  1. Which happens first: Manny signs somewhere or this thread reaches 15,000 posts?
  2. You found a way to be more pessimistic about White Sox prospects than Keith Law. I don't know how you did it, but you did it.
  3. SP Sale $3 RP Robertson $1 C AJ $5 1B Konerko $4 2B Iguchi $1 SS Alexei $5 3B Crede $3 LF TCQ $1 CF Rowand $4 RF Dye $2 DH Thome $4
  4. SP Martinez $2 RP Kimbrel $1 C Posey $3 1B Cabrera $4 2B Cano $2 SS Rodriguez $5 3B Beltre $4 LF Ramirez $3 CF Trout $5 RF Betts $3 DH Baines $1
  5. Why would the Sox throw names like Rutherford and Flores out? Bummer, Fulmer, and possibly Bryce Bush are the names that have been discussed to date. Those names are a far cry talent wise (or in the case of Bush, near MLB ready wise) from Rutherford and Flores. I don't even know that I'd want to give up Bush for Pederson, let alone Rutherford or Flores.
  6. So you're saying you want to add Mike Trout? He'll be the top free agent in 2021.
  7. Theoretically in any sport with a cap, a team could give one player a contract that paid them all but the amount necessary to pay the league minimum to the number of players required to fill out a roster. The sport where that would be most likely to happen, or at least come close to it, is the NBA, because of how star driven their league is. The max deal in the NBA created the additional cap space that gets spent in ways that you indicate you don't like. Thus, the cap isn't the problem, the max deal is.
  8. The players accepted the idea of a max deal, which I'm sure owners don't want to do away with. The max deal is the problem in that case, not the floor. If you want a model with a floor that works really well, look at the NFL.
  9. Something is going to have to give, because this is clearly collusion by the owners to keep salaries down. That's not about Manny or Harper, it's about how each of this offseason and the one prior have gone. The players aren't going to accept their earnings being artificially capped just because a few teams are near the luxury tax threshold and don't want to go over. This is all of the issues baseball has tried to sweep under the rug for decades finally taking hold in a form where addressing them will be required.
  10. That would increase a lot of payrolls in MLB by a lot.
  11. Up the salary floor to like 90-95% of the luxury tax threshold (or preferably cap). That will get the money flowing.
  12. Not if combined with a salary floor and changes to free agency eligibility rules.
  13. I doubt that's true of anyone here. Not even the most miserable Sox fan could complain about 4 straight championships.
  14. That would be great for the Sox and also likely the cause of the next strike.
  15. The Yankees plan has to be to move Gleyber to SS at this point.
  16. He refuses to give up, even though that signing clearly confirms the Yankees are out on Machado.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-add-infielder-dj-lemahieu/c-302615720 Yankees sign Lemahieu. This has to mean they're out on Machado.
  18. I'm still angry that trade wasn't reversed by MLB because of the medical scandal.
