  1. Force the owners to accept Eddie DeBartolo's bid instead in that parallel universe. That's the owner that built the San Francisco 49ers dynasty.
  2. Scour the player development departments of the Dodgers, Rays, Astros, Brewers, Braves and maybe even Orioles and bring the best you can find here. About 25 of them.
  3. I'm really glad I've been paying so little attention to the White Sox that this thread was where I found out that Hahn and KW were fired. That news alone would've given me hope. Coupled with this, however, it reset me back to my standard position of just waiting for JR to die or sell the team before having any enthusiasm again. As I'm thinking about this, it's a pretty sad reflection on what this franchise has been that I spent more money on tickets and merch as a broke college student (which was around 2005) than I have as now, when I am far less broke. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this experience, right?
  4. So slightly better than Dane Dunning who was given up for Lynn. The rest is fodder, this is good.
  5. Who cares? Winning a division with 75 wins and getting bounced in Round 1 is no different than losing the division with 75 wins and not making the playoffs.
  6. The rebuild never stopped, they just have a bigger core to try to get value out of now. Hopefully Hahn isn't the one trying to extract the value from it.
  7. Fire everyone Trade everyone Sell the team Hopefully in 5 years the team will actually be good with a new everything.
  8. Jerry is cheap, at least by standards of an MLB owner. We all know this. What I don't understand is this: if he's going to be cheap on spending for talent (which he clearly is seeing as the White Sox are one of a handful of franchises that have no 9 figure contracts in the history of their organization), why not go all out and build a world class scouting and talent development organization? The annual cost of doing this would be less than 20% of an average MLB payroll, and the massive amount of dividends it would pay would be well worth the expense. Even from a purely business perspective, it would massively increase the team's profits by allowing them to consistently put a competitive product on the field without having to compete for the top spot in payroll. And if he's not interested in doing that, he should sell the team to someone who actually cares about fielding a winning product.
  9. That roster would challenge for the all time loss record.
  10. The second most frustrating part of this is that Rick Hahn will make a shocked Pikachu face at the end of the season about Andrus's struggles and claim there was no way to know that he would struggle after his 2022 performance. The most frustrating part of this is that after he does that, he won't be fired on the spot.
  11. 0 runs happens slightly more often with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs than with runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs (37.91% vs. 36.33%), so while it's technically the wrong move, it's not a catastrophically wrong move, and may be situationally advantageous. Of course, whichever way the White Sox do it will yield the wrong results.
  12. Is there a "this team will not win the AL" bet? Because I'd happily take Vegas's money betting on the Sox for that one.
  13. Make grandiose plans for a 500 level terrace bar, then scrap most of the plan because budgetary constraints, but still put the bar in.
  14. The Bulls were very well constructed, but their treatment of Scottie Pippen is a perfect example of JR's cheapskate bullshit.
  15. Lucking into Michael Jordan did a lot to pad that resume. I'd much rather have an owner that will put this team in position to actually sign top free agents when it is a competitive team. JR has shown time and again that will never be him.
  16. Or you could get Eddie DeBartolo or Steve Cohen. I think as fans we're hoping for that scenario.
  17. Childhood memories carry it at this point.
  18. No, blow it all up. But they can't because so many key pieces have lost so much trade value. So, hopefully some value is rebuilt in the first couple of months, then blow it all up.
  19. To answer the OP's question, they don't want to impress you, they want to do enough to make it look like they tried.
  20. I expect nothing and still anticipate being disappointed.
