to Frank Thomas. Juicer barely beat Frank out while on the junk, and without it, he wouldn't have been in the ballpark, as evidenced by his post steroid use struggles. What makes it even worse is that a 2 time MVP with around 450 HRs in the juicer era is a borderline Hall of Famer, whereas a 3 time MVP with around 450 HRs in a clean era is probably a first ballot Hall of Famer, especially with Frank's high average and on base percentage.
  15. Which paper ran the article saying the are a lock to make the playoffs? I'm not jumping on that bandwagon yet, but it's hard to argue with the results thus far. If the get to the playoffs, the team that I'd least like to face is the Red Sox. Their offense is so good, and their staff is almost as good as ours. Definitely not the best of matchups.
  16. Eat s***? Probably not. Taste defeat? Definitely!
  17. This series looks like a good chance to get back on track before part 1 of the crosstown series. If El Duque gets the win tommorrow, I'm thinking it'll be a sweep.
  18. Their best against our worst will make for an interesting set of pitching matchups. I think the x-factor in the series will be Podsednik. If he gets on base once or twice a game, the Sox should win. If the Cubs are somehow able to hold him in check (they'd have to invent a way to do so), they'll have a lot better chance.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 14, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Games like this one drive me nuts. This was every bit as bad as that game in Oakland where we blew a pair of 3 run leads. f***ing sorry. Thats ok though.........we'll get em tomorrow. The only difference is this time the SOX actually blew the game, rather than the UMPS blowing calls and handing Oakland the game. Freddy gave them the game in the 4th when he went out and within 5 minutes blew the 3 run lead the offense had given him the inning before. He needs to get back on track, because right now, he's the worst Sox starter.
  20. Imagine how good this offense will be if Konerko and Dye ever decide to hit, and if Frank comes back in 04 form. Granted it won't be as good as last year's club was offensively, but with the astonishing improvements in the pitching staff, it will make for an even better team that might win even more games.
  21. I just hope Contreras doesn't implode like Freddy did today. After Saturday's game, I think if they can get decent pitching, the Sox will take the game and the series.
  22. Garland and Buehrle are locks if they keep pitching the way they are. One of them might even start the AS Game. As for the rest of the team...Pods maybe, Konerko maybe (if he gets his average up), and an even lesser chance for Hermanson and Iguchi. Out of those, I think 3 will make it, but not sure which ones.
