  1. 20 HR power isn't enough? I seem to remember a World Series Champion that had a LF who hit 0 regular season HRs.
  2. Seems like it. They've been one of the top ranked teams all year.
  3. Switch hitting catchers who hit around .400 in college ball and play at least adequate defense come along way less often than fast HS shortstops.
  4. So, to whoever was concerned about so many good players being on OSU, turns out OSU is just really good. That's 4 players drafted in the first 2 days, 3 of which were 1st round.
  5. I'd also be okay with something like: 2019: $35 million 2020: $40 million 2021: $45 million OPT OUT 2022: $50 million 2023: $50 million OPT OUT 2024: $40 million 2025: $30 million OPT OUT 2026: $25 million 2027: $20 million 2028: $15 million I think if you sign him, getting the first 5 years is key. I'd be willing to structure the deal in just about any way to definitely get those first 5 years barring something crazy happening, maybe get 7 years, and not have to worry about paying a declining 36 year old a whole lot of money.
  6. They're drafting better. Have been since Hostetler took over the process in 2015 (He didn't make the Fulmer pick).
  7. I wish people weren't so ignorant, but, alas, they are. As far as recommitting a crime if he was guilty, that's highly unlikely because of the age at which he received treatment, which would've been mandatory as part of the sentencing regardless of whether he actually did it or not. Recividism on that behavior when treated at that age is less than 5%.
  8. Yeah, likely not, they tend to be too concerned with PR. Doesn't make sense to me to pass on a player like him though given the circumstances of his situation. Getting a better starter than Brady Singer on Day 2 of the draft seems like a win to me.
  9. If he was 6'0" he would've been the unquestioned #1 overall pick. What a difference 4 inches makes.
  10. If you know what the guilty plea says, how the hell do you not know what his ordered punishment was? That isn't aimed at you specifically, but Passan had a direct quote from the guilty plea in his article. He could've just as easily gotten the records from the sentencing hearing.
  11. Good, hopefully they pay dearly for that decision.
  12. My gamble is that he's not going to find a $45 million AAV contract elsewhere for those next 3 years. Essentially, I'm incentivizing him to stay in the deal for 5 years, maybe 7, then leave of his own accord.
  13. An interesting contract idea would be: 2019: $35 million 2020: $40 million OPT OUT 2021: $45 million 2022: $45 million 2023: $45 million OPT OUT 2024: $35 million 2025: $35 million OPT OUT 2026: $25 million 2027: $25 million 2028: $20 million Total Contract Value: $350 million ($35 million AAV) Contract Value at first opt out: $75 million ($37.5 million AAV) Contract Value at second opt out: $210 million ($42 million AAV) Contract Value at third opt out: $280 million ($40 million AAV)
  14. Fangraphs has him at 35 in their top 100, which puts him at 4 in the system based on their rankings.
  15. He's not, necessarily, but he's a 4th OF. Maybe he's more important developmentally than Booker, so you leave him in AA, but the guys in A+ that would be moving up need the bulk of the PT in AA.
  16. To AAA: Eloy Jimenez, Tito Polo, Jameson Fisher To AA: Joel Booker, Alex Call, Micker Adolfo/Blake Rutherford To A+: Luis Gonzalez, Luis Robert I think at least one of Micker and Blake is ready for AA. That said, if the org doesn't feel that way, they're more likely to push Basabe.
  17. I hope they're dumb enough to let their core walk to pay a guy who can't play SS to play SS.
  18. Machado, Brantley, Kimbrel, Herrera, and Familia seems like a good haul. Don't be all logical and tell me that that's likely over half a billion dollars in contracts.
